we'll get the latest on the story. the hpv vaccine, usually when we talk about it, we're talking about young girls receiving the vaccine, we're talking about boys. dr. nancy snyderman will weigh in on that. we're talking about glenn beck known for his hot button issues and comments, in an interview he shows a softer and emotional side, as he looks at his childhood and why he would never want to be his wife or kids. we'll hear from three big stars, we got eddie murphy, antonio banderas, and selma hayek. with hurricane rina approaching mexico's popular caribbean resort areas, al's upstairs with the latest oen this. good morning. >> matt, ann, thanks so much. this is a powerful storm but it is very compact. hurricane rina, category 2 storm with 110 miles-per-hour hours,

235 miles south southeast of cozumel, moving west at 5 miles per hour so it has picked up some steam. as we look at the path of this system it looks like it's going to cross the yucatan peninsula right there along the eastern tip sometime early friday morning around 2:00 in the morning with 100-mile-per-hour winds and saturday makes a right turn and between cuba and key west. we can't rule out the fact that southern florida may feel effects probably as a tropical storm but could be a minimal category 1 storm. the models don't all agree what this is going to do, which way is it going to go. you can see over the next several days there are models that bring it close to southern florida. we'll continue to watch this because the problem this storm has the potential to dump a lot of rain in the keys and southernmost parts of florida. matt? >> thanks very much, al. we'll get your forecast coming up in a moment. for now let's get a check of the morning's top stories

savannah guthrie in for natalie at the news desk. >> good morning, ann and matt. in the news today, oakland, california, tensions are running high between occupy wall street protesters and police there. officers in riot gear used tear gas on demonstrators as clashes cropped up throughout the day and night. police said the tear gassing was touched off when protesters started throwing rocks and bottles. in atlanta, more than 50 protesters were arrested in a park including a state senator. more stunning rescues this morning in turkey, some three days after a devastating earthquake trapped people in the rubble. nbc's michelle franzen is in ercis, turkey, with more. michelle, good morning to you. >> reporter: well, savannah, it's day four here since the earthquake struck and the chances of surviving beneath the rubble now diminish with each hour but still, there are stories of dramatic rescues, just four overnight and another one just taking place a short time ago, that's giving workers the hope they need to keep

searching. a university student was pulled from the wreckage of a collapsed apartment building overnight, injured, but alive. the 18-year-old was trapped for more than 60 hours before rescuers in ercis reached him. the city is the hardest hit by sunday's major earthquake. it comes just hours after the miraculous rescue of a baby girl, born just two weeks ago, pulled alive from the collapsed apartment building that was her home. her name is azra. somehow she survived for two days and frigid nights. her rescue triggered jubilation. cradled by her rescuers she was rushed to a waiting ambulance, but azra was not alone. her family had been buried with her, her mother, sakin, still trapped, had managed to lift her baby to the arms of rescuers. she was pulled out soon after and rushed to the hospital. then azra's grandmother was found and she, too, was carried to safety. hope mixed with the reality that searchers are recovering more

bodies than survivors. hundreds are still missing, and thousands displaced from their homes, and waiting for more aid and shelter. they gathered today along a road outside the city, where a new shipment of tents was due to arrive. meanwhile, baby azra and her mom were flown to ankara for medical treatment, together again and doctors say doing fine. and that work around the clock continues here. workers concentrating on this spot down the road. crews are also trying to locate azra's father, still missing, and said to be at the home at the time of the earthquake. savannah? >> michelle franzen in ercis turkey, thank you. long time "60 minutes" commentator andy rooney is in the hospital after complications following surgery. cbs says the 92-year-old is in stable condition now but offered no other information. famous for his crumudgeonly

campaign. the conversation in washington has stopped. his jobs bill is not going anywhere. he tried to break it down. it's still not going anywhere. now the president is trying to do things he can do by himself, whether it's on housing or student aid, this is microtargeting, trying to target some individual voter groups where he can make a difference on the economy and trying to go to states and use forums like the leno show where he can directly reach people and get outside of the din of washington. >> is there anything in governor rick perry's flat tax plan that might give him some traction? >> well, look, these flat tax ideas have become all the rage here in the campaign because of herman cain. can you believe it? but that's what's happening and now republicans are rushing to do something that a lot of americans want, which is to get rid of the tax code. there is so much disaffection and frustration right now washington, the idea of getting rid of the tax code is very popular. the problem is, this does help the rich. it hurts a lot of the poor and the middle class. political professionals i talked to say the problem with the flat tax ideas is once voters look at

