porsche but it's what he did next that may have led officers to shoot him dead. a developing story that spans two crime scenes right now. the first, a gas station in tacoma park, the second scene, an intersection in adelfhi. darcy spencer joins us with more. >> reporter: the victim remains in critical condition tonight. he's undergoing surgery at a local hospital. the suspect was shot dead by police after they say he attacked an officer. it started here at the sunoco gas station on new hampshire avenue at 3:45 in the afternoon. a 19-year-old man tries to carjack a man with a porsche. and when the victim fought back, the suspect stabbed him with a steak knife.

>> police say the victim had been inside the gas station store when he came out, the suspect was in his porsche. >> he confronted the suspect, the fight began, the suspect grabbed something from the victim's hands. he then stabbed the victim multiple times. >> the suspect jumped in his red ford focus, rammed the porsche then took off, leading police on a chase. the tacoma park police chief says officers had lost sight of the suspect and then the car flipped and crashed here two miles from the gas station. police say the suspect jumped out and ran, a female officer tasered him, but it had no effect. the teenaged suspect attacked the officer. >> the suspect gained control and was on top of the officer, assaulting the officer, when a second officer pulled up, demanded the suspect stop and defend the life of the officer that was in danger, he then utilized deadly force. shooting multiple times.

>> the focus struck three occupied cars before crashing. those drivers were not hurt. back at the sunoco station, the stabbing victim suffered critical injuries. police say they'll be checking to see if the 19-year-old had been using drugs. >> what he's been through and what he did, just shows us he must have been on something. >> reporter: the police chief says that he will be reviewing this case obviously, but it does appear his officers followed proper policies and procedures. they are allowed to pursue suspects who are accused of committing felonies, the officer who fired his weapon, feared for the life and safety of his fellow officer, at this point, police have not yet identified the suspect in this case. reporting live from adelphi, darcy spencer, news 4. aaron back to you. >> thank you. three people, including two women were shot in southeast washington tonight. this happened about 7:00 on mississippi avenue near atlantic

a former goodwill employee is being held for a string of armed robberies at stores across baltimore county. he was taken into custody today, accused of holding up two goodwill stores on three occasions over the last month. all the robberies happened while customers were inside. it's believed he targeted those stores because he was familiar with the operations and knew where they kept the money.
