didn't happen. dan hellie is at fedex field. it's getting harder and harder to be a skins fan, dan. >> yeah. they've lost four straight. have gone from three and one to three and five. this season one chock-full of high hopes, then here we go again. the skins lose to a very good 49ers team and the offense that started three rookies looked anemic as ever. coming off a shutout, john beck and the guys were trying to make something happen, anything happen in this game after that stinker up in toronto down 6-0 in the second. beck dumps it off to one of the rookies who got the start, roy, he coughs it up after patrick willis forces fumble. they had three fumble recoveries and made ten points out of those. here's the touchdown here. look at this. alex smith, the fullback. bruce miller. 30-yard score. the first of the rookie's career. the niners drop the "skinsince,

19-111. they drop to the three and five. >> on defense, we did some good things. i thought the intensity was there. i thought our players played extremely hard. but when you make those many mistakes, you have turnovers on offense, especially with pretty good field position against the team that runs the ball extremely well, plays good rush defense. you can't have that many mistakes. >> just a recommendation, if you're going to vegas, you might not want to take john beck with you, because he could be the unluckiest quarterback in nfl history. aaron, he has played in nine nfl games. his team's record in those nine games, 0 and 9. yes, he's a victim of circumstance, but surely not very good luck for john beck these days. >> yeah, rough for him. >> dan, we'll check back with you a little bit later. thanks. >> all right. decision 2012 now. republican presidential hopeful herman cain says he is no longer answering questions about sexual harassment allegations.

a spokesman for the campaign blamed the media for placing attention on the decade-old incident that involved at least three women. when reporters tried to bring up the issue last night, cain told them all their questions had already been answered. >> back on message! read all of the other accounts. read all of the other accounts where everything has been answered in a story. we're getting back on message, okay? >> cain has repeatedly denied that he ever sexual harassed anyone. he says he's looking forward to focusing on big issues facing the country. fellow gop candidate ron paul has declared the winner of an illinois straw poll. the texas congressman won with 52% of the vote, which consisted of 3,600 online and paper ballots. former massachusetts governor mitt romney came in second, with 35% of the vote. a frightening series of crimes in northern virginia. why some parents tell us they're afraid to let their kids play outside.

residents in spotsylvania county on edge again tonight

after a stranger tried to lure a little girl into a van. this is the fifth attempted abduction in the area in the past few weeks. this one happened yesterday afternoon on satterfield court and it involved an 8-year-old girl. darcy spencer live in the newsroom with more details on this. darcy? >> aaron, perhaps the most alarming part of this incident is the age of the victim. as you say, she was 8 years old. that's the youngest of all the victims in this string of attempted abductions. she tells police, one of the men involved yelled out, hey, baby, come closer to the van. an 8-year-old girl was the victim of an attempted abduction here on satterfield court in spotsylvania county between 4:15 and 4:30 on saturday afternoon. she tells police she was approached by four men in a van. one got out and gestured for her to come to him. she ran to her father and stepmoth stepmother's house. the men got away. it's the fourth attempted abduction reported in spotsylvania county since october 14th.

>> my daughter's not going o upside outside to play. >> reporter: the man was in a dull black ford econoline van. the men were dressed in gray, big poofy coats. some were wearing necklaces with crosses over top of those coats. we spoke to colonel michael timm by phone. >> it's certainly very scary, and that's why we're handling it as credible information and following up on every lead we get. >> reporter: there have now been five attempted abductions reported in spotsylvania and stafford counties in recent weeks. one of the victims was 9 years old and was chased home after getting off a school bus. authorities have beefed up patrols, including on halloween night, when kids were encouraged to walk in groups. do you think this case is connected to any of the others? >> we do not see anything that links this case to any other previous cases. >> timm says investigators

people in oklahoma feeling rattled tonight after at least a dozen earthquakes this weekend. the strongest one hit last

night. it was a magnitude 5.6. it was the largest quake ever to hit that state. today, there have been at least ten smaller aftershocks. so far, there have been no reports of serious injuries. >> stop the pipeline! >> thousands surrounded the white house today to make their feelings known about the keystone xl pipeline. it would carry tar sands oil from canada to the gulf of mexico. the protesters are concerned that the toxic oil would contaminate underground fresh water splice in the heartland of america. opponents say it will create mu much-needed jobs in a struggling economy. now to the crisis in greece. it appears an initial deal has been formed to reach an interim government. prime minister george papandreou will not lead the new government, but exactly who will play what role in the new government will be front and center as talks consider tomorrow. the interim government is expected to be in place for about three to four months to ensure a new european debt

bailout is put in place. it wasn't exactly time travel, but some runners in montgomery county had negative times in an overnight race. more than 500 people took part in anytime fitness's anything is possible 5k in bethesda. it started at 1:50 a.m. and because of the end of daylight saving time, runners crossed the finish line just after 1:00. before they started, if you're looking at a clock, anyway. part of the proceeds from the race goes to families of soldiers wound ordinary killed in combat. people placed up for lung cancer in washington today. the longevity foundation held its third annual breathe deep d.c. 5k walk on the national mall. the goal of the walk is to raise awareness and money for lung cancer research. our own doug cameron emceed the event. lung cancer is the nation's cancer killer. i want to check in with chuck bell out. pretty nice out there. >> had a little cloud deck this

morning that had me concerned, but those clouds managed to sneak on out around 1:00, 2:00 this afternoon and had everyone bathed in early morning sunshine until 5:04 this evening. that's a tough time to make. outside right now at ronald reagan, washington national airport, under a still mostly clear sky, temperatures are starting to cool back down again. we made it up to 59 degrees for a high temperature today. that was about a five-degree improvement over yesterday. winds are still light out of the southeast, at only 5 miles an hour. and area temperatures, at least in the metro area, back down into the upper 40s in a few spots already. warrenton and manassas in the mid-40s. 46 in camp belvoir. 48 in college park. still milder in annapolis at 52. bay water temperature, 55 degrees. that's the reason they're holding on to a little bit milder air. back out to the west. 50 degrees in hagerstown. nothing showing up on radar under our clear sky.

