asking whether police were chasing the suspect when he crashed and, if so, should they have been? >> reporter: 46-year-old terrence blackwell was a passenger in the chevy tahoe when it was hit by a van on cherry hill road. his son, a daughter and his girlfriend was driving and were all seriously injured. police responded to a call at a restaurant on tech road from a woman who argued with her boyfriend. that's where it started. >> she stated he had taken her van and their 11-month-old child. >> reporter: police spotted the van eastbound coming upn traffic. they attempted to stop the van. >> he crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. that's when the collision occurred. >> told the driver to swerve right. that's what she did. when the driver served to the right, that's when the collision happened. >> reporter: blackwell worked as a bartender at colonel brooks tavern in d.c. for years.

hernandez was killed friday. the teenage attacked last night knew the people responsible for the attack on hernandez. two people have been arrested. police believe the crime was gang-related. the man suspected of killing a co-worker and using a cardboard boto dump the body has been arrest. police caught polencio yesterday. both worked at an office building steps from the capitol. sources say polencia believed vasquez was having a affair with his wife. vasquez disappeared and his body was found three days later in a box on i-70. the head of the transportation security admintration appears to be relaxingis position on airline security procedures. john pistol now says screening shoulde as minimally invasive as possible. until a few hours ago he said

a violent attack in a neighborhood as people who live there demand action tonight. men attacked a couple off u street. the crime was so traumatizing one of the victims said she's leaving the district. darcy spencer is live in the area where a communit meeting is about to happen. >> reporter: hi, craig. the meeting is happening in this alley where the attack happened on wednesday night. residents hope police can make a quick arrest. they have leads in the case. apparently the suspect used the victim's credit card and cell

phone. a european awe pair and her boyfriend visiting from paris were attacked and robbed in an alley behind 13th street northwest wednesday night around 10:00. dara says her au pair is frightened and going back home. >> initially the au pa gave them her purse but they just wanted to beat them up. they all had pistols. ey hit them inhe head, kicked them in their bodies with their boots and then after all of that then they robbed them, ran off and lefthem bleeding in the alley. >> reporter: the couple were walking home after leaving the restaurant on u street. they were in the alley, a popular cut-through when they re attacked by three young men in masks. >> she's traumatized, scared to sleep. every time she closes their eyes she sees the three men. this act of violence that lasted about five minutes, i think will follow her the rest of her life. >> reporter: neighbors are complaining about crimes in the

alley between s&p streets adjacent to the d.c. parks and recreation facility. a daytime guard at the meeting should be used overnight instead, she says. >> what disturbs me is it wasn't just a robbery. this was violence. it was incredibly violent. >> reporter: she says the victim's credit cards were used at gas stations and the cell phone was used to make calls. she hopes police follow up on the ads. >> we have cell phone use, credit card use. we want to see the mpd focus in on this as a priority and really make sure that the evidence they have in hand is followed up on. >> reporter: d.c. police public information officer didn't respond to the request for information to get details about this investigation. council member jim graham spoke to a high ranking d.c. official and they ashowered him they are following up on leads in the case. reporting live from northwest,

montgomery county liquor stores were open today on a sunday for the first time. the 24 county-owned stores will be open from noon to 6:00 for the next six months on a trial basis. county leaders say part of the motivation is to raise extra revenue. privately owned liquor stores in the county are already permitted to sell on sundays. the caffeine buzz from alcoholic energy drinks may soon be gone in maryland. state health officials were asked to ban the drinks from stores and bars. the request comes on the heels of a warning from the food & drug administration that adding caffeine to alcoholic drinks is unsafe. last week maryland officials secured a tate with the wholesalers and retailers to stop selling drinksaltogether. it was a very speci surprise for one family at today's redskins game in tennessee. die foster and her daughter were on the field