it a second or third time they don't like it much. a lot of voters in the iowa caucuses are not necessarily rich so it may not stand the test of time and oh, by the way, how do you get it passed when nobody can agree on tax reform right now? >> that's right. herman cain, who forced this tax debate, this idea ofdebate, he' new web video featuring his campaign manager smoking. what do you think the video is trying to say to us, david? >> i have no idea. i mean, i don't know whether they're selling camel cigarettes or selling a candidate, but i mean all i can tell you is that the writers of "saturday night live" can put up their feet because the work has been done for them. that's completely crazy, honestly, and this is indicative of what a lot of people say is the problem with herman cain. herman cain is leading in polls in key states, including ohio in a poll out but an ad like that seems to reflect the fact that he doesn't have an organization that's up to snuff.

he doesn't have a message. i mean, to use some of the campaign manager who is not known and take that tight shot of him smoking honestly it's just bizarre. i don't know what they're trying to convey. >> there's something clearly unconventional about herman cain's campaign and is there something about the unconventionality that actually is appealing to voters? >> well, yes, put the ad aside and the answer is yes, there's no question. he's an outsider who's running an outside kind of campaign, that's resonating right now. you look at polling that's come out within the last couple of weeks, including the one that's out today. people who actually either blame the government or don't trust the government is near 90% of those polled. that gives room to somebody like herman cain, who does have a simple message, who is an done a lot of interviews and comes across quite well. that's quite different from spending campaign funds on an ad that doesn't appear to make any sense. >> david gregory, thanks for your reflection this is morning. appreciate it. it is now 7:14, here's matt.

a new recommendation when it comes to your kid's health. on tuesday a federal advisory committee said young boys should be vaccinated against the human papilloma virus. dr. nancy snyderman is here with details on this. >> hi, matt. >> you want to walk into a room and bring up an argument with parents it's vaccines. hpv affects girls at a higher rate than it does boys. why this recommendation? >> we used to think that. now we're seeing a big uptick, over 200% increase in head and neck cancers related to the virus. it's not just cervical cancer in women and it's not just head and neck cancer in men but also now been linked to heart disease in women so now we're talking about a sexually transmitted disease that is proven to cause cancer later in life >> when you talk about sexually transmitted diseases, that raises another question for parents, a, it gets into the whole debate do they want to start to think their kids are sexually active and do they want

to have that conversation with kids? will that make it harder for some parents to go this route? >> i think it was a terribly marketed vaccine. it came out as a sort of now you can be sexually promiscuous vaccine. they got it wrong. to me it's an anti-cancer vaccine. the reason you inoculate kids early you want them to have the antibodies to the virus when they get exposed down the line. the recommendation was 11 to 13 but what never made sense to me, if you have a sexually transmitted virus and boys are on the carriers, even if the burden is on the girls why not vaccinate everyone? the cdc now says let's start vaccinating boys and girls. >> it comes in three shots, about $300. will the recommendation make it more likely for more insurance plans to cover it. >> i hope not only that but will decrease the hurdle for parents to get it. it's sort of a clumsy vaccine because you need three of them.

do you it as a preteen, that scares some parents and yes, a lot of vaccines haven't been covered by insurance, i'm hoping that's now going to push carr r carriers to insure. >> cold and flu season is coming up. on tuesday a study out says carrying extra weight on your body, people overweight or obese have less, the flu shot is less effective for them. why is that? >> right, so the flu shot is different every year, based on what we think is going to be infectious. two groups of people, obese and the el earl, it doesn't seem to work as well. i don't want people to get the message then i won't get my shot. i think it's important for people around obese people or the elderly to make sure you're immunized so you don't bring the virus home to them and put them at risk. the elderly die preferentially because the virus attacks them because their immune systems are down, die of secondary pneumo a pneumonia. it can be a lethal disease even in mild flu seasons. >> nancy snyderman, thanks very much. it's 7:17. once again here's ann. >> thanks.

