tonight the countdown is underway for gary giordano in jail in aruba for three months. he could be back in maryland this time tomorrow night. news4 learned that giordano's lawyer wants him off the island as soon as possible and may charter a jet to get him home. there is no sign of gardner, the woman giordano travelled to aruba with and on whom he took out an insurance poll i have. jackie bensen has reaction from giordano's neighborhood. >> reporter: some of gary giordano's neighbors are not thrilled to learn he is coming home. court record ises show that a

judge has denied a stay away order filed by two of giordano's neighbors. they claim he threw garnl and a dead animal on their lawn. news spread that a tmj aruba determined there is not sufficient evidence to keep him in jail in connection with the death of robyn gardner. the two travelled to the island on july 31st. giordano reported gardner missing saying she drowned while the two were snorkeling. her body has not been found. he has been in prison more than three months. this is his aruban lawyer. >> i asked him how he felt he started to cry. >> reporter: the prosecutors are fighting a release. but the aruba's appeals court will not hear the case until wednesday, 18 hours after the release. but they say that does not mean an end to the case. >> no no. our countries do have a treaty

in place for extradition. we'll go on with the investigation and determined to bring the truth about. >> reporter: giordano's home was raided by the fbi one week after he was arrested in aruba. is it not clear if he faces charges in the u.s. jackie bensen, news4. the hunt for a woman wanted in a series of crimes in virginia has moved to maryland now. stephanie schwab has struck in baltimore county. she is wanted for a carjacking on thanksgiving day. investigators say she cut the woman behind the wheel when she called for help and then ran away. the police recovered the car, an acura. schwab is suspected of stealing a car at tyson's galleria two weeks ago. there is video showing a man who is targeting shoppers in montgomery county. he is forcing them to withdraw

money from atms and runs into metro stations. darcy spencer has more. >> reporter: if you look at this video. it's on youtube. you can see the person that police are searching for here. the video is about four seconds long and police are calling him a desperate man they are desperate to get him locked up. increased security after abduction of three older men since wednesday. this video was taken at the target store where the latest victim was abducted. >> it's just not right. you know, you should not be doing that. older folks? i mean, come on. it's immoral. >> reporter: two men, one 75 years old and the other 60 years old were kidnapped in the parking lot of the giant store. the third victim was taken from

outside the target. he was beaten and cut with a box cutter. all the crimes happened around 2:00 in the afternoon. >> it's scary to think that the elderly are threatened in this area. hope they would be a safer population. >> reporter: in each case the victims were forced to ride in the passenger seat as the driver forced them to go to an atm to withdraw cash. >> the suspect is desperate and found a place he is comfortable. we are trying to make him uncomfortable there now. >> reporter: the crimes have shoppers and residents on edge. >> what do you think? >> sad. the person should get in trouble for it. >> reporter: if you recognize the man in this surveillance video you are asked to call montgomery county police. darcy spencer, news4. back to you. outside right now the temperatures in the 60s. but our incredible stretch of

weather is about to come to an end, right, doug? >> that's for sure. you will notice the changes in the morning. a huge storm out there right now from the great lakes all the way down to florida. and look at all this moisture coming out of the tropics up to our region. that's why our temperatures were in the 70s for the second day in the row. but on the backside of this, cold air cold enough for snow south of st. louis and around memphis, tennessee. they are expecting two to four inches of snow in western tennessee. we saw the flakes here a month ago. what kind of impact will the storm have on our area when you get up in the morning? i'll be back with details in a minute. dr. conrad murray will find out tomorrow how long he will spend behind bars. he will be sentenced in a courtroom in los angeles tomorrow. last month he was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in

the death of michael jackson back in 2009. murray could get up to four years in prison but he could be sentenced to county jail because of prison overcrowding in that state. jackson's family is expected to be in court tomorrow but it's not clear if they will speak. herman cain came out swinging denying allegations of marital infidelity. an atlanta businesswoman claims she had a 13-year relationship with the candidate who is married. cain appeared on cnn to say the allegations are baseless. he says he knows the woman but did not have sex with her. the secret service is getting involved in the child sex abuse investigation at a former basketball coach at syracuse university. the university fired fine after

a third person came forward with claims of abuse. earlier tonight there were reports that his wife would have a statement about the release of audio tapes that suggest she knew about the abuse. mrs. fine says she has nothing to say. the syracuse case and the scandal at penn state is prompting several states to reconsider their laws on child abuse reporting. there are two bills to make it a requirement to report a crime. >> we need to tell the public in no uncertain terms very clearly what is a moral obligation is a legal obligation we are placing on persons in positions of authority in terms of sports with kids. >> virginia law requires people in some professions to report crimes against kids. coaches would be added to the list. a murder in the dupont circle area could mean changes

in security procedures for restaurants all over the city. it was a fight in the heritage india restaurant over the weekend that spilled on to street and ended with one killed and five injuries. jack evans said he may introduce legislation that would require restaurants that also operate as nightclubs to hire off duty officers to patrol outside. the police shut down that restaurant temporarily. investigators are taking a look at surveillance cameras as they make the effort to find out who was involved. u.s. park police are increasing their presence at two sites where the occupy d.c. protesters are camping out. they are concerned about illegal drug and alcohol use and assaults. they handed out fliers to the protesters who deny the charges and believe the fliers are a threat of eviction or arrest. park police, however, say they have no plans of throwing anyone

