bombs rain down and libya today, but they were not

american bombs. some nasty weather hit nasa and the space shuttle. and the guy grouping people on metro. we'll tell you what happened to him. good evening. i'm jim vance. dor seen off tonight. woman riding metro, she sensed that something definitely was not right, when she felt another rider rub up against her. so she watched the guy for a couple of weeks and noticed it happened again and again to other people. it was on the commute frto the pentagon. darcy spencer is at the station now to explain what happened next. darcy? >> reporter: jim, as you can imagine, this woman is still very shaken up, but she was able to provide a very detailed description of this suspect who metro, as well as to a very popular website, which posted that information and that's what led to his arrest. >> reporter: metro transit police have arrested a man accused of groping women on subway cars. the arrest came after a victim

posted his description all the way down to his ralph lauren glasses on a popular blog called, unsuck dc metro.blog spot.com. >> i think that it's disgusting and i i'm glad he got caught. >> reporter: the victim named alley called police was rubbing against himself against young women on the train. she posted as he gets on the train at the metro, and gets off at the pentagon, always riding in the last train car. she posted the man's description including that he wears track suits, a white watch, and the glasses with heavy black frames. a metro transit investigator apparently mon, to the site saw the posting and arrest the the suspect charging him with assault and battery. >> i think that's awesome because metro does get a lot of bad press but i'm happy to hear that they caught the guy. >> reporter: the victim tells news4 that while metro catches a lot of flack, she's grateful that police pursued her tip and that the blog ran the

information to alert other riders. she says, "i hope this successful outcome will encourage more women to speak up and report these kinds of crimes." this man founded the unsuck metro website to make the system more accountable. he wants to remain anonymous. >> when people like that feel comfortable enough to come forward and tell stories that may not be the most uplifting type of story, but leads to some action that makes metro better, of course i'm very happy about that. >> reporter: metro officials want any other women who feel they may have been victimize said by the alleged groper to give them a call. reporting live from southwest, darcy spencer, news4, jim back to you. >> thank you, darcy. police are hoping pictures of the kind of car that was involved in a deadly hit and run in southeast might jog somebody's memory and lead to an arrest. it happened earlier this month near the intersection of benning road and h street. 55-year-old gary green was killed when he was hit crossing

the street while he was in his wheelchair. investigators are looking for a 2000 or 2001 silver toyota camry with considerable front-end damage. the bell gan military bombed a military compound in libya, that country released video today of its fighter jets in action. the bombing is part of the nato-led effort to enforce the no-fly zone over libya. belgium is contributing six f-16s to the military effort there. on the ground rebels in libya are trying to hold off moammar gadhafi's forces from advancing toward their stronghold in benghazi but libyan government another issue to deal with and that's the defection of a high-ranking government official. the man was the minister -- foreign minister, that is of libya, but he's in great britain now, his name is moussa koussa. he is believed to have been deeply involved in the 1988 lockerbie bombing.

he's currently being questioned by british intelligence. religious groups are quite upset arch state officials evicted a number of people from a homeless camp. as many as 100 people are now shut out of the facility. that's dale city, virginia, near the clover leaf exit on i-95. jackie bensen is in woodbridge now with more on this. jackie? >> reporter: jim, very few people even knew that these campsites were even there. chopped away in the wooded areas around the ramps for exit 156 the dale boulevard of i-55 was a secret world. unseen by the tens of thousands of motorists passing by every day. it was the last refuge for a few dozen people with no home, no job, and no money. now they've been told to leave by owners of the land, the virginia department of transportation, who say there have been complaints about the camp's creating a distraction

for drivers. >> so as you have motorists coming through, may encounter pedestrian not expecting to see someone walking across the ramp, so it's a safety for the individuals living here as well for motorists trying to travel through the area. >> reporter: pastor kurt ludwig the st. paul methodist church in woodbridge ministers to many of those who were uprooted. >> i think it's like a foreclosure on the homeless. i don't understand why there wasn't any coordination between the local authority and social services or the churches or anybody. >> reporter: residents of the camp say they were not given enough notice to move their possessions which aren't much but are all they have. >> this is not a joke. this is really going to hurt me. i'm 62 years old. where am i going? where am i going to go? >> virginia department of transportation officials have posted no trespassing signs in the area and they say they intend to enforce that. jim, back to you. >> jackie ben son, thanks. mayor benson gray was booed