britain's queen elizabeth ii is in the middle of an australian tour but as a proposed change to the ancient law of british royal succession that's getting a lot of attention. sara james is in melbourne. sara, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, ann. queen elizabeth is here to meet with leaders of the commonwealth nations, countries like australia, which remain part of the british empire. her 16th trip here is filled with tradition, but it might also overturn a sexist tradition, which is three centuries old. >> welcome to her majesty, the queen. >> reporter: on hand to open melbourne's royal children's hospital the queen looked sharp and vigorous, showing little sign that she is 85 years old, still contemplating royal's succession is as old as the british monarchy, meaning these children aren't the only ones in the spotlight. there's plenty of talk about babies yet to be born, specifically any offspring of

the duke and duchess of cambridge. >> i don't think that's going to happen immediately, because obviously she's still learning the job of being a royal princess, but obviously that's their priority. >> reporter: if william and kate have a bouncing baby boy, he's william and heir apparent but if they have a daughter first and then a son the younger boy becomes the royal heir. >> at the moment the sovereign has to meet certain qualifications, the heir, the direct sense which is biased towards males. >> reporter: in japan the country's first born male policy is in the constitution and little princess aiko is unlikely to sit on the chrysanthemum throne. in sweden the succession took place in 1980, three years after the birth of baby victoria. she is crowned princess, younger brother carl philip nearly a prince. now they want to change the 300-year-old law which prevents

women succeeding to the throne unless there is no male heir. >> it is true that kate and william are very popular and this may have spilled on some of the changes here. >> reporter: already here in australia, there was controversy when prime minister jewulia guillard chose to bow instead of curtsy to the sovereign. >> to have this old law is simply outdated. it's sex discrimination in the oldest form. >> reporter: of course, great britain already has a queen, but that's only because elizabeth didn't have a brother. she reportedly favors the proposed change. and it's worth noting that perhaps the most successful british monarchs have been women, queen elizabeth i, queen victoria and this queen who has been on the thrown for nearly 60 years. royal watchers say that while

gifford goes one on one with controversial pundit glenn beck, based in part on his troubled childhood. he got emotion about that and his family, coming up. weather is always a concern in outdoor weddings. look at this, an arizona bride and groom never imagined they would have to worry about their ceremony being crashed by a massive dust storm. we showed you this video on tuesday. now this morning we'll get to meet the couple coming up. >> you may kiss the bride, if you can find the bride. but we begin this half hour with emotional testimony at the trial of michael jackson's personal physician. nbc's jeff rossen is in los angeles, he's been covering the case. jeff good morning to you. >> reporter: matt, good morning to you. there was a witness who literally broke down on the stand, so much so the judge actually had to delay the trial for a little while, about 15 minutes, while she rested and got her act back together, and that was just the beginning of the courtroom drama on tuesday. in fact, more of michael jackson's personal secrets were revealed.

>> i'm feeling really, really dizzy. i'm sorry. >> reporter: that's cherilyn lee, michael jackson's nurse. >> if i could just rest for a little bit i would appreciate it very much. >> don't worry about it. >> thank you. >> reporter: after a short break she told the jury just months before his death michael came looking to her for pro pro follow, brand name dirivan. >> he looked at me and said i've had difficulty sleeping. i'd tried everything and what i need is something that's going to help me fall asleep right away, and then he went more into "the only thing that would do that is diprivan." >> i'm just trying to conserve myself throat so please understand. >> reporter: the defense strategy, paint michael as an addict, trying to get propofol from anyone he could. prosecute ares fired back on cross-examination. >> you were not willing to give

michael jackson the propofol or diprivan or iv drip, correct? >> absolutely not. >> reporter: there were other problems, behind the scenes the concert promoter was losing faith in michael's ability. randy phillips was in charge. >> there was concern michael wasn't really taking it seriously enough or focused. >> reporter: the concert promoter says he confronted michael himself. >> michael was very clear that he was ready, as he said "you build the house and i'll put on the door and paint it." >> reporter: there was more to phillips' testimony. michael's private thoughts aired out in open court, that he was fixated on beating his rival, prince, performing more shows than he did in that arena, and demanding the "guinness book of world records" be there to document it. phillips said michael was only doing the tour to pay for a new home, sick of moving his children from place to place. >> and that he just really wanted to settle down. he was tired of living like

