vehicle, the car that hit the officer was not part of the presidential motorcade. we can tell you this happened about 6:30 tonight in the 4500 block of connecticut avenue northwest. d.c. police officers were stationed at side streets along the route in order to close connecticut avenue as the president's motorcade travelled to a fundraiser in northwest washington. the officer from the special operations division was struck by the car and knocked to the ground. we're told he has injuries to his legs, arms and head and was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatenening injuries. >> it was a mess. the cop cars on every corner and traffic going through the neighborhood at slow pace. >> but the street itself was closed? >> closed. completely. >> the car that struck the

officer remained on the scene. no word in the driver of the car received a ticket or if charges will be filed. >> thanks, jackie. a person was hit on i-395 north of seminary road. it's not clear why he was in the highway. shomari stone joins us live with more on the accident that caused a traffic mess tonight. >> reporter: that's right. there are a lot of unanswered questions. traffic was bad here on 395. you can see all the lanes are open. but they were closed for some time. traffic is now cleared up. investigators were gathering evidence on the scene. the police told me a man died after running in front of a minivan north of seminary road at 7:00 tonight. the driver who hit him stayed at the scene. the police did not charge the driver. police closed the two left lanes. tonight there are a lot of

unanswered questions. we don't know why the man was crossing i 395. police are tight lipped but have not released the man's identity or age. but crews transported the body to the medical examiner's office. they will determine the cause of death and determine this man's identification. live in alexandria i'm shomari stone, back to you. a guy in a ski mask robbed a woman near the kennedy town metro station tonight. he took her cell phone and purse. the woman was treated by paramedics at the scene number specifics on her injuries. the guy got away before the cops showed up. a man is in the hospital after being shot by offices in howard county. police received a call about a man in an office park with several weapons. when officers told him to drop

the weapons he did not and they opened fire. no word on the man's condition or what he was planning to do in the office park. michael jackson's siblings are called the verdict in california a victory. after nine hours of deliberations a jury found dr. conrad murray guilty of involuntary manslaughter in jackson's death. murray admitted to administering propofol to help jackson sleep. the jackson family wept as the verdict was read. when they left the courthouse their relief was apparent. >> wonderful. justice was served. michael is watching over us. >> murray was ordered held without bond. he will be sentenced later this month and faces up to four years in prison and the loss of his medical license. tomorrow we may hear from joe paterno about the sex abuse scandal. he is scheduled to make his

first public appearance since the arrest of jerry sandusky. he has been charged with sexually abusing at least eight boys between 1949 and 2009. they arrested him on saturday. his lawyer says he's innocent. former penn state and washington redskins linebacker lavar arrington talked about how shocked he was about this today. >> to know that someone who i felt was an advocate for that is someone who used it as a platform to do the things that are being put out there that he may have done, it's just very disheartening and disappointing. >> paterno is not a target in the investigation. but two university officials, including the athletic director have been charged in this case. the prosecutors say they knew about at least one sexual assault but tried to cover it

up. the case of a d.c. nightclub owner could change the way the police use a gps. the case centers on a washington nightclub owner convicted of dealing cocaine. police used evidence from the gps device attached to his suv without his knowledge. the d.c. circuit court of appeals reversed the conviction saying that the gps was a warrantless search. lawyers for a lacrosse player at the university of virginia charged with killing his ex-girlfriend will be able to look at her medical records. the judge in charlottesville made the decision today. prosecutors say george huguely killed the woman during an argument in 2010. his lawyers argued that she died from mixing alcohol and

medicine. her medical records were sealed by a judge last year. the trial is scheduled to begin in february. controversy about a mailer used to get voters to the polls in virginia. it targets the state senate candidate patrick forest. he is openly gay. the flier refers to his sexual orientation and says he would be a greater threat to the conservative agenda than any democrat. his opponent is janet howell and he says she has been making an issue of his sexual orientation for month. she says they did not send the flier. >> did your camp have anything to do in with that flier? >> absolutely not. we deplore it. absolutely deplore it. >> the republicans are trying to take control of the virginia senate. democrats hold a four-seat majority. the polls open at 6:00 a.m. and

closed a 7:00 p.m. tomorrow. a fourth quarter woman has now accused herman cain of sexual harassment. she is a former employee of the national restaurant association and she says in july of 12997 cain made sexual advances toward her after a dinner in d.c. she was no longer working for the restaurant association and did not file a complaint. >> he suddenly reached over and put his hand on my leg under my skirt. i was very, very surprised and very shocked. i said what are you doing? you know i have a boyfriend. this isn't what i came here for. mr. cain said you want a job, right? i asked him to stop and he did. >> the cain campaign denied this latest allegation. cain denied ever sexualry

