weather for their 1:00 kickoff. so there's a live picture outside. sunshine streaming down into washington this morning. a beautiful day outside. 59 degrees here at the friendly peacock in northwest washiton. 59 at the naval academy. 56 in fairfax and falls church. 57 in rtinsburg and charlestown, west virginia. there's your forecast for sunday. beautiful sunshine today. temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s. some 10 to 12 degrees warmer than average for this time of the year so that's a nice little bonus right there and even warmer tomorrow. i'll give you the rest of that forecast coming up in couple more minutes. >> we'llee you then. in the news now we are following a developing story in maryland as an accident has left -- has killed two people. this happened about 3:00 this morning in rockville. news 4's derrick ward is live at the scene now with the latest details. derrick? >> reporter: major road closures from the area of rinelli road

north up to old georgetown cause of a serious incident that happened here early this morning. it was about 3:20 this morning when a late model acura was northbound on rockville pike and it struck two pedestrians who were crossing near marinelli road. it's not clear whether they were in the cross walk or notbut both identified as two 26-year-olds from silver spring have died from their injuries. this is a large crime scene cause of what happened after those pedestrians were struck. joing me now is captain paul starks of montgomery county police department. what happened after the initial impact down there? >> initially the driver got out, possibly to render aid to the two victims. the driver got back into his car, drove north about a block, made an immediate right turn on old george up to road where he opped. at that point a witness to this collision contacted him, advised him he needed it to return to e scene. the driver can did walk back to the scene. there officers realized he may

have alcohol in hissyste he was taken into custody and processed for dui. he did give a sample by breath and charges are pending following conference with the state's attorney's office at the conclusion of this investigation. >> reporter: and where does this now put you? this has turned into a double fatality incident. where does this put you in terms of fatalities for the year? >> this is number 10 and 11 with these two 26-year-old men from silver spring this morning. >> reporter: and you sai most of those accidents that you've had at this point have been pedestrian error? >> correct. the first nine this year, not counting this morning's, all but one was pedestrian error. >> reporter: a that's just, i guess, another way to reinforce folks, you have to be careful especially at night when visibility isn't what it should be. you need to be careful cross in. >> you may bable to see the vehicle but the driver may not be able to see you. even during the day you ve to be engaged in what you're doing. put down the phone, stop texting, make sure you're crossing with the light with the crosswalk sign and look both

ways. >> reporter: and this being an investigation into a fatality, how much longer with people expect these road closures it to continue? >> thankfully sunday morning traffic is very ligh there e many ways to get around this area. i'm thinking another hour or so and the roads should begin to open. >> rorter:hank you very much, paul, for joining us. again, a sad story re this morning. rockville pike, two men dead after being struck by a car near marinelli road. e area between marelli and old georgetown will remain closed for at least another hour. we're live in rockville. back to you. >> derrick ward, thank you. a maryland man behind bars after allegedly trying to hire a hitman to kill his estranged wife. police say 42-year-old richard boyd jr. and his wife, elizabeth, were inhe process of getting a divorce but richard wanted to circumvent the legal process. he reached out to an acquaintance, offered him $1,000 and five oxycontin pills to kill her. the acquaintance instead went to

rockville police, and shortly after a final meeting to put the plan in motion, police arrested boyd putting an end to this bizarre story. >> he found what he was being asked to do shocking and to some degree unbelievable. but when he realized he believed the that was real, then he did the right thing. >> boyd's soon-to-be ex-wife says she's cooperating fully with police and they've en extremely supportive. this morning we now know the name of the man killed in a double shooting in bowie. 26-year-old kenneth lamar prince of on hill was shot after an event at the west bowie hall early saturday morning. another 26-year-old man was shot but has not been identified. he remains in the hospital this morning in critical condition. police are still looking for the shooter and trying to establish a motive. a resent spike in crime in d.c.'s pet worth neighborhood has residents looking for answers. more than 100 people showed up

for a meeting with police. there have bn four murders and six shootings in the last four months. people in the area hope police can step up their presence and add more surveillance cameras. for me families the most disturbing trend is the violence that's hapning in broad daylight. >> it's been really disturb to go see the criminal activity occurring in the neighboood. it's been very quiet. it's been a wonderful neighborhood to grow up in. and now we have our little son and to have gunfire and shootings three weeks in a row, it seems like, is just unheard of. >> police say some of the violence may due to competing gangs moving into the petworth area. a treat yesterday as the godfather of go-go stopped by to help celebrate a day honoring him. ♪ it was chuck brown day. a parade was held in his hopper. the musician celebrated by hanging out with france and performing some songs.

