delopingstory. good afternoon. i'm jim handly. >> i'm pat lawson muse. montgomery county police are canvassing a bethesda neighborhood after a university professor was found dead in her home. before 11:00, police arrived in the block of the 6200 block of mass enue. they believe someone forced their way into the louse and there were no signs of a struggle inside. police found the body of 52-year-old susan marcum there. she was an executive in residence at american university's school of business where she taught accounting. police say her jeep is still missing. they're oking for her tan 1999 jeep cherokee with virginia tags. craig melvin is folwing this developing story and willave much more coming up tonight at 5:00. charges have been dropped today against one of those georgetown university students arrested after a drug lab was found in a dorm room on campus. police tell us 18-year-old john romano was not involved in the operation. but his roommate and the campus

visitor will stay in jail without bail until another hearing laterhis week. ne4's megan mcgrath reports on that dru lab discovery that has shocked students and the college community. >> reporter: back to css for kids at georgetown university, but two students will not be attending any lectures today. they'll appear before a judge on charges that they were trying to make the drug dmt in their dormitory room. allegations that students say are hard to believe. >> justshock, surprise. i had no idea. i was baking cookies in my dorm last night. to hear that, it is pretty surprising. >> i'm surprised. i don't know who would be stupid enough to put something like that in their dorm room if they were going to do it. i guess people wanted to make some money. >> reporter: charles sxhith john romano, both georgetown university students, and john parone, a uest, were arrested

saturday morning after emergency crews responded to a report of a strange odor in the hall. inside a room, police fod a cool wrapped in duct tape filled with mason jars containing a clear liquid and there were other chemicals as well and items includg a turkey baster that could be used to make drugs. according to the dea website, dmt can cause hallucinations and euoria. the high lasts only about an hour which is given at this time reputation as being the businessman's trip. but drug officials want to stress that this is a potentially dangerous, even deadly drug. from georgetown, megan mcgrath, news4. >> again the charges against 18-year-old john romano were dropped today in court. the next hearing in the case is set for wednesday. rain on a monday is better than rain over the weekend. >> it re. is meteorologist doug kammerer is here with our first forecast of the week. >> we really haven't seen a lot of rain.

maybe a few showers there and an isolated shower or sprinkle. that will be about it. 73 degrees by 5:00 p.m. 68 b7:00. tempature ound 64. we will continue on this mild trend and there is another chance for rain. i think a much better chance of rain coming up a little later on. i'll he that for you in my full forecast. >> thanks, doug. the unexpected happened during opening statements in the trial of a man charged with murdering intern chandra levy. the case got underway the defense and prosecution both agreeing to the same thing. that police messed up. prosecutors say investigators made a hu mistake focusing on then congressman gary condit in levy's disappearance. the defense said the suspect guandique is being made a scapegoat. >> reporter: the mother of chandra levy walked in wearing sunglasses and a scarf covering part of her face. after years of waiting, she is expected to testimony in her daughter's murder trial.

it is the beginning of one of the most controversial murder cases in d.c. his zpri is expected to be one of the hard toast rosecute. the 9-year-old murder case is brought with errors and even the prosecutor admitted during a pretrial hearing that mistakes made early on left no eyewitnesses, no dna, and no weapon. >> i think the government lacks direct evidence. anything that would link guandique to the scene of the crime. no dna, a fiber of clothing, a hair, something that would make it more difficult for the defense to explain why he isn't guilty. >> reporter: for two months, detectives focused on one suspect. congressman gary condit of california. he admitted to having an affair with levy. meanwhile, ingmar guandique, a now 29-year-old immigrant from el salvador is in prison. he was in prison for twik and was serving time when police

charged when i am t murder last year. detectives say the break came from cell mates. >> the government will try to argue that the method that he used was the signare. that the way that he attacked his women was no different than the way that chandra levy was attack. >> reporter: both of the women he is convicted of makinthe rock creek park are listed to be witnesses for the prosecution. also, condit is expected to take stands well. in northwest, i'm tracee wilkins, news4. coming up at 5:00, pat collins joins us live from outside the courthouse with more on the testimony that took place on the stand today. the dean of the virginia theological seminary says today the church will rebuild after last week's hoible fire there. federal agents are now helping local firefighters determine what caused the blaze at the historic alexandria church. most of the main chapelas destroyed. the blaze began on friday afternoon. investigators return to the church today after havingo wait several days until the

24-mile-an-hour wind gusts. 25 in sterling. 22 in culpeper. nearly 30 toward charlottesville. we'll continue to see the winds through the evening, throughout the overnight hours. then into the day tomorrow as well. it will be a rather windy next 24 to 48 hours before we get our next frontal boundary. watch what happens. it does a little v. one area goes to the north, one to the south. the best chance would be toward southern saint mary's county and then the eastn shore. that will be about it. isolated showers in here overnight. not expecting much rain. rm conditions out at 15 to 25 miles an hour. back to the west. a monster storm. this storm is just huge. it will create very windy conditions. chicago could have winds of 60 miles an hour. that's how strong the storm is. it is not moving our way. it will move well to the north and east giving us a cold front. it will come through during the day on wednesday.

man in a robbery. police say she was with two other men waiting there to rob him. the victim was shot after a struggle with the robbers. police say all three admitted guilt and all three face first-degree murder charges. mee got national attention three years ago for her five-week-long bout with hiccups. she appeared on the "today" show several timeescribing her ordeal. australia's former prime minist managed to ke his cool after a war protester threw aair of shoes at him in the middle of the studio audience. it all happened while john howard was taping a talk show appearance. he hurled his shoes at howard when he said he supported australia's decision to join the iraq war. but the former prime minister seemed unfazed by the incident. even reassured the show's host telling him to relax. you may remember a similar incident in 2008. an iraqi journalist threw his

we were dealing with a little wind today and then the clouds got kind of thick. >> we're not going to see anything like they're going to see in the center portion of the country. there is a huge storm taking shape right now. the good part for us, we n't see much of it at all. the only thing it will give us is some breezy conditions and rainy conditions on wednesday. outside right now, there are those clouds.
