11:30 pm
cross the line. with sean lee that, is rebound position right there and good strong hands. and eli got it done in the clutch one more time in hopes of saving the giants' season. >> al: waiting for word up stairs. and he is going to review it. he said come on over and take a look at this thing. so that was a second down and goal. if he rules it no touchdown, it's third down. >> cris: see if his knee or elbow is down before this ball crosses the line. i would argue that it is across there. i don't see where it doesn't cross it. >> cris: really right there. knee down there. i guess that's going to be the question. it looked like it was over the front edge of that line. remember, any part of the ball touches any part of the white line on the goal line i have a
11:31 pm
touchdown. right there. interesting. when that knee is down right there, i can see where they could place it. so clearly it's over there. he has possession. now the knee comes down. remember, you can cross the goal line before that. so it is over there? i think the knee is down at that point and the ball is not across. but after the catch, was the ball across that front edge of the white line? >> al: right. ballard had a touchdown and coughlin thought it was going to be taken away. but coughlin thought the challenge should have been one on last week. early in the game against green bay. >> referee: after reviewing the play, the ruling on the play is confirmed, touchdown. >> cris: it's easy to get confused there.
11:32 pm
when the knee was dourngs the ball was not across. but the ball crossed the line before the knee got down. that's the correct ruling. >> al: i think so. so the giants now, an 8 o-yard drive. here we go to a five-point game again at 34-29. 3:14 to go. the giants with two-timeouts and the two-minute warning. >> cris: here we go. he has to get down there. one, two, there. as he turns, the ball did cross over the line. steve spurrier had to get down. at that point right there is where i think that ball crosses the end line. and that is significant. it mate well be the difference between having to try an onside kick, possibly kicking away and
11:33 pm
using your time-outs. but remember, each team has already blown one time-out this after. >> al: so to show you before how close eli was to tying a record, unitas in a 12-game season, 14 fourth quarter touchdown passes in '59. that streak was still going on. drew brees is closing in on with 40 straight games. >> cris: you always judge records by who's on the list. that's a pretty good list. >> al: of course. >> cris: i think the giants will kick it deep. cowboys will protect the point area. and so will the touchback here. >> al: romo in the fourth quarter, he's no slouch.
11:34 pm
tony, four-game winning drive. eli with five. fourth highest pass rating. highest fourth quarter passer rating. he was researching that when he was rehabbing. somehow he said it on the radio. he said that s. that sflu. >> dave said i get the middle of this thing. people are talking about jason garrett an being more aggressive. >> al: do you think that happens with jerry? >> al: just given. jones, big night for felix. a night will be had to produce for maury. >> cris: you have to be careful
11:35 pm
with felix jones. he rolled over the pop early. the bat coming back behind it. even though as a defensive player here, you're wild eyed and want to attack a football. but the cut back is really a much better r bigger threat than the power running off tackle. >> you're going to milk that then. this is a big stop for the giants here. they would like to take their time-out defensively. jones. we're at the 24 yard line. and we'll take that time-out here. >> cris: that's the way to play it by jason pierre-paul. he did not buy into the fact that the cutback wasn't coming and sat home and made the play. here it comes. play starts away. felix jones cuts back. and jason pierre paul is waiting for us. great defense. he has had a monster night. boy, you don't put on the sap of the new york giants defensively
11:36 pm
and come away oh, my goodness, who is this guy? he didn't even like football. he used to watch and say god, those guys are crazy out there. i'd never play that game. and they brought him out. he didn't know the rules. he didn't know anything about the game. finally the coach game him the very simple instructions. he said go get the quarterback. he said okay, i can do that. and now he's a millionaire because of it. probably earning trips to hawaii in the future, too. big stop for the giants here. we're approaching the 02-minute warning. and austin has beaten the coverage. fourth down. the giants get the ball back. they only have one time-out and they have a lon of time left.