that, and it was emotional. i cried. so. >> did he kroo cry? >> yes. >> reporter: in a tough moment for the defense, phillips testified that dr. murray called jackson healthy and never told concert promoters about the singer's sleep problems. defense report card? >> big "f" today. a whole lot of witnesses with a whole lot of nothing. >> reporter: if you're murray's lawyers do you put him on the stand now? >> if i represent him no way. risky move. he's sympathetic, looks like a nice guy his words are going to get jammed down his throat. >> reporter: sources close to the case now tell nbc news no final decision has been made yet about whether to put dr. conrad murray on the stand or not. they're going to have to figure it out soon, though, matt. the pace is really picking up and as we have been reporting the jury could have this case as early as early next week. >> jeff rossen in los angeles, jeff, thank you very much. it's 7:34, here's ann. >> matt, thanks. with the cooling off period now over, the names of the

jurors in the casey anthony case have now been released for the first time. nbc's kerry sanders followed the trial and is in pinellas county florida with the latest. >> reporter: good morning, ann. the judge was reluctant to release the 12 jurors and fiveality national names and feared they would face harassment or worse and it didn't take long for the judge to be secret. >> we the jury find the defendant not guilty. >> reporter: the 12 jurors who found casey anthony not guilty of murdering her 2-year-old daughter caylee had remained an anonymous but for one choosing to do an interview while revealing her identity. tuesday their names were part of the record the i.d.s were there on twitter. someone using casey anthonys under the fake name casey eyebrows 1 posted all 12 and the five all the nationals names and

addresses. over on facebook postings like this, "yes, now we know who the stupidest people in america are." but the judge says he fears worse could happen after seeing protest pictures like these following the jury's verdict. >> our landscape in this country has changed. people have no reservation or hesitation about walking up to an individual, pulling a gun, a knife or any other type of weapon. >> traditionally anonymous juries have been used to protect from harm from organized crime mobs. here it's an internet mob and it's so much more difficult to know whether it's malicious chatter or malicious threats. >> reporter: why does florida make jurors' names public, in part designed to keep the legal system open to outside inspection. >> i really do feel for these jurors. i think that they are innocent victims in an internet world gone wild. but i also feel very passionately about our

democratic right to keep court records open. >> reporter: news reporters went door to door tuesday hoping a casey juror might choose to explain how they reached the conclusion she was not guilty. >> go away, please. >> reporter: but none did. >> 2580? here. >> reporter: potential jurors in broward county, florida, say they don't mind jury duty but having their names as part of the public record was not something they realized was the law. >> i don't think that should be right. >> reporter: will it impact you when you're being asked questions? >> no. >> if i'm on a big trial that's out there in the news i do not want to be identified. >> reporter: in his order releasing the jurors' names, judge perry quoted juror number 12 who spoke to msnbc.com, she said that she quit her job, retired early and moved out of state, all because of the backlash. ann? >> kerry sanders, thank you so much. coming up in our next half hour, what "today's professionals," star, donny and dr. nancy think about the names.

>> with the frustration, yes. with some of it, but other parts of it, it is, i go back to what i said in january, and i stand by it. radicals, revolutionaries, communists, socialists and islamists, who are not on the same page on a lot of stuff, will gather together to end the capitalist system and the western way of life. that's what's happening. >> reporter: his opinions have made him well-known and wealthy, but have also come at a high price. i met you only one other time before and it was at the "today" show studios and you had, you're a big guy, but you had about five huge guys around you. that's just a part of life for you, isn't it? >> yes. >> and for your entire family? >> yes. >> has it been worth it, glenn? >> only he will answer that. i don't know. i wouldn't want to be my kids. i wouldn't want to be my wife.

courthouse in north carolina today, armed with five arguments why his indictment should be dismissed. it's a return to hard reality, just four days after the joyful celebration of his daughter, cate's marriage. prosecutors charge that edwards requested, accepted and received unlawful contributions, in order to hide his involvement in an extramarital affair and thereby preserve the viability of his campaign to be president. >> no other candidate has ever been charged criminally with any case that even approximates this. >> reporter: ken gross, former head of enforcement for the election commission and previously a consultant for edwards' defense argues the case goes beyond the law. >> none of that money was used for any campaign-related expense, no tv added, no radio ads, to pay campaign workers or otherwise advocate his election. >> reporter: the government says edwards broke the law by not reporting almost $1 million secretly provided by two

