south in quantico, that 20-degree mark. same area of kwaunquantico comi with a wind chill of 11 and 8. frederick, maryland coming in with a wind chill of 5. many areas will be near zero. it's not just the cold. there's not one but two chances of snow in my forecast. i'll show it to you cong up. >> thanks, doug. for the second time in eight weeks, agents have arrest aid man in northern virginia for making threats against the metro system. these threats included plansor pipe bombs and made reference to 9/11. jackie bensen joins us live. >> reporter: this happened after someone saw something live on facebook and called authorities. these images show fbi agents showing search warrants to

units. federal prosecutors believe that during an early december facebook chat he said, quote, he could place a pipe bomb under a sewer head in rush hour to create the greatest number of casualties. further stated, certain metro trains had the highest number of commuteron them and he could place pipe bombs on them and they wouldn't be noticed. neighbors say they are shocked. >> they are good people. and i was so shocked. she's trying to raise them and ought them up this far, and one is in college. >> he used facebook to threaten them with authorities. then they sit there wondering

a female member tried to knock him down with her purse. after that failed, he fired shots at other board members. police say he shot and killed himself as a security guard opened fire. none else was hurt. investigators say he may have been angry about his wife losing her job. a fire tore throh one townhouse and spread to two others in largo, maryland tonight. this two-alarm fire started about 7:00 on garrett morgan boulevard. fire officials say the townhouse where the fire began is a total loss, and all six families living in the row of townhouses have to livelsewhere for a while. there were no injuries. the sole survivor of a medical helicopter crash in maryland has filed a $50 million lauit today. jordan wells was originally inred in a car crash in september of '08 and was being flown by medivac to the hospital when that chopper crashed in bad

weathe four others were killed. she is now suing saying the air traffic controller failed to give updated weather information. we wi welsh has had more than 30 surgeries. it will not affect its implementation. that's according to the white house. the ruling says that congress has no power to fce people to buy insurance. but that's not stopping the federal government. officials from 46 states are coming to d.c. this week to discuss setting upstate-sed insurance marketplaces. they will be called exchanges. meanwhile, virginia's governor is urging the administration to bypass the appeals process and move this case directly to the u.s. supreme court. visitors' hour took on a special meaning for some inmates

in northern virginia tonight as the mothers all got a rare chan to hug and kiss their children. jane watrell reports. >> reporter: a running leap into a mother's arms. for many of these arlington coty inmates, it's the first time they've held their children in seven months. >> i didn't want to cry, but i was just happy that someone let us have a christmas momen with them. >> reporter: thichristmas moment is part of a holiday program that allows female inmates contact with their children. arlington county sheriff believes it will help lessen the impact of separation while the women are incarcerate >> the children are not the ones that made bad choices to end up in jail, and as a mother, i think it's really critical and important for the kids to continue hing that relationship with their parents.

it is still not clear what started a fire that killed three generations ofne family in baltimore overnight. firefighters say strong winds intensified the flames, forcing them out of thehouse. the fire spread to three other homes before it was put out, and it is at that point that the

firefighters found six bodies inside. an elderly coup, their granddaughter and her three young children ages nine, three and one. it's also not clear tonight if the house had working smoke detectors. frnds and family members of a famous fashion designer say goodbye to her in northern virginia. sylvie cachay's funeral was held tonight. she was found musrdered in her apartment last week. her boyfriend, nicholas brooks, has been charged with her murder. he is the son of academy award winning songwriter joseph brooks. in just three minutes, one man robbed the bellagio casino in las vegas of $1.5 million. the man came in wearing a motorcycle helmet and went straight to the craps table. he pulled a gun, grabbed as many chips as he could and then ran,

right now 22he current temperature. winds out of the west-northwest at 10 miles an hour. even colder off to the nort and west. hagerstown, 18 degrees. 20 in sterling. down towards quantico, 21. falls church around 20 as well. look at t wind. still gusting upwards of 30 miles an hour in some locations. 32-mile-an-hour wind gusts in sterling, and this puts the wind chills in the single digits. 3 degrees in sterling, 3 in hagerstown, 5 at andrews air force base in quentin, but we're still dealing with it here and it's going to be a very cold night tonight. wind chill advisory well to the west of us because wind chills may be down to minus 10 in western portions of virginia. we still have that northwesterly flow. we're not going to see them tonight. we'll see clea skies, windy, very cold conditions overnight

tonight and into the day tomorrow. that cold air is ging to set the stage for ou next storm system that will come in here on thursday. this will bring us some accumulated snowfall. how much? i think an inch, maybe an ich and a half. at most two inches. but that will still cause problems because all of this will be on the road. ere will be no melting from this, so we cou still deal with some problems on thursday, so one to two inches. it's not a lot of snow, but that's what we could be seeing. for you tomorrow morning, mostly clear skies, windy and very cold. 15 to 18 degrees, wind chill between 0 and 8. there's that snow on thursday. a good chance of that snow now, more like a 70% chance. then on fday and saturday, temperatures near the 40-degree ma. then on sunday, we've been talking about this in some other areas. you may have heard a big storm coming. not going to happe i think this one will move out to sea now. >> you're confident. >> i am pretty confident about this, but we'll still watch.

we have some video from a tv station in dallas. the crew was doing a story abou an armed robbery at an atm when a man pulled a hood over his head and snuck up on an suv that was at the atm, clearly robbing it. a few seconds later the driver sped off and the man in the hood was seen then trying to punch numbers into the atm and get his money out. the news crew called police. a few minutes later the robber was arrested and is thought to be the same suspect who had robbed the at previously, which is the whole reon the news crew was there. so there. a city bus driver in illinois resigned today after a run-in with a snowman. the snowman was built in the road by some students who wanted to see what would happen. one car swerved to avoid it, but thbus coming the other direction dre straight int

pirate lovers got a look at artifacts found on black bed's ship today. more than 100 items were shown to the public at the east carolina university, including coins and swords recovered from the ship called queen ann's revenge. the ship was lost at sea for more than 300 years. it was discovered in 1996 and different items have now been slowly recovered ever since. and that's it. the tonight show is next.
