hours to deliberate before they reached their decision. when the verdict was read, cheers erupted outside the courthouse. stephanie stanton has the latest from los angeles. >> reporter: after a day and a half of deliberations, the jury of seven men and five women came to a unanimous decision in the manslaughter case of dr. conrad murray. >> we the jury find the defendant, conrad robert murray guilty. >> reporter: he showed little emotion as the verdict was read. >> juror 5? >> reporter: seated in the courtroom were members of the jackson family who got the verdict they hoped for. >> justice was served. >> reporter: they considered more than 300 pieces of evidence and heard from 49 witnesses including murray's girlfriends, investigators, medical experts

or each side. >> our sympathies go out to the jackson family for the loss they have suffered. that's most important to keep in mind. >> reporter: a judge revoked bail and sent him directly to jail until sentencing. there it is, dr. conrad murray is in the custody of the l.a. county sheriff's department. sentencing is set for november 29th. in downtown los angeles, stephanie stanton, nbc news. >> because of the overcrowding in l.a. jails, he may not serve any time in prison. it's possible the judge could sentence him to house arrest. herman cain is a republican candidate who made it clear he wants to get back on message and move past allegations of sexual harassment. it's not likely to happen anytime soon. a fourth woman accused him of inappropriate behavior. unlike the first three, she came forward.

steve handelsman on capitol hill with more. steve? >> reporter: good evening. herman cain's accuser was cool, calm and articulate. if the story is true, it's devastating. it's the first time a woman publicly came forward to accuse herman cain. >> he was very sexually inappropriate with me. >> reporter: she says in july, 1997, after she was fired from a restaurant association job in chicago, she came to washington to get advice from national ceo herman cain. after dinner, cain physically assaulted her. he suddenly reached over and he put his hand on my leg, under my skirt. i was very, very surprised and very shocked. i said what are you doing? you know i have a boyfriend. this isn't what i came here for. mr. cain said you want a job, right? >> reporter: she says cain stopped. she did not file charges.

nbc news cannot confirm the allegations. attorney gloria allread showed statements from two men who she told cain was sexually inappropriate. three other women accused him of it this month. she said she decided to do it publicly. i want you, mr. cain to come clean. just admit what you did. >> reporter: cain issued a statement denying false allegation allegations. today's poll shows 54% are not concerned. 15% a little concerned. cain rivals are trying to take advantage. >> it's up to herman cain to get the information out and out in total. >> reporter: she says she's telling her story to put a name

and face on the charges. unlike her liberal lawyer, she's a conservative activist. recently at a tea party event, she saw herman cain, she went up to him. he remembered who she was but didn't apologize. jim, back to you. >> steve handelsman, thank you. a judge in charlottesville, virginia ruled attorneys for the university of virginia lacrosse player accused of killing his ex-girlfriend will be able to review medical records. his lawyers argued a mix of alcohol and prescription medication actually killed her. the judge ruled there will be no cameras in the courtroom during the trial and jurors will have to fill out questionnaires. the trial is scheduled to start in february. there is trouble tonight, serious trouble on the campus of

the frostburg state university in maryland. the second murder there this year. this 23-year-old is a student there. she's being held in connection with the murder of another student. the victim was 19-year-old kortneigh mccoy. she was stabbed to death saturday night. we have more on this. >> we have learned more about the circumstances surrounding a fight that investigators believe led to the stabbing. the suspects parents were in court while the victim's family is planning the future. >> the family, sisters, it's sad. it's such a young age. >> reporter: this is her uncle. four years apart, he considers himself a brother to her. they are trying to process the loss while planning her funeral.

perrywood elementary tool in upper marlboro. it's where the older brother played in a pee-wee league. the autistic boy from virginia who spent nearly a week alone, lost in the woods is home with his family tonight. his name is robert wood jr. he's 8 years old. he was released from the hospital over the weekend. doctors are treating him for minor injuries he suffered during the ordeal. he wandered off while hiking with his family in the park in hanover park. 3,000 volunteers went on a search for him. the boy doesn't talk, which made it harder for him. he was discovered close to the park. attorneys for a mobile home park are asking prince william county about their idea to condemn several homes there. attorneys filed a freedom of