harassing anyone. a professor at george washington university is out of a job. students say she gave them all an a even though she never taught the class. three students complained that she didn't teach two out of three smasters last year. the examiner reports that she resigned last month. the university says is it investigating the allegations. the occupy movement at the jericho city of praise in prince george's county has ended. for the past week members have congregated in the church in support of their pastor. they say he was wrongly removed from the management of the church. a judge ruled that the church board was in charge. after praying they walked around the building in silence as a sign of solidarity to the pastor. tonight we are seeing video

a trip to hawaii could end with a prison sentence for a special agent. he is accused of killing a man in mcdonald's wild doing presecurity for an international conference. aaron gilchrist is live where the man lives. >> reporter: he lives here in arlington. he was sent to hawaii to frequent dignitaries headed there for an economic summit. but he posted bail this morning after being charged with murder. he is a personal agent with the law enforcement division. we went to his apartment but no one was home. just after 2:00 on saturday morning police say he shot a man at this mcdonald's. a shot that awoke people at a nearby hotel. >> i stirred and then i heard bam, bam, bam, shortly after that. >> it was so quick. i didn't have time to react.

it was like oh, my gosh. >> reporter: the 23-year-old victim was shot in the chest. the family of the victim says that the agent followed him to the mcdonald's after an altercation at a nightclub. >> there was a guy covered in blood holding the guy's chest. >> they come from the clubs all drunk. people look at each other, stink eye they call it here and sometimes it escalated to fist fights. >> reporter: he is part of a security team that is working on the economic summit that starts on tuesday. he was off duty at the time of the alleged shooting and spent the weekend in jail. the state department says that he is on administrative leave while the state department investigates this shooting. at the same time we asked the

court in honolulu if he would be able to return to d.c. we know he has a court appearance scheduled for november 17th. back to you. >> thank you, aaron. the author of a new book says many of the well publicized details about the raid that killed osama bin laden are fairy tales. chuck farrer is a navy veteran. he tells the daily caller that many details like the helicopter crash are wrong. he says the crash didn't happen until after bin laden was dead and he says the team that killed him landed on the roof of the compound there. that contradicts the story of the chopper landing on the ground and the seals fighting into the compound. millions of bank of america

patrons will receive a settlement. the lawsuit claimed that the bank processed debit card transactions from highest to lowest amounts. customers will see about $27. similar lawsuits have been filed against 30 other banks. a church in fairfax county is so upset with its backyard neighbor that the issue could end up in court. faith everybody gel call presbyterian church blames its neighbor for thousands of stray golf balls on the property. one alleged to hit a church employee in the head. a special grand jury found enough evidence for the church to pursue public nuisance charges. the golf range could end up with a $25,000 fine. special heroes who help

the week. the high temperature reached 67 degrees. the average high is 61. just a beauty out there with plenty of sunshine, bright blue skies. a fantastic day except the sunset today was at 5:02 and in just a couple of days will the be setting at 5:00 or earlier from november 11th until january 6th. so we continue to see less and less daylight and the more darkness the colder the temperatures get. 48 degrees out there right now. wind it is out of the south at 3 miles per hour. not a bad evening. but 36 in manassas. and 37 in culpepper. and down to 34 in manassas and 39 in kbagathers burg. not unlikely to see colder temperatures than last night.

nothing to show you on the radar in our area. but moving out to the west, a big storm. this is a monster storm through the heartland right now. in portions of kansas, oklahoma and colorado. winter storm warnings yet again. but in oklahoma, there was a report of a tornado. one tornado touched down and we've got it for you. look at this shot by a storm chaser as they made their way through the countryside in oklahoma. this is a monster. but the good news is, in oklahoma in this area not a lot of houses here but it's that was definitely a well-formed tornado. you can see that right there chasing those tornados in oklahoma. it doesn't happen too often this time of year. for our weather more sunshine. high pressure is going to stick around not only for the day today but watch what happens on wednesday. not much of a change.

joe frazier, the former heavyweight champion of the world has died. joe frazier had been battling liver cancer. he was in a hospice at the time. he was 67 years old. >> sad. hi, dan. >> hi, dan. you're talking about the shanahans and telling his son you don't want to come to d.c. or something like that? >> this is going to be more work than he thought it would be. we had been talking about the shanahans forever. so much criticism is coming down on them.

and the redskins have been rebuilding for two decades. mike shanahan admitted that the skins are rebuilding. the youth movement has been expedited because of the injuries and criticism has rained down especially on the offense. >> it has obviously been tough when you are not productive. we understand that. i told kyle not to come. i said this is going to be a work in progress. you want an established team. you have your ducks in order. i said we will have to rebuild this football team starting on offense. he understood that and enjoyed the challenge. that's what we're doing. >> the ironic thing that he said that they're rebuilding the football team after he was grilled by the media saying are you rebuilding what do you
