cert. according to some reports, that is how and where moammar gadhafi was caught and killed. arab experts say whether it makes america safer is unknowable. i'm steve handelsman, news 4. moammar gadhafi admitted libya was responsible for the bombing of pan am 103 prior to the september terror attacks. it was the worst attack directed at americans. the flight from london to new york crashed december 21st, 1988. 270 people were killed. the vast majority of them, american. a woman in new jersey lost her 20-year-old daughter. she said she's buying a bottle of expensive champagne to celebrate gadhafi's death. we are following breaking news in montgomery county where two firefighters were injured battling a fire. this is over the 6600 block.

this fire broke out an hour ago. it started on the front side of the home, spreading throughout. firefighters on the scene were told to evacuate at one point. two injured firefighters were not hurt and will not be taken to the hospital. the owner was not home at the time. we'll bring you the latest as more details are available. if you have been outside, it started out as a beautiful day and became blustery. >> the winds have picked up. veronica johnson is in the weather center with more. >> it's funny how the weather gets us that way in the afternoon. yeah, we started out with sunshine and breezy conditions. quickly, by the afternoon, the clouds rolled in and the winds picked up. earlier today, the winds were just under 40 miles per hour. take a look, winds gusting up to 26 miles per hour.

get over into prince george's county, and clinton, maryland. the winds are gusting up to 30 miles per hour. most locations settled down to 20 to 25-mile-per-hour wind gusts and going to be pretty breezy in the evening hours and for a portion of the overnight. look at the radar. sunshine and clear skies. we have clouds rolling in about lunchtime today. the entire area now overcast. our temperature stands at 59 degrees with a south and southwest wind, sustained at 18 miles per hour. again, it's the higher gusts we are getting. we have, well no rain reported from the clouds here. up to the north, take a look in pennsylvania and to the west. there's a lot of rain and a lot more wind just to the northwest. wait until you see what chicago has been dealing with today. noaa is out with their winter

outlook today. if you are wondering what we could be getting here this winter, we'll give you a tees. back to you. >> thanks. police are looking for three suspects after a man was shot and killed in washington overnight. he was riding the bus near the 2100 block of alabama avenue at midnight. he was shot on the bus. he was found lying on the street and died at the hospital. investigators are trying to figure out why he was shot to e begin with. firefighters find a body inside a burning car. the vehicle was at the 2900 block in forestville early this morning. tracee wilkins explains why the location comes as a surprise to investigators. >> reporter: for those not familiar, it's an industrial park. people who work here tell me

during overnight hours, criminals often use the road to come and dump stolen vehicles, strip them and burn them. police patrolled this road overnight because of those issues. it was a surprise when they discovered what happened over that way where you see the burn marks there. fire was called out here before 1:00 a.m. for a vehicle on fire. once they put the fire out, they found there was a person inside the burning vehicle. because the person was so badly burned, they have no information on sex, race or the age of the deceased. they have not been able to identify this person, either. >> the vehicle was so badly burned, we don't know the make or model of the truck that person was in. police are not calling this a homicide. they have to await autopsy results to know. they are investigating the vehicle to find more

information. >> that was tracee wilkins reporting from forestville. a federal government owned landmark in gorgetown is up for sale. it's according to "the washington post." it's an abandoned art deck coe plant. it sits on two acres. it's part of the obama administration plan to sell federal property across the country. the government owns $1.2 million in property costing taxpayers $20 billion to operate and maintain. a company is recalling thousands of bags of salad. no illnesses reported. the salad blends come in several varieties. they could be sold under the name taylor farms or fresh selections, ehb or marketside. some were sold in virginia. the selby dates, october 18-21. call 877-323-7374 for more

noaa put out their winter outlook today. the areas in green, wet. the areas in yellow and brown, dry. notice, we are right on that line, again. so, there is indication the climate factors in place last year, the la nina that we are going to go back into that. it's a similar year to last year. the storms are going to be right on the line. chicago, remember the images of lakeshore drive last year? they may be looking at similar images. i'm not going to be overly specific about our area. right now, it's a similar pattern. you know, it wasn't that hard to get through. we'll put out a winter forecast in a week or two weeks. let's talk about what's going on now. started out with sunshine, the clouds moving in. now, overcast.

the aftermath of the tragedy in ohio continues. we must warn you, this contains graphic pictures. in eastern ohio, life is getting back to normal after the exotic animals were released. most had to be killed by sheriff's deputies. we have more from the community. >> i describe it as a war zone. >> reporter: with the threat of roaming, dangerous animals gone, sam can talk about his close encounters. >> it appeared to be a bear. i turned and 30 feet on the other side of a wire was a male, african lion.

came up here and asking what we saw. he dropped his notebook and went off and killed three down here. >> reporter: the shooting continued throughout tuesday night and wednesday morning until all 49 released animals had been killed. mountain lions, african lions, bears and tigers. they agree, there was no choice but to kill the animal. the farm owner doomed them all by setting them free before he shot himself in a suicide. >> he did have a bite wound to his head area that the doctor said would be consistent from a larger type cat. >> reporter: the car kuss of the 49 animals are buried here on the farm where they were raised. the locals are somewhat sympathetic. >> it's a sad tragedy.
