the victims, men over the age of 60. the method, the same. as the men try to get into their car, a man approaches from behind with a knife, forces them into the passengers seat and drives their car to an atm. forces them to withdrawal money from the atm then drives the car to a place close by a metro station and then the suspect continues his get away on foot. police fingerprinting the victim's cars trying to identify the suspect. this happened last wednesday and again on saturday and yet again yesterday. what's going on with this guy. >> this is speculating, but we believe he's desperate and that he has found a place where he's comfortable. we are doing what we can to make him uncomfortable there now. >> nicks diner is up the street. this is what they are saying about the crime scene.

>> it's unheard of. it scares you. >> i think it's a damn shame it happened three times in a row and they can't catch him. don't they have security there at all. >> doesn't give you a great deal of confidence, does it. >> reporter: we take the safety of our shoppers seriously. we are cooperating with the montgomery county police department and the security level reflects are heightened awareness. now again, if you recognize the man in that security video, montgomery county police, they want to hear from you. wendy rksz back to you. >> pat collins, thank you, pat. a woman wanted in the area for carjacking and bank robbery appears to be on the move tonight. her name is stephanie. police up in baltimore county says she's suspected of stabbing a woman who gave her a ride on thanksgiving day. this victim discovered defensive

wounds on her hand but is expected to recover. she's a suspect in a similar carjacking at tyson's galleria last week. baltimore county police say they recovered the aca stolen in that incident. she's a suspect in two bank romryes in the area. well, it's the talk of the town today. a big coaching shake up for the washington capitals. head coach, bruce boudreaux was fired, replaced by caps reg end dale hunter. hakeem joins us with more. >> general manager says the players were no longer responding to bruce boudreaux, so they had to make a change. washington didn't have to look far hiring dale hunter. he was a successful junior coach in canada. now he has to turn around a team of professionals underachieving. he turned the caps into winners his first season and named coach

of the year. boudreaux won 100 games faster than any coach in history. unfortunately, he never made it past the second roun. after a 7-0 start this season, the caps struggled going 5-9-1. in comes dale hunter. he played from 1987 to 1999. he led the team to the only stanley cup finals. he was one of the best junior coaches. his winning percentage is best in ontario hockey league history. >> bruce emptied the tank. he gave it everything and pushed every button he could push. it worked for awhile. it's not working now. now, we'll bring in another good coach and let him push the buttons he wants to push and coach the way he wants to coach. we'll see if we can get them playing the way they want to play.

that charity is telling donors to give their money to an antirape coalition instead. give to the pennsylvania coalition against rape. the second mile foundation was founded by sandusky. he's now charged with sexual abuse of eight boys during a 15-year period. the charity says the december programs will continue as scheduled. the secret service heading the investigation into sexual child abuse allegations involving a syracuse university basketball coach. bernie fine was fired after a third accuser came forward to claim he molested him in 2002. espn released a recording between fine's wife and another accuser suggesting she knew of the abuse. today, her nephew say that is recording had been tampered with. those recent high profile scandals prompted several states to consider tightening laws on

reporting child sex abuse. it would add reporting requirements for youth sports and college coaches. julie carey reports. >> reporter: these are two of the first bills filed for the upcoming session. house bills three and four and both deal with reporting child sex abuse. they are needed to make sure what happened at penn state with former coach jerry sandusky doesn't happen on virginia campuses. >> we need to tell the public clearly, what's a moral obligation is a legal obligation replacing persons of authority in terms of sports with kids. >> reporter: right now, virginia law requires you to report instances of child abuse or neglect. it includes doctors and nurses and teachers. this adds coaches and athletic directors and private schools to the list. he wants coaches of private

sports teams to be mandated as well. >> if you are an athletic director or coach in an institution of higher learning you are covered. >> reporter: a george mason university says they have that to report sex abuse they observe or learn about. they welcome legislation to underscore that. >> we would support it if it becomes law. we have an internal system in place, we call it a sexual assault response team made up of offices throughout the campus community that leaps into action if there's a report of sexual assault. >> reporter: administrators are in discussion about thousand reemphasize their policy to faculty, staff and coaches. >> when we come back, the maryland man at the center of the disappearance of the woman

i'm meteorologist, doug kammerer. we are watching the radar now. nothing across our area on the radar. watch what happens when we pan out here. you can see what's happening to the south and east. a ton of moisture. some areas picking up five and six inches of rain. also know around the memphis, tennessee area. they are starting to see snow there. for us, it's an all rain event. expect it to start in 12 hours or so. some of us will see a good amount of rain tomorrow. the bigger changes come in. we'll keep you updated through the day tomorrow. >> all right. doug, thank you. d.c. police continue to investigate a violent fight that left one man dead and five others wounded. it happened sunday morning outside the heritage restaurant on connecticut avenue near dupont circle. darcy spencer joins us live with the latest. >> reporter: a source close to the investigation or with

knowledge of the investigation said it stemmed from an incident involving a bartender. someone went up to the bartender, said something, made a gesture, another person stepped in on her behalf and that's where the fight started. it spilled into the street. three people shot and three stabbed. police were able to recover surveillance video from at least one camera out here. they are using it to try to figure out who is responsible for the crimes. now, this violence erupted around 2:30 saturday morning. three people shot, three stabbed. we are told a promoter held an event inside the establishment but it was open to the public. the man who died has been identified as a man who lived in suitland, maryland. they want to do something about the restaurant that is morph into clubs after hours. he may force them to have a

police presence. >> what that means is the restaurant/nightclub establishment has to pay off duty police officers in order to patrol the streets outside the establishment. >> we want to encourage this type of va vasty in the area, but at the same time, we can have situations like this one that occurred at heritage where the people who were getting drunk in the bars are creating a lot of problems. >> reporter: mayor vince gray issued a statement that says i am confident the metropolitan police will investigate and perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. the establishment has been shut down for 96 hours while the investigation continues. also the alcoholic beverage control mission is also looking into this. they are going to hold a hearing. they want to find out what

company bought 11 acres for $11 million, it was hoped disney would build a 500 room hotel to attract more tourists here. late last week, they announced they were pulling out of the project. the developer acknowledged the disney decision is a disappointment. as they focus on the financial future, there are other opportunities. prince george es county is hopeful that metro and gsa will work together to bring federal offices and jobs to land located around the metro rail stations. >> 49% of the space in terms of warehouse but only 4% of the office space. it's important to bring those employees working in these offices back home. >> reporter: national harbor will be the sight of a tangar outlet mall creating hundreds of construction jobs. in 2013, the national children's

online surveys predicting a record breaking year for cyber monday. sales are expected to top $1.2 billion. it's not just a banner day for consumers. internet scammers are trying to jump in. elaine reyes joins us. >> they are going mobile with online shopping. 71% of tablet owners and 50% of smartphone users will use their device to shop. they advise caution for people selling fake and phony products. >> it's a busy shopping day. >> for amazon.com, it's the busiest shopping day of the year. last year, they sold 158 items each second. it's close to 14 million items in all. >> people avoid the crowds of shopping malls, traffic and sit back at home or work and get their shopping done.

>> counterfeit coach, counterfeit louie vaton. >> collectively, the department shut down 150 websites selling counterfeit goods. they sold everything from fake sports jerseys and shoes to knock off coach handbags. investigators say the sites like nfl supplyjersey.com and pumaoutlets.com drew 77 million customers. >> this is outright theft. this is straight crime. it's not a question of someone going and knowingly buying a knock-off. this is people being duked into buying a counterfeit. >> reporter: experts advise consumers to avoid site that is use terms like replica and cheap. look for misspellings and