11:37 pm
>> cris: romo xmoezed edxposed him on the blitz. absolutely wide open. no way in the world can tony romo miss that throw. it is unbelievable. >> michelle: here is mcbride. not a good pick from one of the better hunters in the league. and the giants are going to get the ball at their own 40 yard line. that's a 35-yard bloop. >> cris: wow. >> michelle: this crowd of 95,000 is close to being stone quiet right now. >> al: all romo had to do is complete the pass. he was that wide open. >> cris: he said we have to clear the passes. the giants are in a world of
11:38 pm
hurt at that point. >> cris: it doesn't ruin your reputation. that's what we talked about. >> al: the blitz. the pass is caught. ballard. to the 38 yard line. touchdown to the two-minute warning. giants need a touchdown. when it comes to the perfect holiday, only verizon has amazing gifts that'll last the whole year through. like the new htc rezound-- powered by verizon 4g lte... the first smartphone with beats audio technology built in so you can hear music in hi-def sound.

11:41 pm
first down. an errant snap. it's all the giants can do to come up with it. on the play before that the flag thrown, snap was also low. manning was able to scoop it up. giants is indicating that the flag should be against dallas. >> referee: offsides, defense number 94. five-yard penalty. still first down. >> cris: could be a season saving penalty, second one for demarcus ware in this big moment. and kevin boothe just shot this one over the moon. there at the top. ball snapped. i mean not even close. >> al: so first down and five after that. good protection. 24 yard line by victor cruz. you can tell that cowboys are
11:42 pm
hesitant now because of some of the injuries on the outside. alan ball forced to cover one-on-one. and the pass is not caught. manningham, looked like he was going to make the catch in the end zone. and couldn't come up with it. second down. >> cris: eli manning could not make a better throw. incredible. pressure. pressure. and manningham can't make a relatively simple catch. >> al: wow. they're going to look back and say are you kidding? second down and ten. >> al: again, a very slow snap. and manning gets hit.
11:43 pm
a flag is thrown. intended for nicks. ware that time on the blitz. here's green again. >> referee: holding, defense, number 25, five-yard penalty, automatic first down. >> al: frank walker the cornerback. >> cris: he tried to get inside here. they had him double coveraged. and that leads to holding. i tell you, there is eli with his left hand. he has made a few good throws with that left hand before. >> al: blocked in. manning throws. caught at the 1 yard line goes ballard. now for the dallas cowboys, you
11:44 pm
almost have to call the time-out now. soip >> al: absolutely. you have to leave yourself some opportunity on the backside of this. first and goal. the giants are going to let that clock wind down. >> referee: time-out, dallas. soip >> al: and they do take it. a couple extra seconds. they're forced into it. there is ballard. finally chasing down at the 1 yard line. >> cris: plenty of time. because of all the injuries back there, number 40 ends in up the key coverage position. for rob ryan's defense, this is a train wreck. eli manning is doing the impossible again. >> al: they had several train
11:45 pm
wrecks this year, at the jets. different train wreck last week. first and goal with 60 seconds. >> cris: interesting scenario here. if you score the touchdown, you go for two and try to make it a seven-point lead. but you probably don't really care if they stop you on this first one. >> al: jacobs is going to get taken down at the 1 yard line. dallas has one time-out left. and they will take it here. so they're out of time-outs. >> referee: time-out, dallas. final time-out. 30-second time-out. >> al: again, the nfc east, very simple. giants go into a tie for first place. they will meet again in week 17 at the meadowlands. here's a look. >> cris: and now do you have the
11:46 pm
guts to call a pass? rob ryan is going to send everybody. they are going to assume the house here and force you to put the ball up on the goal line. >> al: he has it. right side he goes and he's in for the touchdown. so it's a touchdown for the giants. they take the lead with 46 seconds remaining. and the cowboys will not have a time-out. >> cris: that is really a blowup block. that is the difference on this play. gets underneath the shoulder pads of -- he gives jacobs just enough. and now the two point conversion. it is a big one. >> al: this will make ut a three-point lead.