supporters, which was used to hide his pregnant mistress, rielle hunter, in fancy homes and on private jets. >> i don't think it's that novel. >> reporter: former federal prosecutor dan boyce says the government has laid out a strong case. >> the defense doesn't want this case to go to the jury. they're trying to get out of the case on a technicality. >> reporter: edwards insists he did not violate the law and claims the case is politically motivated. if the judge doesn't buy edwards' arguments he could be back in court for a trial in january. now the judge is not expected to rule today. by all accounts edwards faces an uphill battle to get this case thrown out, given the momentum of a federal indictment. as you know, savannah, most of the time judges would rather have a jury decide. >> lisa myers in washington, thank you. arrow smith fans are googling front man steven tyler

website in credit unions, go to mycreditunion.g mycreditunion.gov. there should be no cost for checking, there should be no cost for the debit fees, you should be able to get higher interest rates on your money and really it's a great deal so what do you need to know? find out, are there going to be costs for the checks? recently i just talked to somebody who made the switch from one bank to the other, paid $30 just for checks. what's really important you got any automated accounts, maybe you've got an automated mortgage payment or getting your check automatecally put into your bank account, you're going to need to make the switch. a lot of credit unions are helping with that switching process as are by the way other banks. >> what about the credit card? >> here's what i would recommend you do, open the credit card account first with the credit union before you consider closing that credit card. i would leave the credit card account open for a while but open a new card first. >> let's go to skype. jaclyn from virginia joining us

segment. we'll start with the laundry. this is the place things go to get clean, not dirty. >> they do. you want to sort things that you wash by use, so you don't want to wash kitchen towels with your underwear. you want to wash your underwear, bath towels separate from the kitchen towels and if anything is really soiled you want to rinse it out first because those particles will just spread throughout the washing machine. >> and you say that when you do it in cold water, which sometimes you do because you don't want things to shrink doesn't get them as clean. >> not at all. wash soiled things particularly on hot water and dry them thoroughly in the drying machine, and also, once a month you want to run a cycle in the wash with bleach so you can put all of your whites in there or do it in the rinse to make sure you get any residual germs out of there. >> cleaning the washer with that? >> yes. >> we move on to the kitchen, you prepare meats and poultry and wipe off the count we are the sponge and the sponge lives there. >> people cross-contaminate themselves because they use the

sponge to wipe off if they dropped raw egg, and then they spread it all over the counter so you want to use separate sponges to wipe the sinks and the counter than the dishes. and you also want to make sure you store the sponge somewhere where it dries out. don't leave it hanging out in the sink because moisture breeds bacteria. >> like a petrie dish. >> and also use disinfectant wipes for the counter instead of the sponge so make sure you don't mix it up and stick your sponge in the dishwasher or microwave to disinfect it. >> move on to the grocery store and germ out there. is this true? there's more e. coli on shopping carts than toilet seats? >> there's lots of little kids' bottoms in the shopping cards. >> eww. >> also from leaking meat packages and unwashed produce. so you want to make sure to wipe down the grocery cart, wipe down your hands and also, your reusable grocery bag, you're being environmentally conscious but have one separate for your meat and separate for your produce.

you don't want the meat to leak and the raw meat jouss to leak or wrap the meat in plastic before you put it into the bag. >> next might be the no brainer, the bathroom, nobody expects that to be a pristine environment. beyond washing our hands what should we do? >> beyond washing your hands for as much as it takes to sing happy birthday. >> that's what we tell my little nieces. >> spritz down the faucets every week because they're breeding bacteria, and close the toilet lid when you flush. every time you flush little particles go everywhere and they can travel far. keep your toothbrush far away from the toilet. >> you're grossing me out. in a public bathroom are you a proponent of flush with the foot? >> definitely and use a middle stall, they get used less often than the ends and the hand dryers don't work as well as the paper towels do getting the germs off of your hand. >> this a lot haven't heard of, the bottom of your purse or bag. >> they go everywhere.

do you ever think about where you're putting your bag, on the floor, in the airport, people put it on the sink in public bathment radios. >> and bring it home and put it on the kitchen counter and make dinner. >> keep the bag away from any countertop where food is being eaten or prepared and even your bed. don't put your bag on your bad and if it's the right material, maybe you try wiping the bottom off. >> last but not least my favorite, the tv remote, something that never gets cleaned probably if you don't think about it. >> everybody touches it and it never gets cleaned and it's got the little grooves that are perfect for collecting dirt and food so wash it off once a week with a disinfecting wipe or solution of one part bleach to nine parts water. >> we have a few extra seconds to get to my favorite tip, you just told me that the five-second rule is a myth. >> it's a myth. >> we drop something, less than five seconds it's fine. >> studies found that bacteria and salmonella transferred on to food in as fast as five seconds than 60. >> what about the two-second rule, no? >> no, throw it away.

