. different quarterback, same result. another miserable performance from the redskins. and tonight, new reports that there could be troubles that could extend off the field. good evening, everyone. i'm aaron gilchrist. coming off another devastating loss on the field, two redskins could be facing fines for recreational drug use. hakem dermish here with more on this story we're just getting into the newsroom. >> yeah, aaron, this story developing this morning and now picking up some traction that we've been able to speak with the players after the game. according to several reports, fred davis and trent williams are among 11 nfl players facing fines for testing positive for recreational drug use during the lockout. when asked about the report after today's game, davis says he was aware but hasn't heard from the league yet. meanwhile, trent williams said he didn't know anything about the report. and coach mike shanahan declined

18-yard touchdown. the dolphins beat the redskins, 20-9, winning their second in a row. washington has now lost five in a row, falling to three and six. >> yeah, i felt good. i felt like i had plenty of preparation this week to go out and play. i felt good coming into the game. and we had our opportunities to do something, to win this game, and it didn't happen. all i know is that it's frustrating, being 3 and 6. we're a better team than that. and hopefully we can go out and prove it. >> and it doesn't get any easier. next week the red-hot cowboys come to two, they are 5-4, they won two straight today over the buffalo bills, 44-7. problems on the field and off the field as well. dan hellie is in miami. >> this is going to be the turnaround. we thought it was the cowboys. it's going to happen next week. >> you can keep hoping. >> thanks, hakem. we're following breaking news right now out of laurel.

one person is dead and two other injured after a major crash there. this happened in the middle of the afternoon. it shut down that road. four cars were involved. no word on the identities of the person who was killed. we're told the injured victims are expected to be okay. now to a deadly hit-and-run. at least one driver slammed into a woman and left her to die in the history. this happened on route 3 in bowie. as news 4's derrick ward reports, police still trying to figure out who that victim is and who hit her. >> reporter: it's a stretch of road just south of route 450 in bowie. according to the maryland state police, just after 12:30 a.m., they got a report from a motorist that a woman was walking in the roadway. then more calls reporting that a woman had been hit by a car that didn't stop. when troopers arrived on the scene, they found a female who appeared to be in her late 20s lying in the right lane. she said she'd been hit by at least one vehicle. >> there's no sidewalk or even a shoulder. it's where the turning lane

starts here. not a good place to be walking at all. >> reporter: he says when he got to work this morning, there was a piece of debris from a vehicle in the driveway. >> found part of a grille sitting over there in the middle of a driveway, which is not too uncommon, because we have a lot of accidents out front here. >> reporter: but investigators took serious interest. they'd gotten earlier reports from other witnesses that a light-colored vehicle with damage to its windshield and hood had been stopped briefly near the scene of the hit-and-run. at the college park barracks troopers were looking over this vehicle that matched that description and they also had a piece of grille work. there's no confirmation that they are related to the accident. maryland state political are asking anyone who may have seen the crash or witnessed suspicious activity near the scene to contact them at 1-800-492-tips or contact them here at the college park barracks. in college park, derrick ward, news 4. a metro bus passenger recovering tonight after being shot. he was on the u-6 bus around 6:30 this morning when he was shot twice. this happened at 37th street and

ridge road in southeast washington. he is expected to be okay. metro police examining surveillance video from that bus now looking for clues. and now to the sex abuse scandal at penn state. a coach who reported seeing a boy being molested in a shower did not meet a moral obligation. that's according to pennsylvania's governor on "meet the press" today. governor tom corbitt said that mike mcqueary followed the law when he reported an incident to former head coach joe paterno, but he says mcqueary could have done more to intervene. former penn state coach jerry sandusky is accused of assaulting eight boys over a span of 15 years. >> if there are more victims, we encourage them, the state police, the attorney general's office, and i, encourage them to come forward. let us know. and we're going to work to do everything we possibly can. >> governor corbitt says lawmakers in the state are looking to toughen the laws when it comes to reporting child sex

abuse cases. lawmakers in maryland also talking about changes in the wake of the penn state scandal. maryland already has a mandatory reporting requirement for cases involving child sex abuse, but breaking that law would result in just a fine. some lawmakers are considering bills that would add criminal penalties, especially for people who work with kids. and now to decision 2012, where the front-runner in the gop field has shifted. a new nbc poll shows mitt romney once again on top. but some republicans still appear to be unsold. meanwhile, herman cain is holding on and rick perry continuing to stumble. brian mooar has the latest now from capitol hill. >> reporter: at this weekend's gop presidential debate on cbs, rick perry made light of his unforgettable memory lapse. >> if you eliminate the department of energy -- >> glad you remembered it. >> i've had some time to think about it, sir. >> me too.

>> reporter: so have voters. after a week of wild developments, nbc news re-surveyed some participants in this latest poll and found perry is free-falling, while newt gingrich is suddenly on the rise. herman cain's sexual harassment allegations haven't hurt, but certainly have not helped. and mitt romney has seen a five-point bump, but not a breakout. >> what you're seeing pretty consistently is that romney is having a lot of trouble getting much beyond a quarter of the republican vote. you still feel there's an opening for another republican candidate. >> reporter: and that leaves a ray of hope for michele bachmann, who's polling at 4%. >> the voters have not made up their minds. this is wide open. >> reporter: which may be true, but isn't good news for any of the republican candidates. one person who can't get enough of these republican debates, president obama. he says they're helping his campaign. on capitol hill, brian mooar, news 4. >> and the next big event for

from person of interest to wanted man. u.s. park police now have an arrest warrant for the man they believe was involved in reported gunfire near the white house. take a look at these pictures. investigators are looking for 21-year-old oscar ramiro ortega. police say they found an abandoned vehicle near the roosevelt bridge friday night. items in the car helped them identify ortega as a suspect. a local restauranteur is facing federal charges. "the washington post" reports that agents seized 140 pounds of cocaine and $1.5 million in cash when a truck tried to deliver to

her office in ft. washington. dasher is charged with possession with the intent to distribute. cameras in cafeterias and hallways at high schools in fairfax county. the school board considers that proposal tomorrow. school principals say the cameras would enhance safety and create an objective witness to incidents at schools. most of the county's parent/teacher groups support the cameras. it would be up to school principals to pay for them and could cost about $900,000 county wide. a pizza party with a purpose. an event today that really made a difference in d.c. and chuck's back with a look at yo

there was a pizza party in northwest washington today, designed to help some folks in need. it was the first annual pizza in the park, sponsored by the kaseer foundation. the pizza was handed out to 300 homeless people who might otherwise not have something to eat. >> really exciting to be able to really touch and connect with the homeless and thegry in d.c. we really wanted to thank the kasir foundation and david kasir. he really went above and beyond. pizza friday was always our favorite in school, so we thought pizza in the park would be a great holiday treat. >> in addition to the pizza, there were backpacks stuffed with hats, gloves, and other winter essentials. down

another historically bad performance. mike shanahan has lost five straight for the first time in his coaching career. and the redskins as a franchise have lost five straight for the first time in a decade. >> a very promising start to our season. and we liked our football coming into the season. you know, it just shows you how quickly things can change in this league, to have lost five consecutive games. i know we're a much better football team than that, and that's the extremely frustrating part of it. >> obviously, we're not concerned with the playoffs and with this and that and winning division. we're just concerned with just getting a "w" right now. that's our number one objective. >> still saying things each and every weekend. that's what's really frustrating. we work on it and think we have it controlled and figured out, and we come back out and still have the same problems. >> the only thing i can control is how i prepare and get ready to play. and i can't speak for other guys. because i do play quarterback.
