after a flight was diverted to connecticut where it sat on the tarmac over seven hours with no food, water, bathrooms. plenty of frustrated passengers and the pilot. >> we can't seem to get any help. i apologize for this. is there a way to get a tug and tow bar out here and get us towed somewhere to a gate or something? i don't care. take us anywhere. >> children under the age of three, for eight hours on a plane isn't pleasant. >> reporter: it wasn't pleasant in places where up to 30 inches of snow fell. residents will struggle to cope the rest of the week. >> i'm getting ready for work. no shower. it's fun. >> must leave people in the storm's past and hoping it isn't a sign of things to come. well, our weather here was a whole lot better than it was saturday, saturday night. >> sure was.

what's in store for trick or treaters tonight? veronica johnson has the answer from the storm center. >> hey, guys. not a bad halloween for us. it's going to be a cold halloween. we have a few clouds that started moving in. unlike past halloweens, this time, the little kids they are going to be complaining, probably crying when you tell them you have to put the coat on, it's going to be cold. it's going to be colder than most of the last halloweens we have had around here. 56 degrees is the temperature. we have a partly sunny sky now. partly cloudy to mostly cloudy sky as we move from the afternoon to evening hours. the dew point temperature is 35 degrees. moisture off to the west. 's going to dry out. we could get sprinkles late evening. we are at 56 degrees in georgetown. 55 degrees now in college park and buoy. camp springs, 54. 54 degrees also in damascus.

she's accused of killing murray in march. they saw more graphic images from inside the yoga shop. chris gordon will have more in a live report coming up on news 4 at 5:00. firefighters performed a high angel rescue after scaffolding collapsed here just before 10:00 a.m. on montrose road. three workers were on the scaffolding at the time. they were all thethered to the scaffolding. a team was able to lower them to safety in ten minutes. no one was injured. investigators are looking into what caused the scaffolding to snap. the madoff family is back in the headlines today with a release of their book and their side of the story. ruth and andrew said they have not forgiven bernie and do not want to reconcile with them.

inappropriately when he was the head of the national restaurant association in the '90s. cain says he is the target of a witch hunt. steve handelsman has the report. >> reporter: herman cain is d y denying the accusations. >> i have never sexually harassed anyone. >> reporter: the website politico reports cain was adduced of inappropriate sexual behavior by two women in the late '90s. >> we have seen a settlement document that details the accusations. >> reporter: he was head of the restaurant association. nbc news confirms at least one woman complained of cain's conduct, received a cash settlement and left. cain claims he was exonerated by an internal investigation. >> as far as a settlement, i am unaware of any sort of settlement. i hope it wasn't for much because i didn't do anything.

part of the cold air. 56 is the temperature now. we have a dew point in temperature of 35 degrees and a south wind at 7 miles per hour. here's a look at your trick or treat forecast. a little bit of a scary one. clouds movering in. more clouds and a slight chance of a few sprinkles around the area. temperatures will drop down into the 40s, upper 40s to mid-40s late. it's definitely cover up kind of weather for the little ones being outside. all right. here is a look at the snowfall cover. 11.5 inches with this storm. west virginia, 14 inches of snow. areas in new england like peru, massachusetts, 30 inches of snowfall. this is one system that strengthened as it got over us and to the north of us. a classic nor'easter. we were lucky with this storm.

monoslaughter in the death of michael jackson. they cross examined the star witness. we have the latest from los angeles. >> do you agree there are instances where dr. murray deviated in his care of michael jackson on june 25th, 2009. >> the morning began with top examination from dr. paul white. the prosecutor pulled no punches about conrad murray's care of michael jackson. >> there's no justification of what conrad murray did in failing to call 911. >> i -- as i said earlier, i think he should have called 911 sooner. i do not think it would have made a difference in the outcome of the case. >> reporter: why dr. murray didn't tell paramedics he gave michael jackson propofol. >> is it a detail he overlooked when they asked him what took

a new album of recordings by the late amy winehouse is being released in december. it will contain 12 new songs. all are brand-new or alternative versions of existing hits. none of the songs have been previously released. winehouse's father never heard the song "halftime" on the new album and describes it as incredibly beautiful. the 27-year-old singer died in july from accident alcohol poisoning. after displaying a smile that many people question her dental habits, lindsay lohan is back with the pearly whites. >> she posted pictures online thanking the dentist for a teeth whitening procedure. >> she'll reshoot a playboy spread because of the new smile. her legal future is not so bright. she'll be back in court for

>> it hops around in your stomach. let's talk about the forecast for tonight. some folks are going to complain about how cool and cold it's going to be. this will be the lowest temperatures we have seen on any halloween going back nine years. 2002, we were at 47 degrees. last couple years we have been in the 60s and 70s. all right. take a look at digital doppler here. you can see where some of the moisture is. a few showers trying to make its way right over the mountains. you can see a few sprinkles. you'll see him later in the 5:00. high elevation presip. some of this could translate around the area. west of the area, then we clear alpine tomorrow morning. by 6:30 tomorrow morning, we are looking at a mostly clear sky arnds the area. throughout the day, nothing but sunshine throughout. as far as thursday goes, we may pick up a few high clouds. thursday, even thursday will
