prosecutors say dr. murray is trying to erase evidence of treatment methods. one of the body guards took the witness down today. jurors heard the help call made to 911 for the first time. we are live in los angeles for the latest developments on this. stephanie? >> reporter: governor, doreen. michael jackson's chef is on the stage. we have been hearing testimony from the security guard who called 911. they have been laying the ground work for a possible cover up the day jackson died. sop of alvarez's testimony appeared to support that theory. after two days of testimony, members of the the jackson family arrived for day three of the trial. a key witness for the prosecution, security guard alvarez testified about the critical minutes when the pop star stopped breathing.

>> reporter: guilt dr. murray's attorneys deny in a trial that is just beginning. of course members of the jackson family are watching this trial from inside the courtroom. we understand that kathryn jackson got very distraught when they played the 911 tape in court. she had to be comforted by her son, randy. we saw her leave an hour to hour and a half ago. today, one of the members of the general public got kicked out of court. their cell phone went off. the cell phone was taken and they were removed from the room. only six seats available for the public. they have to take part in the lottery. tough to get in there and one gets kicked out. now, jackson's personal chef continues testimony on the stand. that is the latest live in los angeles. >> stephanie, thank you. police in arlington are looking for the man who kicked and sexually assaulted a jogger

on army navy drive. the 37-year-old woman was running when a man came up, knocked her to the ground before sexually assaulting her. the woman fought back and screamed. she was taken to a nearby hospital. police want to remind people on trails to be aware of their surroundings. >> i mean, everyone should be as safe as possible and try to carry their cell phone with them. if they feel their situation is unsafe, get to a situation where they feel comfortable. the woman was on a sidewalk. the attack does not appear to be in any other areas. the man accused of plotting to blow up the pentagon has been indicted by a grand jury in boston. rez won is a u.s. citizen. he's been charged with plotting to blow up federal buildings. investigators say he planned an elaborate plot to fit model

planes and launch them into the building. his neighbors in ashland massachusetts and those who know him are rattled by the request. >> scary. sorry. >> his parents are nice people. i never -- it blew me away. >> court papers say he wanted to terrorize the u.s. by decapitating the military center and by killing as many people as possible. >> the fbi says the attack would have never materialized because they had him under constant surveillance. we are hearing a new account of a fight that left a george washington law student, an army vet dead in d.c. his parents say he was killed while breaking up a fight outside the mcdonalds. sources now tell news 4 that he and his friends were involved in the fight. they say they started it inside the restaurant. investigators identified everyone in the fight with surveillance video. a grand jury will decide if

anyone will face charges. the maryland man accused of impersonating vince young could soon be out of jail. he was charged with fraud and bilking women out of their money. derrick ward is live with what happened inside the courtroom today. >> reporter: what we learned here today is he could stay in jail a bit longer in the district because of something more serious than the fraud charges he's facing here. the 33-year-old has been ordered held in the district for three more business days to allow texas authorities to come get him. he's a fugitive and wanted on a sex offense in the lone star state. >> trust no one. trust no one. get a written signed contract to go after them. >> today, a woman who is one of his victims showed up in court. this was a preliminary appearance, she thought it was important to be here. >> i would like to see him

maryland sex offender registry in denton county, texas. it stems from a sexual assault on a 23-year-old women there. if texas officials do not pick him up, he's released on bond. he will have to report to a parole officer and go for drug testing. he will be placed on a 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew. if he's not picked up from texas, he's due to appear back in court on october 18th. >> derrick ward, thank you. for a change, there are positive signs about our economy today. economic experts say it suggests the nation may not be headed for a double dip recession. the numbers aren't big enough to affect the debate. rick perry had sharp words for the federal reserve and social security system. steve handelsman reports.