october is breast cancer awareness month and one breast cancer survivor, didi ricks is hoping to shed light on a different side of the disease by telling her story in a film airing on hbo. >> certainly when you're poor, you have low access to preventative health care, and low access to treatment that others can't afford. so it's not only a medical challenge, it is a moral challenge, and our people are dying because they're poor and because they're uninsured. >> what's going through my head is how can you go to a woman and say, our health care system will take care of you when we failed her at every other level? >> you may not be able to change who is poor, but i believe and i have shown, i think, that you

can change what happens to people who are poor. >> and didi ricks is here along with dr. haar alleged freeman, ceo of the harold p. freeman board. i know you're cancer free now. who you are you doing? >> i'm feeling wonderful, thank you. >> you went through this as a single mother, eight different sessions of chemotherapy. how was it when you found out just shy of your 39th wirth day you had breast cancer? >> my thirst thought my sons are 2 and 5 and i immediately went to the place if something happened to me, they would never remember me so i started filming moments with the kids and thus the documentary evolved to this. >> and of course you were quite the high-powered wall street type back then. you had the money. you had the resources, and even for you, you discovered that dealing with insurance companies was a full time job.

>> i don't know how women today do it. i see you know, on the documentaries see my battle with the insurance companies and you know, one of the things that i learned through the process is to really get through it, you really need to understand and have someone navigating you through this system, so research is important, advocacy is important, but holding someone's hand through the entire process and getting them through diagnosis to resolution of the disease is really what i'm doing with dr. freeman today. >> that is where dr. freeman comes in, but you did, as i understand it, have something of a revelation, as you were going through this terrible bat well breast cancer, you looked around that hospital waiting room and you saw there were those who had far fewer resources and you wondered how are they managing this? tell us about that moment for you. >> the questions were coming, you know, what do you mean i can't pick up my child for 30 days after having a double mastectomy. how am i going to drive to work? and all of the things that i wasn't facing because i had

help, and people to take care of me, so it was at that moment that i vowed to help women that didn't have access, and to give them the help that they needed. >> i know that's when you got contacted with dr. freeman. put it bluntly your philosophy is having cancer and being poor can be a lethal combination. >> that is so often the case. for the 40 years i've been in harlem, i've faced many, many poor women with breast cancer in particular, and they have great barriers in getting into and through the health care system in a timely way. therefore, these women tend to come in very late and many of them will die because of that. >> and in fact, didi, one of the most powerful aspects of the documentary you met a woman, cynthia doddson, also struggling with cancer and it documents your parallel tracks. tell us about her and what happened to her. >> cynthia was amazing. she was me. she was me, and the only difference is that i was white and she was african-american, but she was full of life, and

full of energy, and she was really an inspiration to me. >> and she passed away? >> yes, we lost cynthia, which happens way too often when women come in stage four, and are uninsured. >> you have the patient navigation institute and we just heard didi talk a little bit about it, but you know, in the few seconds we have, why is it important to have a navigator? >> a navigator can eliminate the barriers that people face when they try to get through the system. barriers related to fear and distrust, communication barriers, no insurance, complexity of the system, so one on one, accompanying, guiding people through the system is what navigation is, and it has results that we've improved survival of breast cancer from 39% to 70% by screening and navigating in harlem and this program is becoming national now. >> dr. haar alleged freeman and didi ricks thank you for your time.

this morning on "today's home" a fresh take on paint. lou manfredini is host of "house smart" and shows us how one coat can make a world of difference bringing a tired room back to life. nice to see you.. >> good morning, nice to see you. >> i've been seeing a lot of commercials for paint and primer. >> correct. >> that's been around for a while. you weren't a big fan of it. >> i wasn't. it's been a number of years, many different manufacturers as we have here that have these and i'm a primer guy, but then i started to use this stuff, and i went to a lab where they made it, and they sort of made a believer out of me because the technology changed. >> what's with the golf ball?

