what a heartbreaker. the redskins show up. they actually score touchdowns, they still fail, or rather, fall to the cowboys in overtime. fail to, i guess. i'm aaron gilchrist. we'll get to the skins sto s st just a moment. but first, a murder suspect mistakenly released because of clerical order. darcy spencer is live wi the late ossen this. darcy? >> reporter: aaron, i was able to look up this suspect's information through online court documents. it shows right here that this suspect was released on november 10th on a $75,000 bond. then go down here, november 18th, just last friday, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. an investigation is underway to see how, in fact, this clerical error could have happened. but right now police are focusing on getting him back in custody. prince george's county police are on the hunt for this man, 24-year-old frederick lawrence

scott of maryland. he was being held on a first-degree murder charge at the prince george's county detention center in connection with a homicide last march. he was mistakenly released ten days ago on november 10th after posting a $75,000 bond. scott was supposed to be held without bond. authorities are describing the mistake as a clerical error on court records, indicating that his bond had been set at $75,000. >> we're, you know, using you guys as far as the media and the public goes, to put his picture out there, hoping maybe he sees us and has a conscious to realize that there was an error and bring himself back in. and also, maybe if the public can help us locate him. >> reporter: scott is accused in the death of phillip watson in southeast washington. the early morning shooting happened outside the surf club live on kennelworth avenue in edmonton. scott was arrested two months after the shooting in las vegas and was held without bond until his mistaken release nearly two weeks ago. a bench warrant has been issued

for his arrest. >> it's certainly a concern to the department, that we had an individual locked up for committing a murder and he's back out on the street. so we're trying to work with the court system to find out where the error may have occurred. >> reporter: i just received a statement from the state's attorney office here in prince george's county. i'll have to read this right here. it says, "our office is actively investigating the circumstances of this matter and is fully engaged with our law enforcement partners." as you heard in the piece, prince george's county police are hoping that this defendant will find out that law enforcement is looking for him and turn himself in. in the meantime, police are actively looking for him and hoping if anybody knows where he is, will give them a call. reporting live from palmer park, darcy spencer, news 4. aaron, back to you. >> all right, darcy. thank you. well, it wasn't the outcome we wanted, but the skins did actually put up a fight this afternoon. and even though they're now on a historic losing streak, we saw

announce a plan by tomorrow and have it approved by wednesday. failure would trigger across-the-board cuts to the pentagon and various domestic programs, starting in 2013. with so much riding on the super committee's work, several dozen people held a vigil at lafayette park this afternoon. their message to the super committee, the poor shouldn't be burdened with reducing the national debt. demonstrators are calling on the congressmen to preserve funding for programs that help at-risk families and children in the u.s. similar demonstrations were held across the country today. the movement was spearheaded by a coalition of religious organizations. another staff shake up for d.c. mayor vincent gray. tomorrow he's expected to name a new press secretary and deputy chief of staff. it is the latest effort to settle down his troubled administration, which has been rocked with staff controversies, almost since he took office last january. there is an ongoing federal criminal investigation into grey's 2010 campaign, and allegations of cash payments and offers of government jobs at the

a damsel in distress turns out to be a carjacker in disguise. this happened at tyson's galleria yesterday afternoon. her victim was not hurt, but police want your help solving this crime. news 4's derrick ward has more on the woman and the car police are looking for. >> reporter: police say it started in the parking lot at tyson's galleria on saturday afternoon. the shopper identified only as a 59-year-old woman was approached in the parking lot of neiman marcus by another woman who said she needed help, that her car had run out of gas. the shopper bought the hard-luck story and offered the woman a ride to a gas station. >> the victim felt comfortable with the person who ended up being a suspect and didn't see anything unusual about her, did not appear to be distraught or under the influence of any type of substance. >> reporter: but when they approached the intersection of old courthouse road and route 123, the woman who'd asked for a ride pull out a knife and demanded the good samaritan gave up her car. she complied and got out near

investigators say a tossed cigarette started that fire. a debate on whether to let girls be altar server at the catholic church came to a head in arlington today. people stood in protest o upsut the diocese office this afternoon. they're offended by a rule to let boys only serve. the arlington diocese first allowed girls in 2006, but left the final decision up to individual churches. the pastor at corpus christi said he made the boys' only decision in opens of grooming more of them for the priesthood. >> if the bishop would show leadership, that would help, in urging each parish to have altar girls. >> about half the churches in the diocese of arlington allow girls to serve at the altar. some people have decided to the leave their church and go to another one if their girls are not allowed to serve. thanksgiving came a little early for our troops in baghdad this year. soldiers at camp victory sat down for a holiday lunch today,

gold, winning the series. we're at fedex field, cowboys and redskins meeting for the 104 time. we pick it up after the third quarter. tony romo back to pass with time throws to des bryant. and he's in for the futouchdown. see it again. cowboys take a quick 7-0 lead. second quarter, redskins down 10-0, but they have it on third and goal and rex grossman makes a play. keeps himself, dives in for a touchdown. the redskins' first touchdown in the first half since week four. grossman pumped. 20 seconds to go in the half. on third and sixth, rex makes another play. perfect pass to his former florida teammate, ja var gaffney. he had 116 yards receiving. washington's first lead in a game. up 14-10 at halftime. nice handshake. i like that. fourth quarter, cowboys trail 17-10 on third and goal. romo scrambles.

ouch. so dallas drives down the field and dan bailey has a chance to kick the game winner. and dan bailey kicks the game winner. from 39 yards out, it's up and good, barely. after all that, the cowboys beat the redskins, 27-24 in overtime. the cowboys have won three in a row. for more on today's game, we go live to fedex field to join dan hellie. hey, dan. >> gano said after the game when asked what happened with that kick, he said, i just missed it. didn't feel any pressure or nerves, just didn't hit it as well as i normally do. the redskins office actually played well from the first quarter on. they were nearly invisible in the first quarter. the second highest point total of the season. and they got in the end zone three times. when was the last time we said that about the redskins? there definitely was a different feel in this locker room after this game, especially from the

offense. >> you play for those moments, you know? and it's really disappointing. we didn't get a victory, but you know, i enjoyed myself. you know, being in that redskins/cowboys rivalry game, fighting with my teammates, the support from the fans, it's extremely disappointing and we've gone on a losing streak. playing endless rivalry, it is the best in uniform. so i'm extremely, extremely disappointed we didn't get the victory. >> we're absolutely going to continue to fight. we want to fight and win, you know? it's one thing to fight, but another thing to fight and win. and i feel like, eventually, because of the character, it's going to happen for us and we're going to make more plays, we're going to make, you know, more plays to win these games.