look how far out we have to widen the radar, just to get any raindrops to show up. way down there across parts of oklahoma, texas, and also across lower michigan. so no rain in our forecast for several days to come. a dry and mild start to the work and school week. chilly for this evening. clear skies and evening temperatures dropping back down into the upper 30s in the western suburbs to low and mid-40s around town by 11:00 tonight. there you see that little cloud deck disappear with the warming southerly breezes that came back into the area today. we had a few high thin cirrus clouds during the overnight hours. generally speaking, high pressure is going to promise us a little hint of some indian summerlike weather out here. cold again tonight. first thing this morning and again first thing tomorrow morning, a lot of heavy frost. especially across parts of northern maryland, out towards the blue ridge. but tomorrow afternoon, plenty of sunshine, temperatures back into the upper low 60s. another chilly start coming up on tuesday morning. but then another beautiful day coming up tuesday afternoon. and i think the mild weather sticks around through at least wednesday. for this evening, though, clear

skies. cooling off very quickly. temperatures mid-40s or colder by 11:00 p.m. clear skies, patchy fog, and possibly some heavy frost first thing tomorrow morning. wake-up temperatures near the freezing mark out towards the blue ridge, northern and western suburbs to around 40 in town and along the bay. tomorrow afternoon, plenty of sunshine, light winds, and mild weather returns. everybody's going to like this seven-day forecast. at least the first three or four days of it. 63 tomorrow. near 70 on tuesday and wednesday, but the clouds come back into the picture on wednesday, and a shower chance lingers into our thursday before cooler, a little bit more november-like weather returns as we head into next weekend. but the early lean for next weekend so far looking pretty nice. at least it will be dry, aaron. >> very nice. we like that. thank you, chuck. >> okay! hundreds of performers are walking a fine line in brussels today. 500 performers gathered there for a tightrope convention. the main event, if you will, 30 tightrope walkers on one cable,

so, hakem, we were hoping that this game was going to turn out differently. they really needed it to turn out differently. >> yeah, it didn't turn out differently, unfortunately. that's what we can say here in washington. and coach mike shanahan said the team is sticking with quarterback john beck, but let's be honest. it doesn't really matter. 11 points in two games is bad news bears awful. meanwhile, the 49ers are feeling quite the rush winning their sixth in a row. and the redskins' defense, making an impact early. first quarter, no score. looking to pass as alex smith avoids the pressure, but he doesn't avoid this. crushed by rocky mcin tosh and kerrigan. san francisco has to punt. it's a textbook tackle. end of the quarter, still no

score. on 2nd and 11, beck fakes the handoff. it's picked off. niners would cash in with a field goal and take a 3-0 lead. end of the first half now. washington trails 6-0. beck dumps it off to rookie roy haloo making his first start. and, oh, no, fumbles the football. 49ers recover. very next play, and wouldn't you know, alex smith to his fullback. this is kind of a surprise. rookie bruce miller, 30-yard touchdown, the first of miller's career. and just like that, san francisco takes a 13-0 lead. and they're thinking about a treat. three seconds to go in the half. graham goodell on for a 49-yard field goal. a 49-yard field goal, up and good! the longest field goal in franchise history and the redskins get on the scoreboard. under two minutes to go in the game. it's 19-3, san francisco, but the redskins had it on first and

they will soon be turning to rex grossman. >> no question, and i don't want it to continue. i want to put my foot down and, you know, have this stop. we are -- we have too many players on this team. we have a good character. we have guys who believe. you know, losing like this shouldn't happen. and i don't want it to happen any longer. unfortunately, today, we didn't win. i felt like when i stepped on the field today, we were going to win. i felt like this team believed we were going to win. having come off the field not having won, that's not the situation you want. but i'm doing everything i can to end this and get us winning again. >> tough to watch out there from a layman's perspective. how hard is it as a player? >> just as hard as it is to watch. you can't win like that. every week, defense do their thing and we didn't follow up and put any points on the board early enough. and can't win like that. >> we lost four in a row at the

start of three and one. we just got to keep fighting, man. regardless of who we play, we've got to take care of our, you know, our mentality. get back to that winning way that we started the season. just that swagger that we're missing right now. and things will fall into place eventually. >> the redskins not only lost a little swagger, they've lost any form of explosiveness on offense. hakem, as you know, big plays, often place of 20 yards or more, the redskins didn't have a single play today of more than 17 yards. and that play was a batted ball that went to roy, so they were lucky even to get that. it's just disappointing to watch the redskins' offense right now. you have to give credit where credit is due. obviously, the san francisco 49ers defense is one of the best in the league. when you have opportunities, you've got to cash in. you saw that at fedex field today. >> it was like fool's gold. the injuries came.
