>> when you d your leafing, remeer? >> don't forget to do your leafing. >> plenty of sunshine getting through. mid and high level clouds going . temperatures are holding back. now this time yesterday we were starting to see a lot of spots into the 50s. not the case today. most everybody upper 30s to low and mid-40s across the ara. satellite picture shows extra cloud cover today which will limit our ability to get sunshine and as a result of the increasing clouds not quite as warm today still a pleasant day to be outside. whether you're raking or mowing, washing the car, whatever you need to do, get it done today. more milder days are back tomorrow. >> thank you, chuck. in our headlines now, one man is dead and five oths including an 11-month-old girl are recovering after two cars collided during a police pursuit. thatccident happened just after 3:00 yesterday afternoon. the 11,800 block of cherry hill road in silver spring. derrick ward is live at the

scene for thus morning with more on what led to this llision. derrick? >> reporter: indeed, aaron. as you said this all started out as a domestic call over in montgomery county and ended up back here in the 11,800 block of cherry hill road with one person dead. it was about 3:10 when police were called by a woman at an international house of pancakes restaurant. she said she and her boyfriend had argued a after that he drove off in her van withheir 11-month-old daughter inside. now a short time later montgomery county police located the van on cherry hill road. police say there was traffic and the van, which was traveling eastbound, apparently tried to avoid that traffic and cross over t lines into westbound traffic. there it struck a chevy tahoe with four people inside. now that vehicle ended up straddling the westbound lanes. one person inside died at the scene. that person has been identified as 46-year-old alexander

blackwell of hyattsville. the three other occupants were hospitalized and the van that struck the tahoe ended up on its side. now the 11 had been month-old girl inside was taken to the medical center with nonlife threatening injuries and the driver was also hospitalized. he is inserious but stable condition. now we spoke to a member of the family of the occupants of the tahoe who say they had actually heard sirens just before the accident and were trying to pull over to get out of the way as you're supposed to do when they re struck by that van. now what remains unclear at this point is wheer there was an actual pursuit, how hot a pursuit that was, and all of those questions are obviously going to be answered as t investigation in this it continues. police are asking anyone who might have witnessed this crash to let them know, to give them a call and tell them what they do anpiece this all together. we are live on cherry hil road. now back to you. >> thank you, derrick.

a moth is making an emotional plea to all drivers after the loss of her daughter in a fiery crash. police say a man high on drugs callsed the wreck that killed her daughter and another man. the wreck happened near lee and james madison highways in gainesville. here's news 4's darcy spencer. >> reporter: the crash happened at this intersection in gainesville about 9:15 friday night. prince william county police say the man who caused this fiery crash was under the influence of pcp. >> i wish i could make the clock go back, but i can't. >> reporter: debbie lost her 20-year-old daughter, meghan jandrositz in a fiery crash at the intersecti of lee and james madison highway. police say the man who caused thcrash, 22-year-old carlos lucas, was speeding and under the influence of drugs. >> i want him to pay for what he done. it's not fair that someone as innocent as she was was taken away from us because of his foolishness. his stupidity. >> reporter: police say lucas

was driving on lee highway when he lost control of his chevy impala, struck this honda acco which burst into flame. meghan, a front se passenger in the accord was ejected and died. her boyfriend, danny, was driving. he was pulled from the burning car by witnesses. 50-year-old david richardson of warrentowas trapped in the back seat and died. they had just made run for kerosene. >> i wish people would think before they get behind the wheel of a car. it becomes a weapon. >> reporter: she says her daughter and danny had just moved in together and were talking about getting married some day. meghan was the youngest of three daughters. she enjoyed working with kids and was talkg about going back to school. >> i hope other people see this and realize they can't do these kinds of things because somebody else could end up the same way my meghan has. she was a good girl. she was a beautiful girl.

