investigate. there have been several pedestrian accidents in less than a week. megan mcgrath said the tragedies are prompting police talking about safety. >> reporter: a deadly weekend in montgomery county. two men struck and killed early sunday morning as they tried to cross rockville pike. it was 3:20 in the morning. police say adam and rory had left the white flint metro stion and had stepped into the streets when they were hit by a car. police believe the driver had been drinking. it is unclear who was at fault and it could beeeks fore a decision is made about criminal charges. >> the investigation is still evolving. and there won't be a conclusion to this investigation for weeks. this is a significant and serious death investigation. and the collision reconstruction unit usually takes good amount of time to get all the material and evidence together. >> reporter: last friday, a woman and her baby were hit by a car in wheaton. they survived but others have not been so lucky.

12 pedestrians have been killed in montgomery county so far this year. that's compared to 14 deaths for all. 2009. while it is unclear who was at fault in this weekend's accident, eight of the previous nine deaths were due to pedestrian error. police want to remind people to stick to the crosswalks and follow the signals at all times. >> this could be anything from not being in the crowalk or crossing mid block, and also, not obeying the pedestrian indicator. telling you noto walk or stretching the time when it is, when you are supposed to walk but not getting across in the amount of time. >> reporter: in the wheaton incident, the mother and child were walk against traffic signal when the know occurred so they were at fault. in the sunday incident, it is not yet known wheth pedestrian error played a role. in rockville, megan mcgrath, news4. prince grge's county poli tell us today, two women trying to flee from a police officer were involved in a car

crash that left both women hospitalized in ctical condition. this crash happened around 3:00 this morning at the intersection of route 1 and east west highway in riverdale, maryland. police say the women crashed soon after leaving a nearby parking lot. both were ejected from the vehicle. investigators say they were pursuing one of the men -- or women on foot in quick the possib theft of a cell phone. that woman got into a car with another woman. they took off and the vehicle crashed here at the intersection. a rockville man has a court date tomorrow on charges he tried to hire someone to kill his estranged wife. police say 42-year-old richard boyd jr. offered an acquaintance money and pills to kill his wife. boyd and his wife are currently going through a divorce a poli say he was concerned that the possible outcome. investigators stay man found the offer shocking and somewhat unbelievable. >> when he realized that he believed that the threat was

a skydiver had to be helped down after he got stuck in a tree. this is about 70 feet up in the air. he was sky diving with a group in northern massachusetts when he became separated and landed in the middle of the woods. rescue team had to cut down several trees to reach him. he was stuck in the tree for about two hours but stayed conscious and alert the whole time. the man was taken to aer in a by hospital and is expected to be okay. there is more frustration for the man who was reportedly
