looking for abcs. 56-year-old karim abdul ali. his familyalled him bubba. they said he was a kind man who didn't drink or do drugs and loved poetry. >> he was bag nature about his life, his beliebeliefs. >> reporter: he died at holy cross spital. police were called to an apartment in the 11400 block of lockwood drive, a short distance from ali's home in white oak. someone had reported an individu in apartment hallway acting suspiciously. a female officer was first on the scene. she encountered ali. >> after a short conversati, she attempted to escort him from the stairwell, he began resisting her efforts to get him to leave. >> mor officers came up on the scene and they tried to escort ali from the building. police say there was a struggle. >> at some point, he was tased analso oc spray was deployed. >> reporter: after that, the

fire department was call. standard procedure when pepper spray is used. he was later handcuffed and placed in a transport vehicle, but officers realized he wasn't breathing. >> we called fire rescue back. during thattime we called fire rescue back, officers initiated cpr. >> reporter:ali was rushed to holy cross hospil and never regained consciousness. >> it is not a pleasant feeling. it's not like we enjoy feeling as though there may be some element of subterfuge. we would much rather focus on healing our family, healing ourselves. >> the investigation into the incident started sunday night. >> if a mistake was made, we'd like to know. if ty believe they were valid, we'd like to know. the point is, we don't. >> among the questions the family has are some about the injuries they saw on ali's body

a group of grea falls residents met with police to learn more about a serial burglar hitting across northern virginia. since late august, about 100 burglaries, attemptedburglaries and car break-ins are believed to be linked to one man. they stretch across fairfax, prince william and latcounts. they remind everyone to lock windows and doors. new security measures at d.c. public works yard.

this a day after a gunman killed one employee there and wounded another. armed security officers ar checking at the gate. a security review recommended those measures be in place six months ago, officials at dvw have not addressed whythose recommendations were not followed. they have not caught that gunman yet. >> dc's new interim school ancellor wants the public to know she's ready for the job. she talked about being selected. she helped negotiate the new teacher's union contract and led the effort to dismiss ineffective teachers. reform is part of her agenda. >> i didn't come here and give my blood, sweat, and tears over the last 3 1/2 years to have the reforms stop this is the subcommittee i live in. i'm going to have to have some babies sometime very quickly.

two co-hosts of "the view" walked off the set today during a debate about a proposed music near ground zero it happened with a debate with fox news host bill o'reily. he suggested it would be inappropriate to build the mosque so close to ground zero. that's when whoopi goodberg asked why. just minutes later, o'reily clarified he was talking about

rain 1.26 inches of rain. winds out of the west/northwest. and at 15 miles an hour. and those winds will continue to increase. and we'll coinue to see pretty gusty conditions by the time you wake up tomorrow morning. mperatures down to 49 in haggerstown and manassas coming in at 52 degrees. and wincheste the cool spot at 47. and no rain left across the area. live digital doppler radar, we saw this during the day today. 1.5 inches toward frederick. almost an inch toward baltimore and frederick and quantico. 1.3 inches tre. we did see a loft rain with the system. the rain continues to push up toward the north. the area continues to strengthen, look what'soing on back to the west here. another system will dip on down, bringing cloud cover with it. we're clear right now, but we'll see clouds move in, and wind will really start to pick up as the area of low pressure off the coast continues to intensify. it will intensify rather qckly

and become a big storm what does it mean for us? we're done with the rain. now it means cool and windy conditions over the next couple of days. keep those coats ndy. you will need them. very windy conditions. winds gusting upward of 30, 35 miles an hour. and tomorrow, saturday, before the storm finally pushes out, high pressure will move in on sunday and that will go with a very nice end to what will be a 50/50 weekend. for the most part, a few clouds, breezy and chilly. 39 to 46 degrees. 10 to 20 miles an hour. some higher gusts, and as we move through the day tomorrow, winds will continue to increase. mostly cloudy, windy at times. the poibility of a shower tomoow, 64 to 67 degrees. and it's a very debt day. a quick shower. and that wind continues, during the day on satury. temperatures in the upper 60s. at least around average sunday.