>> reporter: police say lucas has been charged with driving under the influence as well as possession with the intent to distribute pcp, but he could face additional charges. in gnesville, darcy spencer, ws 4. grief counselors will be a osbourn high school in manassas tomorr after the stabbing death of a student. police say 18-year-old mauricio martinez along with a 17-year-old, not seen here, attacked 15-year-old miguel hernandez. hernandez was walking home from school friday on a commonly used path by students to get to nearby neighborhoods. manassas police say the northern virginia gang task force helped make the arrest. one parent hopes a greater police presence at the school can help prevent future attacks. >> manassas city could possibly step up patrols durg the time when students are walking from and to school. >> the two teens arrested both face charges of murder and gang

participation. the buzz from alcoholic energy drinks may soon be gone in maryland. attorney general doug gantzler asked the drinks to be banned from stores and bars. his request comes on the heels of the food and drug administration saying caffeine added toour brands of alcoholic energy drinks is unsafe. maryland's controller secured a deal with the state's alcohol wholesalers and retailers wednesday to stop selling the drinks. and starting today montgomery county owned liquor stores will be open o sunday. the 24 stores will be open from noon until 6:00 for the next six months as a trial. now the trials aarntly not designed to rais extra renue for the county but was initiated for customers convenience. revenue from county owned stores contributes to the general fund. privately owned liquor stores are already permitted to sell on sunday. > so what toys will be on the top of your kids' list for

anmerican scientist says that north korea has secretly built a new nuclear facility with incredible speed according to "the new york times." the scientist says he was, quote, stunned by the sophistication of the facility. the washington based think tank has release this had video of the same facility where construction activity can be seen. the obama administration's special envoy plans to visit south korea, china and japan to discuss concerns about north carolina's nuclear plans. and al qaeda of the arabian peninsula says its attempt to blow up printer bombs is part of a new strategy. the group says in an online edition of its magazine inspire that the bombing attempt is an example of small scale attacks in place of large, spectalar offenses. they brag that the attempt was cheap, costing them only $4,200. the cholera outbreak in haiti appears to be spreading.

doctors without borders said yesterday the disease has spread to all the neighborhoods in haiti's second largest city. doctors say they've seen upo 65 patients a day in the past week and cases of the disease are also growing in port-au-prince, haiti's capital, where thousands are still livin in tent cities after january's earthquake. the death toll from the disease has now reached more than 1,100. the dallas exterminator may have a good explanation for what's causing so many recent cases of bed bugs. alexelieves cleaning services or maids are cross contaminating homes. the pest control specialist says the critters can travel from house to house in vacuums and mops and brooms, even cleaning rags one maitd certificamaid service recommds you let them use your own products. another suggestion have all workers come into your house for ings like cable and plumbing repairs wear foot coverings.

9:21. welcome back. we've already broken the 50-degree mark in upper northwest and it's going to be one of theew spots, though. >> we tend to be a warm spot here and i think our gauge may have a little exposure to morning sunshine. maybe a little bit. if you're exposed to morning sunshine, your day is probably going to be better than average. that would be my best guess. >> does that work for you? >> works for me. >> everyone likes a sunny start to the day. today is off to a very bright start. i do think that later on this afternoon cloudsill be a little bit more of a factor. not quite as warm as yesterday either but nonetheless it's still a good looking sunday

morning across the washington area all the way out to the blue ridge anthe shenandoah valley. great weather from the panhandled down into lower maryland this morning. great looking day outside. sunshine bouing off the east facing washington monument there. 47 degrees now our current temperature here in washington. check back into the record books. we've had a nice stretch of mild weather now. 12 out of the last 13 days warmer than average. last november we had 15 of the 30 days last november that were 60 degrees or higher including four days in the 70s. so far this november we've had ten days 60 degrees higher but not one time havewe made i into the 70s just yet. tuesday will be our best and last chance at 70s this month. so for today with the sunshine getting through, temperatures are up into the low and mid-40s. this same timeesterday places out to the northern shenandoah valley in the 50s. you'll notice it's cool er than

the same time yesterday. nonetheless, going to be a good day outside today. the real core of the cold air has stayed well to our north. caribou, maine, 20 degrees right now. buffalo, new york, 32. but the warmer air just back down to the south and west where temperatures have gone up another 10 to 15 degrees over the last 24 hours, that bubble of warm air is going to be pushing back into the area so tomorrow we'll be ba into the 60s once again as that warm air continues to push its way northbound. east to northeasterly breeze in place and as a result five to seven degrees cooler than yesterday afternoon. still mild by november standards,hough, and eventually that whole front washes on out and the warm air comes surging back late monday afternoon and tuesday. sunshine at a premium around here for the next couple of days ter today. but even with the cloud cover around, tomorrow and tuesday, very mild weather indeed. so for today increasing clouds but still a very nice day. highs today upper 50s to maybe even near 60.