hour is driving in some slight ly cooler, sliltly drier air. that's the reason our dew points have been on the decline for the last couple of hours but you that little boundary, that little weather front bringing the dry air in f now isn't going to make it too much further before it will lift back up to the north. so temperatures now in the upper 50s, nearing on 60 degrees. 55 now in manassas and warrenton. 55 in new market, maryland, this morning. out on the wider view, the real chilly stuff is just about halfway up the new jersey turnpike. once you get into the northern suburbs, a lot of spots in the 30s this morning. the cold air wasn't far away but it ner made it all the way down. yesterday i thought we might see that front make it jt to the south side of the d.c. metro. it's pretty much hung up right on top of the city at this point in time. as we go through the rest the day today this front will eventually start to inch its way back up to the north as it kind of washes out more than anything else. high pressure down across the tennessee valley. that's going to be our main

investigation continues. we are live in montgomery county. now back to you. >> derrick ward, thank you. the family of a maryland teen who was killed back in august is pleading with the public for help in finding his killer. police say tayshaun jones shot julian kelly during a rbery in silver spring. kelly died two weeks later. they arrested three suspects who are still searchi for jones. yesterday kelly's relatis made a plea to the public for help in bringing generals to justice. >> to anyon who is out there helping tayshaun stay at large, please find it in your heart to turn him in. you have no idea the pain this has caused not just my family but all who have known my brother. >> jones is reportedly a member of the 38 mob street gang and should be considered armed and dangerous. the mysterious death of a northern virginia busineman has fairfax county police asking the public for help.

police released this picture of a gold lexus 470 suv similar to the one missing from the hom of a person found dead on thursday. it has tags xyw-8197. a family member found the 61-year-old eun dead. police are calling it an apparent homicide and say he died from trauma to the upper body. if you have any information or see the vehicle, you are asked to contact police immediately. one of the most controversial building projects of the yeais getting some local atteion. last night one of the developers of the mosque scheduled to be built near ground ro in new york spoke at a dinner in northern virginia and that attract add crowd of protesters. news 4's darcy spencer has more on the local debate. >> no mosque at ground zero. >> reporter: outside the marriott hotel in arlington county dozens of people protested the council on american islamic relations banquet taking place inse. one of the banquet's speakers is a developer of the

proposed mosque at ground zero in new york. >> it is aribute to their success for bringing down the towers. that is the way it will be viewed in the middle east. that's the way it will be viewed with the terrorists. it is their victory there. it will be their victory temple being built in new york. >> reporter: those invved in the protest did not confront those walking into the hotel to attend the dinner. there was tight security at th hotel and additional police presence. protesrs geraldine davies daughter died. >> we're suffering out here. this is awful for us. nine years later our lives are totally and completely altered and we're back fighting the same battles that existed nine years ago. >> reporter: the develop of the new york park 51 islamic center project was one of the speakers, declined an on air intervw and said he was not available to speak. news 4 was not allowed inside to record the event which also featured journalist helen thomas. the evt would also address islamaphobia.

>> the people here who are protesting, essentially theye full of hate and bigotry. in my view as a west point graduate, someone who has served the u.s. army as a u.s. citizen, that's not in line with our american values. >> reporter: darcy spencer, news 4 today. >> the protest was led by a task force based in alexandria. according to polls more than 70% of americans are against buding the islamic center and mosque so close to ground zero. opponents are asking ground leaders to move the center to another site. 33 chilean miners are now just days away from rescue. a drill broke through early saturday morning bringing hope to a town that thought they might not see their loved ones until christmas. officials plan to start the process of bringi the miners to the surface as early as wednesday. first, however, crews will reinforce the first00 feet of the hole with steel sleeves. engineers believe the rest of e hole is stable enough to begin the rescue process.

around our neighborhoods this morning, mon astacanassas and c up to near 60. rockville to gaithersburg up to poolesville also getting up close to 60 degrees to get your sunday morning started. the really cd stuff is up across interior sections of new york and nw england where a lot of spots were down into the 30s first thing this morning. that little weather front is going to be hanging up just over the top of us today so our northern and eastern viewers up towards he will coulthe city and columbia, up to annapolis, cooler today than yesterday but further down to the south culpepper, warrenton probably the same yesrday which means temperatures 10 to 12 degrees rmer than average. this front will not last too much longer. high pressure going to inch back to the north and wash it out almost entirely the next 24to 48 hours and that opens up the door for some very warm air to come back into the area for tomorrow. and a little hint of a lingers

at least through tuesday and wednesday. our future cast model by 6:00 tomorrow a little possibility there may be an isolated shower tomorrow. southern pennsylvania, northern maryland. so couldn't completelyule that out. i think here in the washington area a better chance for a shower coming up as we get into the day tuesday. fall foliage, that time of the year, everybody. skyle drive, just a little bit of color so far. better color further up to the north where they've had less sun light and the tropics aren't do with us yet. this area needs to be watched carefully. we'll keep you posted. for today sunshine, warm, delightful. no weather concerns of any kind. grn bay pack eers coming up at fedex field to take on the redski redskins. a 1:00 kick. you'd better wear your summer gear to the game today. it's going to be a wonderful day to be outside. tomorrowartly sunny. one or two showers possible. again, primarily up to the north and west of d.c. tomorrow and then kind of a better chance for everybody have a little opportunity for a shower on tuesday. a little hint of a cooling trend comes in by tuesday, wednesday, thursday time frame as we get the early lean on next we. it's probably going to actually feel a lot more like october.
