>> reporter: parents at osborn high school in may that ihas are shaken after lrning a 15-year-old male student was killed friday afternoon, walking home from school. police have not released his denty but students have been taing. did you know the young man that was killed? >> i know of him. it was my boyfriend's friend, too. so he was walkin with him, actual. >> reporter: this path, just blocks from osborn high school, is a common way many students walk home from school. but police say whenthat 15-year-old male was taking this very same route on friday, he never made it home. witnesses say around 2:45, he was jumped by a group of males and stabbed. the young man's body was found lying in the street behind this white van. >> i came out to see. and the crowdfrom the school had already gathered. and the police cars were here. the young man laying behind the

van. >> reporter: his limp body was airlifted to frfax hospital where he later died. now ny in the community are wondering, what will be done to keep the kids safe? >> i don'tknow what the school can actually do, being off school property. but clearly the manassas city could possibly step up the patrol patrols. >> lately a lot of stuff has been happening at school that weird. not like we're havi gang problems and stuff, this is a really good school, but you need somebody who really knows what they're doing to control the school better. >> osborn high school will have counselors on hand monday to help students and faculty deal with the death. are following a developing story near job pa, maryland. maryland state police have shut down part of i-95 in both directions for much of the afternoon because of some nd of police activity. we know the incident involved a bus near the mountain road exit.

the interstate has now reopened but drivers should expect toit some congestion in that area. police say a man driving under the influence of drugs caused arash that killed two people last night. it happened around 9:15 last night near the intersection of lee highway and james madison highway in gainesville, virginia. tonight we're learning more about the victims. darcy spencer is live in chantilly with that story tonight. >> reporter: a 20-year-old woman from chantilly was one of the two people who died in that fiery crash. prince william county police say the man who caused this tragedy was undethe influence of pcp. megan was a front seat passenger in a honda accord, her boyfriend behind the wheel, according to her mother. their car was hit by an out of control chevy impala that was traveling north on lee highway in gainesville prince william county about 9:15 last night. police say 22-year-old carlos lucas was driving that impala,

lost control, struck the mdian and hit the honda. she was ejected from the car and did not survive. the vehicle burst into flames. the boyfriend was able to be pulled out by witnesses but a back seat passenger was trapped and also died. >> he needs to be held accountable. he needs to realize that what he's done is take two innocent lives om the world. you know, people need to think about that wen they're doing whatever they're doing, whether 's alcohol or drugs, whatever, that they can't get into a car or get into a vehicle of any kind and drive on the highway because this is the result of it. >> reporter: now police have identified the other man who died in this crash as 50-year-old david richardson of warrenton, virginia. police say he did take the drive history caused this crh into custody, charged with driving under the influence, as well as possession with intent to distribute pcp.

police a trying to track down a group of men who beat and robbed a student close to the university of maryland campus. happened around 2:30 a.m. this morning at knox road and gillford drive. the student was riding a bicycle when three young men tackled him, beat and robbed him. the last few months, at least three other student have been attacked by a group of men. at ts point officis do not know if the attacks are related. d.c.'s archbishop was elevated to one of the highest positions in the catholic church today. archbishop donald wohl isfirmly cardinal. a formal ceremony was held at st. peter's basilica. the pope plac a scarlet beretta on wohl's head. he's one of 24 new cardinals but on one of two from the united states. cardinals serve as the pope's advisers.

the discoverychannel garden opened today. two months ago two workers were held hostage. gunman james lee stormed the building in september. after the hostage situation ended discovery closed the garden for security assessment. while the garden is open to the public on weekends t lobby will not reopen to the public until security changes are in place. president obama says he

understands why many are so upset with the new security measures at airports. the president has asked security officials whether ere's a less intrusive way to scrn passengers. right now, any passenger can be subjected to more invasive pat-downs and full-body screeners. at this point the tsa and many counterterrorism experts say the current procedures are the only ones they think can effectively guard against threats. others have sggested privatizing the transportation security administration. the fbi is joining the investigation into a threatening letter containing white powder that was sent to the "dancing with the stars" studios. the letter was found in the mail room. preliminary sts show the white substance was talcum powder. a nonhazardous material. the letter is being sent to a lab for further testing. th pouter was reportedly in a piece of n mail for bristol palin. at this point the fbi has not confirmed that.