then tomorrow another day with a mix of clouds and sunshine but warmer. tomorrow wds come back around to the south and southwest putting temperatures back up into the mid-60s tomorrow afternoon. even with the cloud cover around. and then as we get into tuesday, again, more clouds than sunshine. a slight chance of a little light rain late in the day tuesday and a slight chance of a few showers on the big travel day befor thanksgiving but by the time we get to wednesday temperatures will be on the slide back io the 50s. thursday, unfortunately for thanksgiving, that's our best chce for rain this week. t after thanksgiving is over with, the cold air of an early december comes into next weekend. >> it will be decembery. >> it will be december-ish. >> can we keep the turkey? bring him back nexweekend. >> we'll put him on for christmas. >> he makes us feel good. thank you, chuck. the terps played their biggest football game in years and the caps lok to rebound from friday's ugly loss. hakem dermish has those

weekends in a row this really has been because i think it's been the better part of five or six weekends in a row almost completely rain free let alone warmer than average. another good looking picture outsidfrom our city camera view. the jefferson memorial on the right. the washingtononument in the middle. abraham lincoln out of view to the left. temperatures in the mid to upper 40s now right in the city of washington but low 40s now across most of the suburbs from arlington on out to leesburg and manassas up into the low 40s now. plenty of sunshine. i do think we're going to have decent amounts of sun today. clouds will begin to increase a bit by later on this afternoon as a very weak cool front sort of hangs around the area but still temperatures mild by november standards, upper 50s to near 60 degrees again this afternoon and we'll be back into the 60s tomorrow. near 70 on tuesday. a lot of mild weather. it's coming to an end. >> boise it snowed yesterday. >> a lot of snow in the mountains out west.

>> thank you, uck. in our headlines now this morning detectives say gang violence may be the motive behind the stabbing death of a manassas teenager. police say mauricio martinez, seen here, and a 17-year-old, attacked 15-year-old miguel hernandez friday afternoon. hernandez was walking home from osbourn high school. we have reaction now from the people in that community. i actually got a recorded phone call fm the school message center that a student from osbourn had been stabbed. >> reporter: parents at osbourn high school in manassas are still shaken up after learning a 15-year-old ma student was killed friday afternoon walking home from school. >> well, i know of him. it was my boyfriend's friend, too. so he was walking with him actual. >> reporter: the path just blocks from osbourn high school is a common way many students walk home from school but police say when that 15-year-old male was taking this very same route on friday, he never made it home.

witnesses say around 2:45 he was jumped by a group of males and then stabbed with a knife. the young man's body was found lying in the street behind this white van. >> i came out to see and the crowd from the school had already gathered, and the police cars were here. a young man was laying behind the van. >> reporter: his limp body was airlifted to fairfax hospital where he later died. now many in the community are wondering what will be done to keep the kids safe? >> i don't know what the school can actually do being off school property but clearly the nassas city could possibly step up patrols. >> lately a lot of stuff has been happening in this school that is weird. now we're having like gang problems and stuff but, i mean, it's a really good school. you need somebody who really knows what they're doing to control the school better.

