9:28 am
shelter. that's typical of what's been going on here. at the beginning of this protest, we told you last weekend which the occupy d.c. protesters first came and started converging, they had the air and space museum. it sort of resulted probably from some misunderstanding about the rules and regulations. demonstrators wanted to take signs inside. things got a little heated. some people were pepper sprayed. one person was detained for a short time, a female involved in the demonstration. she paid a fine and was released later the same day. again, with so many causes being represented among the people here it is likely there will be

more mobilizations. bruins will probably come down from mcpherson square and join here at freedom plaza. the typical morning starts out with announcements from the stage. logistics here. they made sure people are fed. coffee, fruit and other kinds of food. just on the other side, you have taste of d.c. now, whether or not you have people here joining the taste of d.c. activities, it's questionable because there are corporate sponsorships. banks and things like that. and that is the antithesis of what folks believe. i did notice yesterday you did find people wandering over. as a matter of fact, a couple of marchers came around the taste of d.c. and they went peaceful. police walking in front of them and back of them. they had to cross the line for people waiting to get into taste of d.c. everything went fine.
9:30 am
whether or not you had people join this activity i think indeed some of that was going on. this is the last permitted day. that means these tents and some of the structures will have to go down. but the occupation, as we heard from a lot of folks, may not end with that. mcpherson square group said they plan to be as long as possible and the group hearsay they plan to be here as long as possible as well. of course we have the army 10-miler blocking traffic in some of the areas around here. this will be blocked off until the taste of d.c. extends. that will extend through the extended weekend as well. so lots of reasons to come downtown. and even to get politically involved or to express your views. when they named it freedom plaza, i don't know if theyen advised this activity here.