out. strong sales on black friday were expected to bleed into cybermonday today. retailers offered deep discounts for one day only for online purchases. many customers took advantage of the deals from their desks at work. americans are expected to spend $1.2 billion online today alone. you still have time. most of those deals don't expire until midnight. the winners of this month's gigantic power ball jackpot came forward today. they will split the $254 million prize. all three are money managers in greenwich, one of the wealthiest communities in america. they developed a trust for the money and their attorney says a portion of the winnings will be going to charity. coming up tonight talking about zebras reasoning wild. a chaotic situation that led to

million-dollar question that diane murphy keeps asking herself. she glanced out the window and saw not one but two zebras running down the street. she grabbed a camera. >> as i went outside they were right in front of the house. >> reporter: she lives in a nice neighborhood near route 15. neighbors were shocked to see the animal strolling up and down the concrete jungle. >> i was worried for the zebras. things come to your mind about how they got here. >> reporter: they escaped from the leesburg park animal petting zoo nearby. the sheriff's deputies tried to protect the zebras from cars. >> there was no disturbance. the kids weren't home. there wasn't a lot of traffic in the neighborhood. they took care of it. >> reporter: this is the second time the animals escaped. today's escape is rather ironic for diane.

she couldn't go on an african safari with her friend. the safari came to her. >> i don't have to go to africa. i have zebras in my yard. >> reporter: we tried to call the officials here. we called the number on the door and they were unavailable for comment and didn't return our phone calls. once we receive the information from them we will post it on our website, www.nbcwashington.com. in leesburg, virginia i'm shomari stone. back to you. a huge fine for the owners of ringling brothers and bar numb and bailey circus they agreed to settle an animal welfare case for $207,000. it's the largest fine assessed under the animal welfare act. the usda says that the animals were police treated. the circus decided to settle in order to avoid costly and protracted litigation. a federal judge will allow a

lawsuit that claims a ten commandments display at a virginia high school is unconstitutional. the display is in narrows high school near roanoke. a student is suing saying the display violates the first amendment. the judge says there are too many unknown facts about the case to have the case thrown out. there is so much bitter opposition to the lawsuit the plaintiffs' identities are kept secret. the capital christmas tree arrived today. it is from california. it's a sierra white. will the go up on the west lawn of the capital and be decorated with 10,000 l.e.d. lights and thousands of ornaments. the tree lighting is next tuesday. tonight it was welcome to gingertown. it asked engineers to build a city out of gingerbread. sweets give the finishing touches to the creations.

the structures will be donated to local hospitals and charities. looks delicious. >> they had good weather for putting up christmas trees and building gingerbread cities today. >> i'm doing the christmas tree lighting at the white house. last year it was nice and cold. this year it's almost too warm for something like that. but a cold front is coming that will put us all in the mood. that is good news. so we have seen nine days in a row with temperatures above 60 degrees or so. we will start to cool down tomorrow. take a look out there right now. a beautiful night. it is gorgeous out there right now. the current temperatures 62 degrees at 11:00 at night in november. not sure if that's a record but it could be. the high temperature was 71 degrees. a few degrees shy of the record. the average high is 53 degrees. we were 20 degrees above average and as i mentioned nine days at

60 degree or better and two days in a row of 70 or better to end the month of november. 26 right now. winds out it have south-southeast at 6 miles per hour. it's that southerly component of the wind that is driving up the temperatures. even the areas that are normally in the 30s this time of year are at 60. 61 in frederick. 16 in baltimore. the cold spot on november 28th at 11:00 at night is 58 at annapolis. all of this warm air ahead of a storm system. you can see where that storm is. it is very close to us now. the rain making its way into southern portions of virginia. all that warm moist air coming out of the tropics and atlantic ocean. you can see it rotating around this big storm. the moisture feed out of the gulf of mexico. on the backside is where the cold air is. we are looking at two to four

inches of snow. winter storm warnings to the south of memphis. that's the first time for them in a while. winter weather advisories in alabama including birmingham and the mountains of north carolinaer. as for our weather we are too warm for snow as we have that southerly flow moving into the area. tomorrow we will see a good bout of rain at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 and picking up between 10:00 and 1:00. that front will sweep on through. that will help to dry us out. a few showers tomorrow afternoon and evening. but the big deal here is the winds will shift and temperatures will start to fall by tomorrow night. there will be snow back to the mountains and the higher elevation os it have blue ridge. that's about it. just the chilly air for wednesday. wednesday will be about 10 to 15 degrees cooler. even 20 degrees cooler than today. still cool on thursday but with sunshine, kind of what we expect

this time of year with temperatures in the low 50s. tomorrow morning, cloudy and mild with rain developing. 53 to 58 degrees. you'll walk outside and may not need the jacket but you will when you come home. the temperatures will rise to 58 to 63. but they will be going down in the afternoon and some of that rain will be heavy at times. there is the next four days with 52 on wednesday and thursday. friday sunshine with a high of 55. saturday is the cold day. right now the temperatures on saturday will be in the 40s as another front comes through. that will be a dry front. >> it seems unnatural for it to be this warm. >> doesn't it though? >> let's not complain. still to come what happens when an nfl player has to use the bathroom and can't make it to the locker room? what happens is embarrassment. also more on the