two officials are being charged in connection with a sex abuse case that involves a former football coach. the coach was arrested on saturday. they are charging him with abusing eight boys over a 15-year span. brian moore has the report. >> reporter: two top penn state university administrators surrendered to authorities for failing to report child sex allegations against a coach of the football team. the athletic director and business director are accused of lying to a grand jury about disturbing allegations focusing on defensive coordinator jerry sandusky. >> they allowed a child predator

washington. authorities say they have not yet learned the identities of two of the eight victims. they say those two identities are not necessary to move forward with the case. the former boyfriend of amanda knox is speaking out for the first time since the murder appeal ended in acquittal. he dated knox for ten days before her roommate was murdered. they were convicted and spent four years in prison. in an interview with italian tv, he described his time in prison as hell and a cruel injustice. he said it was a seed planted and stamped on. he retained great affection with knox and will always wish her happiness. doug is here with a look at the weather. what a spectacular day today. >> it was nice, wasn't it? >> yes. it got dark too soon. >> way too soon.

negotiations are under way to name the next greek prime minister. a coalition will be formed to push a bail out through parliament. we have the developments from athens. >> reporter: for the time being, prime minister george papandreou is still there. no one knows who the leader will be. there are names out there being suggested. >> we have a new government and unity and possibility. this is the proof of our commitment. >> reporter: after days of discussion and uncertainty, world markets reacting, the

prime minister will step down, he says. elections will be held in the next couple months. most importantly, this new government, all though temporary will approve the bail out of greece before they default on the massive debt. that was the fear as well as greece potentially leaving the euro zone. this move is good news. it brings hope here especially since european leaders said they are not going pour more money to greece until there's commitment to move the country forward with stability. that said, here comes italy now in much the same predickment. there's talk of the prime minister there stepping down or being forced out. that is a much bigger economy, much harder to fix, much harder to bail out. now, world markets are looking away from greece now that it looks like there's at least a plan here and looking at italy with quite a bit of worry.

back to you. >> michelle reporting from athens. on wall street, stocks made gains on final hours of trading. investors responded to the debt situation in europe. they gained 85 points to push it above 12,000. nasdaq up nine points and s&p 500 closed seven points higher. the hilton hotel chain joined the list of companies hoping to redevelop the old post office pavilion downtown. they want to turn it into a 245 room luxury hotel. it would feature four restaurants and high end retail shops. the old post office is on pennsylvania avenue between the white house and the capital. half a dozen companies submitted proposals to develop the property including donald trump's hotel outfit.

the jury today pronounced conrad murray guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of michael jackson in 2009. murray was sent to jail without bond after the verdict was read. he'll be sentenced later this month. he's facing up to four years in prison and the loss of his medical license. a fourth woman accusing herman cain of inappropriate behavior. she says cain groped her in 1997 when she met with him. nbc news had not confirmed the

allegations. all harassment accusations are, in their words, completely false. a student at frostburg state university has been accused of killing another student. both are women. the victim was a 19-year-old stabbed to death in a fight during a party over the weekend. a 23-year-old is being held in connection with that crime. there was another attempted abduction in spotsylvania, virginia. four cases reported since mid-october. >> this latest one happened saturday afternoon in the 6700 block of satterfield court in fredericksburg. we have the report on how police are responding. >> reporter: it happened saturday, 4:30 in the afternoon, a little girl says men in a van tried to get her to go with them. she got scared, ran off. they drove away. the incidents have people here

it's a sierra white fir, 65 feet up in the air. they are cutting it down in fresno, california. the tree then will make the cross country trip to d.c. with several stops along the way. they will place it in front of the u.s. capital building. it won't be long now. tobacco companies will not be required to put graphic pictures on their packages yet. they wanted to force them to put the images on the packaging. they wanted graphic warning labels with images such as diseased lungs or dead smokers on the boxes. the tobacco companies are suing the government saying it violates their freedom of speech. the judge blocked it until it's solved. it could take several years.

70 degrees and plenty of sunshine. it lasts through the day on wednesday. then we see the changes as the big storm system moves in. 40% to 50% chance of rain on thursday. much cooler during the day on friday. friday is veterans day. the weekend is looking good and dry. >> sounds good. >> thanks, doug. people at an elementary school near los angeles are wondserring what is going on out there. they noticed they had more sets of twins than other schools in the area. as time went on, they got more twins. now, there are 14 sets of twins at that school. four sets arrived in just the past year. all but a few of the kids are identical twins. sometimes they play tricks on the teachers. for the most part, having so many twins around makes for an