at national's home opener today. >> let's play ball! >> the booes beganast mayor announced "play ball" to open the season. this comes allegations of nepotism and cash payouts during his mayoral campaign. earlier in month a mcclairist poll shows. 31%. they found that missing snake at bronx zoo, it's an egyptian cobra, a very poisonous snake, the snake is smoechkts old. disappeared from a holding case about a week ago. the zoo officials say they found her this morning curmed up in a dark corner of the reptile house. they say the snake appears to be healthy but they're still evaluating her. >> for a week, we want to make sure she's okay and when she's -- when we're sure that she's in good condition and she's healthy, we will reopen the building and plan to put her

on the exhibit. >> so officials say that now that the snake is back they'll try to figure out how it got loose in the first place. they say after all of this attention, they just might hold a contest to give the snake a proper name. coming up, a damage report after the kennedy space center was hit with some nasty weather. a former astronaut who attacked a romantic rival making a special request. and hospital changed its policy about using new faucets. >> and jim, our weather's been a little nasty around our area over the past couple of days as well. what is it going to be like tomorrow when you are stepping out of the door? what about the weekend?

crews from nasa are inspecting the space shuttle "endeavour" after high winds and hail battered the launchpad down there in florida. the bad weather hit the kennedy space center yesterday. there was some minor damage to the shuttle's external fuel tank. the final mission for that shuttle is scheduled for april 19th. a former astronaut who made national headlines with an alleged attack with an attack that is on a romantic rival is back in the news tonight. lisa novak asked a judge to seal her criminal record. she said that'll help her get a job. she was arrested back in 2007 after driving from houston to orlando to confront another

woman who was dating her lover. today, the judge denied her request. police have arrested two men in the murder of a university of maryland student. 22-year-old justin deshea overcast was shot and killed in a house in college park back in january. today, police announced the arrest of 22-year-old stefan weaver and 23-year-old deandre williams. according to court documents, the two were looking for drugs and money. the victim's mother says her son was not involved in any illegal activity at that house. >> that this came to fruition so quickly, i cannot even tell you in words how much this easing a lot of my pain. my son's honor is intact and the person who has done this has told the sflugt both weaver and williams are being held without bond. the ongoing work on the 14th street bridge is going to force

drivers to adjust to a new traffic pattern. transportation crus will be moving the barriers in the center lane to the north half of the bridge. drivers, then, will have to navigate around an island of construction. the change is expected to begin on monday. it's part of an effort to make over the 14th street bridge. that project is expected to be finished some time in the fall. coming up tonight, new radiation concerns in japan and now they're spreading to the u.s. a major grocery store chain wants customers to stop buying certain kinds of food. the weekend might not be a

there's new concern tonight that the evacuation zone around japan's fukushima nuclear plant isn't large enough. the officials say they found high levels of radiation in soil 25 miles away. in the u.s., trace amounts of radiation were found in milk in california and in washington state. but experts say those levels do not pose a threat. there's a new study from johns hopkins university that suggests that the hands-free faucets actually might harbor more bacteria than the traditional kind. just identified a waterborne

activity in half of the water samples taken from hands-free faucets near patient rooms in the hospital. the bacteria was found in only 15% of the samples from traditional faucets in the same areas. researchers believe the new faucets might foster bacteria's growth. johns hopkins is going to go back to the old-fangzed kind. one of the top providers of sushi in this country is urging consumers to stop eating one of the world's most popular but endangered fish. company has joined with environmentalists to sound the alarm about the near extinction of the bluefin tuna. wendy rieger has our report. >> reporter: bluefin tuna listed on menus as toro is a melt in your mouth delicacies and because of that it's in big trouble. we are overfishing and overeating it and now the bluefin tuna is near extinction. there has been a 72% decline in its population.

send the kids off to school. current temperatures back into the 30s right now. back into the west. 43 in quantico. len around coming down in at 41 degrees. around the area the entire east coast on the cool side. a high of only 36 today and look at riley, north carolina, only 48. their average high is into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. so everybody is in on this little cool snap. here comes the rain that we'll see overnight and into tomorrow morning. it's not a lot of rain but you can't expect to use that umbrella as you step out tomorrow. an area of low pressure passing us off to the east, continue to do so tomorrow morning. we'll stay on the chilly side, teenager late afternoon. i think that we'll get to the 50-degree mark but with some winds gusting up to ten, to 20 miles an hour. tomorrow will be a fairly chilly day. saturday will start off chilly and then i think that we'll see a bit of a warm-up. tomorrow mostly clouder. isolated rain showers. 33 to 38 degrees. tomorrow afternoon we will warm up by about ten degrees from where we were today with high temperatures in the low to mid