11:47 pm
if they get a field goal, in all probability it will go in overtime. they're trying to make it three. he gives it to d.j. ware and he is able to make his way into the end zone and he makes it a three-point lead. >> cris: this is good quarterback performance in the clutch with the season on the line as i have seen in a long, long time. manningham drops what should have been the go ahead touchdown. he doesn't phase eli manning. i don't think anything phases eli manning. comes right back and does it again. he has been a one-man team this year. remarkable. >> al: eight lead changes in the game. each of these teams with some dramatic, thrilling victories
11:48 pm
and some excruciating losses. >> cris: pretty good job with that kickout block. and d.j. ware who started the game, finishes the game. >> al: and so now the cowboys with 46 seconds against the giant defense that has given up 391 yards tonight. >> cris: now tony romo has to come back after mising that throw on the previous series. he needs to do what eli just did. >> al: that's going to be a kneel down in the end zone. so romo from the 20. bailey is a good kicker. his range would be probably -- i'm thinking 53 or 54 yards. there he is warming up for what he hopes will be an opportunity
11:49 pm
to tie the game. romo looking for 45 or auto yards 50 yards to give bailey a shot at it. the pass is caught. austin, up to the 40 yard line. ball come out. they rule it down. they want to get to the line. they don't have a time-out. >> cris: because the ball is picked up, they blow those things dead. huge benefit. so it starts again and tony can spike it here. so you have 29 seconds. you have a second down. and i think as much as anything tony wanted to make sure that thing didn't get reviewed.
11:50 pm
here one-on-one. they have two deep safeties. let's see what happens to this ball. yeah, i think the knee is down. good, no call. >> al: austin just wanted to get rid of it and have the ball spotted. the ball is at the 42 yard line. second down. >> cris: they're coming with the blitz. they're coming. >> al: dump it off to the outside. jones has it. he tries to get out of bounds and he does. boy, that last spin move. he's out of bounds at the 48 yard line. >> cris: i want you to find me another defensive end that can make an open field tackle the way jason pierre-paul did on that one. he's going to drop back in coverage. open field. probably ten yards on either side of him. and he brings him down.
11:51 pm
that is a capital. >> al: and almost kept him inbounds. third down. third and four. romo. it's caught by austin. he gets to the 30 yard line. tone ji going to spike it here. and right now they're in position to kick about a 47 yard field goal. romo will spike it with six seconds so bailey has hit a pair of 49 yarders. man oh, man. >> cris: this is almost a repeat of last week and here we go. so tony romo answers. what a game. >> al: this will be a 47-yard
11:52 pm
field goal attempt for the rookie bailey. and the giants have their last time-out and they use it. >> referee: prior to the snap, time-out, new york. new york will use their final time-out. we watched the cowboys on tape last week, too. there is the clock. watch coughlin. there you go. there you go. well before the snap. >> al: and just like last week, the kick goes through. now what? we've seen the numbers. i've seen the kicker. statistically does not work. if it works here, bailey is
11:53 pm
going to have a lot to think about. >> al: from 47. unbelievable! unbelievable! i think pierre-paul got a hand on it. that is amazing. they're saying hold everything. hold everything. trying to get the teams off the field. so green is saying the game is not over. here comes pierre-paul. he does get just a little bit of it and the reason the game is not over is one second left. so there has to be one more play. and the giants will end it with
11:54 pm
a kneel down. it is an unbelievable turn of events. >> cris: jason pierre-paul, if you're not in the pro bowl this year, there should be an investigation. absolutely amazing. i have to say again, eli manning this season has been phenomenal. peyton manning is a great player. nobody can do better than what eli manning has done in the clutch this season. >> al: and the giants are alive and well again. despite a four game losing streak, despite almost falling below .500, despite putting themselves in a bad position, they're now in control of whether they get in the playoffs and will not have to play another game outside of their stadium this year. >> cris: and the giants undefeated in this stadium. giants get washington at home. then the jets in their own
11:55 pm
stadium and then dallas. the wendy's postgame report coming up after a wild one in texas.

them hoped for. the giants on the eighth lead change of the game, most of any nfl game in the last two seasons come back and win it. and look at that. from 1960 through 2010, 51 seasons, only twice have the cowboys squandered a lead of more than 12 points in the fourth quarter. this year it has happened to them three times. let's go down to the field and michelle tafoya. >> bob, thank you. jason pierre-paul, what happened on the blocked field goal? >> basically, we had a giant rock. i told them i'm not going to go home. all day long you've been blocking me, blocking me. i said i'm going to rush the center. i went to the left and i put my hands up and came up with the block. >> it's amazing. let's turn to eli manning. what you are thinking as you're standing on the sideline watching that field goal attempt and then he comes up with the block?
