it's saturday, november 27, 2010. let's check in with meteorologist kim martucci. she's in for chuck bell and her first appearance since having a baby. a baby boy. >> home asleep or maybe awake. it's great to be back. i'm here to deliver a chilly weather forecast. the good news is we're not looking at any rain this weekend. we have mainly clear sks. it is 36. bone dry humidity of 36%. the winds were kicking around last night. they subsided last night. a check at live digital doppler from the bay to the blue ridge mountains. manassas, 27. 36 in town. hagerstown is 33. today plan on a trip to the upper 40s. lots of sunshine for you. i still can't get used to that sunset time of 4:48.

we'll talk about the rest of the weekend and when we'll next see rain again. >> it doesn't go completely bark at 4:48. >> you have some time. it's just weird. in our headlines now one man is dead after his car collided with a tow truck in charles county, maryland. this happened around 8:00 la night 30 night on 301. stanley wallace was driving when he hit a tow truck. wallace wasejected from his car and died from his injuries. the driver of the tow truck didn't suffer any injuries. in d.c. police are looking for a hit-and-run biclist. police say the bicyclist hit a man and a woman in their 70s around the 600 block of massachusetts avenue and didn't stop. both victims were taken to the hospital. six students at dunbar high school in d.c. have been arrested and charged with sexual assault. d.c. police say it happened on monday on campus during school

hours and the victim knew some of the six male students charged. the girl told her parents when she got home from school and went to the hospital for an exam. police say this is an ongoing iminal investigation and because all of the students are juveles their identities would not be released. another police invesgation inside another school, this one in prince george's county. a 15-year-d student at wise high school is accusing a security guard of hitting her. it started over a fight over a cell phone. with. >> reporr: what happened here at wise high school is of conflicting statements and a police investigation. this is what this 15-year-old looked like when her mother saw her at the emergency room on tuesday. >> what happened to this child? did somebody jump her, beat her, no this happened with the hool administration. reporter: no one disputes she

broke the rules at upper marlboro. she used her cell phone to text her response and speak toer motherho was running late to pick u her daughter from school. no one disputes that she was caught by the principal, carletta marrow. >> the principal is calling security. i said no one is going to be handcus on you. i couldn't wraparound my mind that somebody was going to arrest her. >> reporter: when she arrived at the school minutes later and ran inside it was clear someing was wrong. >> they told me she has a little cut and e ambulances here. a little cut. and the ambulance is here. i said are you serious? >> reporter: she said she was confronted by two security officers and physically struck. she was hospitalized and received stitches to close a cut under her eye. the prince george's county school system released a statement that says our information is that the student was not beaten but after not

complying with the principal's request to leave the classroom security psonnel along with the principal worked to strain the student for her safety along with the safety of others in the classroom. the girl sitting between her parents said she doesn want to go back to wise high school. >> i don't want to go bac first thing the kids are childish, you know. not at all. >> reporter: a spokesman for prince george's countyublic schools sa the school system is conducting its own investation. in upper marlboro, jackie bensen, news 4. we're following a story out of portland, erg where a 19-year-old has been arrted while planning to detonate a van full of explosives during a christmas ceremony. mohamed osman mohamud tried to detonate a van but it was a

dude. mohamed osman mohamud was naturalized -- he is a natulized u.s. citizen from somalia and faces a maximum life in prison. new warnings from north korea as u.s. plans to go ahead with military exercises with south korea. north korea called therills expected to start tomorrow an unpardonable provocation and warned of retaliatory attacks. north korea southeastward south korea island with artillery on tuesday killing four people. a funeral was held today for two south korean marines killed. china urged both north and south korea to show reraint. this morning u.s. officials are doing damage control before a whistleblower website hurts its international relationships. wikileaks won't say whenut has said it will leak several classified state department documents. secretary of state hillary clinton has already reach out to several foreign leaders about the expected release.

23-year-old is responsible for getting the reports to wikileaks. he's now in custody and charged with illegally downloading thousands of classified documents. you heard us talk about the first lip? president obama waking up a little sore this morning after catching an elbow to the face on the basketball court. it hppened while he was playing ball with friends and family yesterday at the fort mcnair. the president got 12 stitches in his lip and while the first fami received this year's christmas tree the president was inside the white house with an ice pack looking out the window. the offending elbow belonged to a person who being works for the congressional hispanic constitute. he issued this statement. i learned the president is both a tough competitor and a good sport. i enjoyed playing basketball with him and i'm sure he'll be back out on the court again

heads up now for commuters who use metro smart benefits. employers can provide workers a transit benefit. starting in december riders could use the unused funds on their card at the end of every month. the change stem from a mandate from the irs and depends how employers implement the order. first we had black friday next comes cyber monday and now add small business saturday to the lilgts. it's an effort by american express to get more people shopng at retailers in their own communits. discounts lured in crowds to small businesses yesterday in

stor out of portland, oregon where a 19-year-old has been arrested after plotting to detonate a van full of explosives during a christmas tree lighting ceremony. mohamed osman mohamud was trying to detonate a van he thought was full of explosives but was actually a dude supplied by undercover agents as part of a month long sting operation. mode mode is a naturalized u.s. citizen from somalia. shelters are now up on a south korean island attacked by north korea. the temporary houses are for peopleho lostheir homes tuesday when north korea shered t island with artillery fire. a funeral was held for two south korean marines killed in that take. north korea warns it will retaliate if south korea goes forward with military drills with the u.s. navy tomorrow. the u.s. says the joint eercise was planned well before tuesday's attack. south korean officials say the drills will reinforce its restraint on north korea. new today three weeks after

qantas ground their super jumbo planes the airbus a380 is back in acti. you're looking at video from earlier this month when one of the planes had to make a emergency landing after their engine disintegrated. 500 people were aboard that plane that took off from sidney. 500 people. the airline is only putting two of its six a380s back into service while month die dpags is being made to others. the totals are still coming in on black friday sales. it appears the numbers will be up. major stores like best buy, sears, macy's and toys "r" us reported bigger crowds than last year. many customers are shopping for themselves right now and not just necessities which can be a sure sign of a recovering economy. nationwide analysts expe 138 million shoppers will hit the stores this weekend. that's up 3% from last year.

volunteers will spend the weekend decorating the white house christmas tree. the first family welcomed the 20-year-old douglas fir yesterday afternoon. president obama stayed inside. he had to nurse a busted lip but he did watchhe greeting from a white house window. it's 19 1/2 feet tall. it came from pennsylvania. it will sit in the white house blue om. >> there's a contest for tree that will go into the white house and the guy -- the farm that raised it, that guy's father won the contest for, i thinks one of president bush's first one so there was a tree from that same farm. >> do we know why or how? >> national christmas tree