>> older paint, the ceramic beads or polymers in there were the size of golf balls. >> literally? >> well no it's an illustration. >> i was going to say that's a lumpy paint. >> but it's an illustration. >> wow. >> like putting cottage cheese on the wall. you had to prime it and put two coats. i'm still a fan of two coats into color. they took the polymers and ceramic beads and made it small almost like a powder. that helps with the coverage and the flow. the reality of it is, this stuff works and it's low voc, some of it is no voc. people sensitive to smell when they go to paint. >> these are fun fall colors? >> pebble creek, dark pine, morning espresso. >> i thought it said dork pine. >> not dork pine. when you put this on, one of the biggest mistakes, they don't put enough paint on the roller. do not be afraid. look at the coverage. this is a dark color.

>> how dark can this cover? >> this is unprimed drywall and i put on two stripes. look at how dark that is. whenever you're doing dark colors you want two colors because you want the depth of color. >>ven with the primer paint you still want us to do two coats. >> no primer. when you patch the wall and do spackling you go over it with the paint, super sticky and wonderful coverage. >> stencilling, my sister hands stencils. >> your sister is going to love this because this was invented by a woman who stencils all the time like your sister and what she didn't like is they were small stencils you had to reposition, measure, oh that one's too for. stensive is the company, stensiv.com is the website. this is a 15-foot roll. in a bedroom if you're going corner to corner you can set it up like this, and don't have to worry about the spacing and you sparingly go with the paint

name. good to see but >> we are not worthy. we love you so much. >> according to david chang the chef and owner of momofuku you consume more sugar than seemingly possible without keelg over. >> that's correct. i'm a real life hummingbird. he has gone so far as to buy me cases of candy bars for my birthday and challenge me to eat them. >> and have you met the challenge? >> oh, yeah. i'll meet any challenge especially when it comes to sugar. >> to ten us make a descent dessert? >> you use chocolate crumbs as a building block. >> yeah, we make them in a ton of different flavors. >> how do you do it? >> super simple, we start with flour, al do you want to be the mixer? >> sure, okay. >> flour, then valrona cocoa powder, a quality dark cocoa powder, granulated sugar, salt and a little bit of corn starch helps behind it together. on the mixer on a low speed for a second, gets a little bit of

melted butter, just until the crumbs come together. >> do you melt the but thor in the microwave? >> i melt the but thor in the microwave. >> i didn't know if that was against the law. >> for me i love my microwave until it comes together, exactly as soon as it starts to look like dark chocolate clusters, it goes in the oven, 300 degrees for 15 or 20 minutes until it dries out because i like the burst of chocolate flavor but the sandy texture of it. >> just alone it's perfect on ice cream -- but you would never leave it there, no, no. >> we go further. >> we go further. we make a chocolate chocolate cookie dough, the same valrona cookie powder, deep dark chocolate. all of our chocolate crumbs, pour them in and mix them around. >> and scoop them out? >> yeah, it's our take on like a chocolate chocolate cookie but instead of chocolate chips you have the nice sandy chocolate clusters. >> or you could just eat this bowl. >> i am definitely a cookie

dough eater before you bake it. exactly. >> how long do you bake? you're as messy as i am. >> see? >> a little for me, a little for you. they get baked off at 375 degrees in the oven for about 18 minutes and they're for me i like my cookie to be like a brownie, it's fudgie in the center. >> and what do we have back here? >> in the back we take the chocolate crumbs again and stick them in one of our layered cakes, a chocolate chip layered cake. >> okay. >> we take layers of the cake, we soak the cake with a little passion future pruit puree, and to take the chocolate crumbs and distribute them, again like that nice surprise layer of chocolate and sandiness, and then a little coffee frosting goes on top. >> and do you bake this or put it in the fridge? >> i layer it, i freeze it just so it sets up like this and i don't cover it on the sides so it's frosted. a little chocolate chip on top.

>> so we can see the layers. >> exactly. you put so much time into the layers so for me that's important. >> what do we end up with here? >> this is my love story to the take five candy bar pie. take the chocolate crumbs, melted butter, we stir it around to misoisten the crumb until it moist enough for a pie crust. push it up the sides of the wall of the pie and layer it with caramel, peanut butter, pretzels and chocolate. >> i love but. >> christina, will you marry us? >> yes, i will. >> i feel ready to commit. do you? >> yes, absolutely. >> we have two seconds, tell us about the crack pie your favorite confection. >> super simple, it's toasted oat crusted in gooey butter filling, everybody loves gooey butter cake and a pie. >> hold us, clis tina. >> never leave us! >> recipes on today.com. >> coming up more