11:59 pm
>> it's big. and just excited. you know, he can do everything. he's a play maker. get him on the field, you know, good things happen. so a big block right there. i thought we sealed it. tony did a great job driving them down there. but, you know, he helped us when we needed it. >> five minutes left and your season virtually on the line, eli, another fourth quarter come back. what happened? >> you know, we got stepped up and hit some big plays. hakeem nicks on a couple. and there they end, our defense got us stopped. we got the ball back with enough time. we got a couple penalties on the defense that helped us out. but guys, you know, ballard, everybody contributed and making that win. >> whether you get the ball back on your own 40 there, on that final job, what is going through your mind? >> we need a touchdown. i knew we had time.
12:00 am
we would call a couple shots trying to get the big play. but just check the doundz and don't force anything new. if it is there, take it. we had plenty of time. but, you know, we got down to the 1. it worked out well where we ran it and didn't get it in. we made the cowboys use their time-outs and then finally it was punched in. >> i have to ask you about mario manningham's drop. what were you thinking after that? >> i didn't see the ball come out. i thought he caught it. i thought i heard the crowd cheering a little bit. but luckily we got stepped up and we droech down there and got the touchdown. >> eli, both teams said coming in this was a must-win. how you would put in per inspect whaf this means for the giants? >> this is huge. not a fourth quarter come back and, you know, lafrt week we had something similar. and we couldn't hold on to it. this week we held on it to. we got the win. so going to get that winning feeling again, especially in the division.
12:01 am
first dallas and now we know we have a tough road ahead of us. as we come down to finding ways to win games. >> congratulations. >> thank you. >> they finally get a win. >> happy plane ride home. after this, they're at home. redskins, jets. technically a jet home game. and then the cowboys. now if the cowboys can beat the buccaneers and eagles, they can seal that division by winning the last game in new jersey. the packers, of course, at the top. they clinch the by today. they can wrap up home field next week. the saints plinched a play-off birth. the giants are in the fourth overall spot. the cowboys for the moment are on the outside looking in and the wild card race. but could still come back and win the division as we bring in tony dungy. another devastating loss for the cowboys.
12:02 am
can they bounce back from this? >> well they k. bob. i don't think they will. this is two in a row where they should have won the game. they had a chance to really drive the nail in the coffin of the giants tonight. and i think they'll look back at having the ball and tony romo's hands, having to throw to miles austin. if he makes this throw, they're going to make them win the division. and given eli manning a chance for that game winning drive, i don't think they'll go into new york and beat the giants on the last decision. >> sit tight for a second. there is a logjam at the top. because of complicated tiebreaking scenarios, the order could change as the season moves towards its conclusion even if the teams at the top remain tied. the texans wrapped up the afc south today. they will make their first ever postseason appearance. and the jets climb the ladder with a win and losses by the other wild card contenders. we've been asking this question for weeks. which now is the team to beat in
12:03 am
the afc? >> you've got those four teams with the ten wins, bob. houston has quarterback injury. new england has secondary injury. pittsburgh and baltimore are the most complete teams. but now with ben roethlisberger being injured the other night, we don't know if he is going to be healthy. pittsburgh needs ben roethlisberger not just playing but with that mobility and playing the way he can play to be a complete team. i really like what baltimore is doing now. they have a big one next sunday night. i think they're the most complete team of all the teams in the afc. >> thanks, tony. we turn to mike florio. as always, mike will have the big news tomorrow afternoon on nbcsports. mike, right now a number of players suffered injuries today. one coach had a health scare. run it all down for us.
12:04 am
>> well, bob, the green bay packers had an easy time of getting to 13-0. now they have to square out an mri on monday for their leading receiver. jennings has a knee sprain. he was carted off and missed the remainder of the win against the oakland raiders. and for the new york jents, the second straight september, they lost jim leonhard. he'll miss the rest of the season with a knew injury. mri tomorrow to confirm the xebld of the damage. and matthew hasselbeck left early with a calf injury. he said he could have returned business his rookie was able to do more physically. then finally, the falcons had a scare on the team playing after the game. coach mike smith had chest pain. he was taken to a local hospital. everything checked out fine. he's expected to be available for the falcons thursday night game at home. >> all right, mike. thanks for the update. wednesday night on versus, nfl