we saw a few showers. these were early in the afternoon. as expected in portions of maryland, right now, we are high and dry. not a single shower to show on the radar picture. it's good news. there is more rain back toward the west. here is a big area, a big upper low. this is the first one. it's the one that has been sitting and spinning for days and days and days. now, another one kicking this out to the east. this is the one behind the frontal boundary with a lot of cool air behind it. it's going to make its way to our region over the next few days. talk about the frontal boundary through us, it's moved through. clear skies out there now. really, a nice night. a little on the cool side. you might need the light jacket. the cool and rather windy air moves in. i think we are going to need the jackets and maybe even the coats saturday morning and sunday morning. speaking of saturday, this area of low pressure is going to be

a florida child is safe after being pinned under a car yesterday. the 6-year-old was getting out of a vehicle at school when he tripped and fell and was pinned under an approaching car. police and several bystanders worked together to pull the boy out. he was rescued and taken to a local hospital. injuries nonlife threatening. a report from a fake newspaper. the onion broke a bogus story

about a hostage situation inside the capital. at 10:33, they posted this tweet, breaking, witnesses reporting screams and gunfire. that was followed up by another false tweet about kids being held hostage by armed congressmen. they posted a link to this video claiming it was posted by one of the hostages. the u.s. capital police released saying conditions are normal and there's no credibility to the tweets. one of facebook's practices are under fire and it may be under a federal investigation soon. a tech blogger discovered it tracks users browsing history even after they log off. the congressmen want the federal trade commission to look into that practice. ed marky and joe barton said they were concerned about this monitoring of personal online

in the defense for the woman accused of murdering 2-year-old granddaughter. lawyers say she's not responsible for her actions last november. details emerged about the relationship she had with her granddaughter. julie carey reports. >> my lovy is the pet name carmella had for the granddaughter she's now accused of killing. her cousin testified that she was once a proud grandmother, always saying look how beautiful angela is. she's so adorable. that cousin and others testified she went into a deep depression. she's not the same carmella anymore. she testified she talked to her by phone just days before the grandma threw the 2-year-old off a tyson's walk way. she's pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. a depression in 2008 when she

suspected her teenage daughter was pregnant. she called crying if she's pregnant, i think i'm going to kill myself. i'm not a good mom. a succession of doctors and psychiatrists that treated her also testified. dr. cynthia gosk diagnosed a depressive disorder but did not exhibit psychotic symptoms. one psychologist testified she didn't seem to know why she was here and what was going on around here. defense hopes that testimony bolsters the claim she was unaware of what she was doing when she threw her over the railing. the video taped confession shows she planned the crime to get even with her son-in-law. she resented him for her daughter's out of wedlock pregnancy and from taking cat from the family. the victim's parents continue to observe the trial.

testimony resumes on monday as they call more mental health professionals to the stand. >> the trial is expected to go to the jury sometime next week. a virginia coach is facing charges for assaulting a teenager during football practice. the 28-year-old coaches for the upper louden football league. police say he confronted a 14-year-old player yesterday and shoved him to the ground. other coaches had to get invo e involved. after talking to parents he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor simple assault. he's free on a $2500 bond. maryland governor met with state officials to look at the crime crackdown. the public safety initiative worked to bring down crimes to record lows. last year, violent crime was down more than 6%, the lowest rate since 1978. o mally says critical

after more than three decades the first female firefighter in the county is hanging her boots. her last day on the job. >> reporter: it's an emotional day at fire station one as co-workers say good-bye to a fire fighting pioneer. pamela became the first woman to finish recruit school and become a full time member of the fire and rescue service after filling her promise to the men that hired her that she would last at least 25 years. she's now retiring. >> my day tomorrow is going to be horrible when i walk out of here. i's going to be horrible for me. a little bit of relief, but the emotions i can't tell you what i'm feeling. >> reporter: as a child, she grew up near a fire station and knew she wanted to be a

firefighter. during her first few days in an all male station. a lot has changed. there was no such thing asthma ternty leave and couldn't order gear and uniforms to fit her smaller frame. they only came in men's sizes. when she wanted to use the bathroom, which were only for men, she had to flip a sign similar to this to let the guys know she was inside. >> dealing with her hair was an issue because everyone had the standard cut. >> white walls. a lot of people don't know what is that is. off your ears and shaved off the collar. icon formed to that because i wanted this job. >> reporter: over the course of her career, she fought 1,000 fires, saves a dozen people. she's now cleaning all those accomplishments out of her locker, getting ready for life outside the station.

next week, looking fantastic. >> you know we need a boost. >> we do. >> you bet. >> a 91-year-old veteran is finally getting the recognition many say is well-deserved and long overdue. he enlisted in the army in 1942. he served in the philippines. he was presented with half a dozen medals for his service. he received the american campaign and world war ii victory medals. he says he's most proud of his good conduct medal. it took so long for him to receive his awards because his records were destroyed in a fire many years ago.