the two teens arrested both face charges of murder and gang participation. grief counselors will be at osbourn high school to help students and faculty deal with the loss. one man is dead, five others injured after two cars collided during a police pursuit. >> one of ose injured was a baby girl and the collision may have resulted from a domestic dispute. derrick ward is live on the scene of that crash with more details. good morning, derrick. >> reporter: good morning. we are indeed on the scene in silver spring. this is cherry hilload and the accident occurred just over the crest of that ll and it ended with one person dead and several injured. as you said it started out apparently wita domestic incident at the ihop at 3:10 yesterday. police were called to the scene by a woman, said that she and her boyfriend d argued and that the boyfriend d driven off in her van without her permission with her 11 -- with their 11-month-old daughter inside. now a short time later

montgory county police discovered the van on cherry hill road in silver spring. now we don't know if it's acally bona fide pursuit at this point. at's being investigated. we do know there was traffic here on the road and the van apparently, which was eastbound trying to avoidthe traffic, crossed over into westbound traffic where it struck a chevy tahoe with four occupants. now that vehicle ended up straddling the westbound lanes and one person inside died at the scene. he's identified as 46-year-old alexander blackwell of hyattsville seated behind the driver. poli say he was not wearing a seat belt. three other occupants were hospitalized and the van that struck the tahoe ended up on its side. the 11-month-old girl was flown to children's national medical center where she is described with nonlife threatening injuries and the driver of the van identified as edwin barber of the district was also hospitalized in serious but stable condition. now police were here on the

scene well into yesterday afternoon, the renstruction teams were out here trying to piece together exactly what happened. police do want to know from anybody who might have seen this accident what they saw that will indeed help them in their investigation. no word yet on wheer any charges have been filed against the driver of the va we're live in silver spring. now back to you. >> all right, derrick ward for us. thank you, derrick. the moerp of a woman killed in a fiery crash hopes speaking out about her -- is now speaking out about her daughter's -- about losing her daughter. carlos lucas was high on pcp friday night when he crashed on lee highway in gainesvil. meghan jandrositz and david richardson both died. meghan's mother says carelessness caused this tragic accident. >> i wish people would think before they get behind the wheel of a car. it becomes a weapon. i hope that other people see this and realize that they can't do these kinds of tngs because

22 kids from the district are spending their first official morning with new families. a judge finalized their adoptions at a ceremony for national adoption day yesterday children, new parents and supporters all showed up at the d.c. superior court to witss the signing of the adoption decrees. about 160 kids ind.c.'s foster care system are still waiting for permanent homes. ll, our favorite segments are the ones that tell the stories of success. >> and this morning barbara harrison takes us to meet the lawson family, a team of mom, dad, and two kids you may remember well. >> reporter: the first time we introduced terry in2002, she was 9 years old. we introduced her again when she was 11. then two years after that. did you know you had a sister befo you met her? >> .

next weekend, i think next weekend may actually be dry as well. but we have rain drops between now and thento contend with.uts morning with the sunshine coming on through, blue sky overhead. some mid level clouds drifting on through. 47 degrees our current temperature at national airport. the last time we a weekend, october the 3rd. sunday, october the 3rd, we had 0.4 an inch of rain. this weekend will make seven in a row without rainfall and if you go all the way back to labor day weekend, september the 1st, that's 12 weekends it's only rained three times on the last 12 weekends. we've had a real nice stretch of weekend weather around here. graciously accepting your votes for employee of the month. outside with e shship out there right now, 43 degrees in falls church. 46 manassas and winchester. 46 in annapolis. celebrating another big win at the naval academy. 48 in southern maryland. relatively mild air from our

area all the way back down to the south. colder air has been bottled up acro northern new york and new england and that's where it's going stay. we just have a little hint of a cooling trend today. temperatures running about five to seven deees cooler. still warmer than averageor this time of the year. you can see our 24-hour temperature change, a bit of a drop. warmer airack out across the middle of the country and that bubble of warm air has nowhere to go but right here over the next couple of days. so this front is going to be washing out over the next 24 to 36 hours as that area of high pressure moves on away. as it does so, a deepening area of low pressure in the middle of the country will open the floodgates to that southwesterly windlow even though we're going to have a decent amount of cloud cover for for tomorrow and tuesday. temperures will be plenty warm well back up into the 60s and by tuesday a lot of spots out to the south and west of washington may touch 70 degrees for the first time in november. for today we'll call increasing clouds. very nice outdoor weather day
