killed. the victim's name is not being released now. the cause. fire, they're still trying to figure out what it was. ll lanes of interstate 95 northbound are now open after an afternoon crash that sent a virginia state trooper and a driver to the hospital. it happen about a mile south of route 23 in wood bridge. the trooper was attending to a minor whks another vehicle hit his parked cruiser. pat collins has more. >> reporter: not one but two medevaced helicopters deployed at this scene. wreckage scattered all over th roadway. traffic on 95 northbound, backed up as far as the eye could see. an accident leads to yet another accident on this busy interstate. this happened on northbound95 about a mile away from the wood bridge exit. they say trooper was here workg a small accident on the

side of the road when the vehicle came up 95 and forced that brown car into the trooper's car. the trooper was injured. the woman driving the brown car injured. both medevaced to hospitals nearby. according to state police, everyone involved in the incident remained on the scene. investigators are interviewing witnesses and examining the wreckage to try and determine how the all ca about. i'm patcollins, news4, prince william county. maryland state police say a heart attack killed the driver in lst week's awful bus crash on i-270. investigators say 66-year-old joseph claybaugh jr. passed out while he was behind the wheel on a highwayoverpass. the bus rolled about 45 feet before crashing in the northbound 270 spur in bethesda.

several children on the tour bus were hurt when it happened. all of them are expected to be okay. army sergeant first class grew up in frederick, maryland. last friday he was killed in combat in afghanistan. it was his 12th combat deployment. the sergeant was an army ranger. he was attached to the first battalion, 75th ranger regiment. they reported that his parents went to dover, delaware yesterday to receive his remains. the sergeant was 29 years old. he was married with two children. he served four tours in iraq. he was killed during his eighth deployment. a local navy seal who was kill in afghanistan was laid t rest today. family and friends gathered at the national shrine in northeast d.c. to say goodbyeo 29-year-old lieutenant.

he was killed last month when his helicopter went down in southern afghanistan. he went to dematha highschool. he was buried atarlington national cemetery next to his best friend who was kill in iraq two years ago. a special report on their story is coming upn "nbc nightly news" right after this broadcast. the d.c. government is imposing a spending and hiring freeze, effective wednesday of this week. part of an effort to control spending in the face of continuing economic problems. d.c. councilchairman vincent gray, the the city's next mayor, apparently, asked to take control of runaway spending by the city. >> reporter: housing prices and residential property tax are down. so are commercial real estate tax. the peoe are spending less so sales taxes are down, too. >> the budget problem is quite serious. the difference this year than other times is we have no

a washington, d.c. street is on the list of one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the country. an area around "l" street southeast. the study ranked it as the 91st mostangerous neighborhood in country. the rankings were done by the website, neighborhoodscout.com. they said the chances of become a victim if you're on "l" street are one in city official dispute the ndings, saying they must be based on outdatednformaon because that area has been redeveloped. >> it is ridiculs. this is quickly becoming one of the best neighborhoods in america. and i have no idea. you can look around this neighborhood and see that it is not a dangerous neighbor. i don't think there's been a murder here in this whole area right in here since 2005. >> the survey look at 61,000 neighborhoods across the

crediting her own instincts with keeping her unborn baby alive after doctors told her the baby had died. sophia taylor went to a checup. doctors said t child's heart had stopped breathing. she said she was offered an immediate termination of the pregnancy. she insisted her baby was still alive shelf insisted o a scan and it proved her correct. >> there is a heartbeat there. it just showed that. it was really nice but also, what went wrong then? why did you tell never baby had died? >> wow! a doctor at the hospital said it is a teaching hospital and admits that bad supervision in her case may have led to the incorrect scan results. wow! good thing she went with her feelings othat. kind of a dismal kind of a gr start to our week. >> a lttle nasty out there. >> nasty is right.

pattern dipping way down. a huge trough of low pressure across the eastern third of the nation we're seeing very cool conditions. we're going to continue to see very cool conditions right through the day tomorrow. into the day on went. before this trough finally begins to lift out. look at the temperature. 55 in cincinnati and only 54. the average temperature, close to 80. a very cool day out there. that cool condition will continue to stick around. here the area of low pressure moving to the north tomorrow. this is the surface below will create the shower activity to the north but still provide with us those cool conditions throughout the day todaynto the day tomorrow. and a little on the breezy side as well. those winds gusting upwards of 10 to 20 miles per hour. area of drizzle, maybe a few drops. most of us should remain on the dry side. breezy and cool. 50 to 55 degrees as we move on through the morning tomorrow. mostly cloudy. we may see some limited morning sun. i like to call it a peek or a

two veteran journalists have been busted for growing marijuana in their backyard. police arrested howard arenstein and his wife in their home. >> police say they got a p about several marijuana plants right there in plain sight. >> reporter: howard arenstein, the manager for cbs radio charged with possession. marijuana. then police found nearly a dozen pot plants growing in the

celebrities, family and others got together to say a final goodbye to tony curtis. a funeral service was held in las vegas for the acclaimed actor. it included a video tribute
