campus and had students stuck in buildings for hour has ended. it began this afternoon near the northern virginia community campus in alexandria. please got a call about a man with a gun high above mason drive with king street. jackie bensen reports now from outside the building that became the focus for the swat team. >> reporter: this ended in a somewhat unusual manner about an hour ago. we're told the suspect climbed down from his eighth floor apartment, climbed down from the balcony and broke into an apartment on the seventh floor just below. he was unaware that police were inside there waiting just in case that happened. this all began about 4:15. this began about 4:15 this afternoon. we're told a man made a call to police saying that there was someone inside at the address, saying he was armed with a gun and threatening to kill himself. police in floors 6 through 12 of

that is the colder air making its way our way. a couple of interesting systems coming our way. we'll talk about them in my full forecast. >> another story that has the nfl up in arms and concerned, as well it should be. a player for the chicago bears has been charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine in the amount of several kilograms each week. >> reporter: sam herd is is a wide receiver for the chicago bears and a former member of the dallas cowboys. authorities say he's one of the biggest drug dealers in chicago. he was arrested by federal agents last night after allegedly trying to buy a kilo of cocaine from an undercover agent inside of a chicago restaurant. during the meeting authorities say herd told the agent he wanted to buy more than $100,000 worth of cocaine each week in toward distribute the drugs. he's also alleged to have told

the agent he already distributes four kilos a week but needed more supply. he faces up to 40 years in prison. things could get a lot worse. there are reports out of chicago that police have a list of nfl players that were herd's client and the list is reportedly in the double figures. so this could be just the beginning. jim? doreen? >> the fair tax county school board is still meeting tonight and has yet to vote on whether to allow security cameras in high school. the issue came up after a series of disruptive food fights. each school's principal would have the final say. >> some council members reportedly paid for a party by dipping into their constituent service funds. critics say those funds are rarely used to benefit constituents. >> well, what we found is that

iraq is officially over tonight. defense secretary leon panetta lead a small ceremony at a military base outside of baghdad. complete military control of the country is now in the hands of the iraqi government. it marks the end of a conflict that lasted nearly nine years, nearly 4,500 u.s. servicemen and women were killed. another 32,000 were injured in iraq. more than 4,000 service members are now making their way back to the u.s. >> the white house responded this evening to reports that a medal of honor recipient's actions on the battlefield were embellished. marine corps sergeant dakota myer got the medal in november. but a report says many of the reports were inaccurate. the initial report said he killed one taliban fighter and saved nine afghans. other accounts from the white house and the marines say meyer

killed a number of enemies and saved a as many as 36 lives. marine corps attributes the differing accounts to what they call the fog of war. the pentagon and the white house both stand by the award. they say they have no plans to investigate the discrepancies. >> more than a hundred angry women rallied at the university of vermont today after a fraternity questionnaire was made public. last question stated if you could rape someone, who would it be? the significant if a -- sigma pfiepsilon chapter has been suspended. >> the justice department is giving a sheriff 60 days to change the way he does business

and those changes will be coming during the day tomorrow and into the weekend. don't expect this warm weather to last. winter will make a comeback by saturday. out there right now it is still remarkably warm. that cold front still well back to our west. high temperature today got up to 63 degrees. the average high is 47. so we were 20 degrees above average in some locations. 16 there at the airport. last year our high, 34. wind gust of 30 miles an hour and our wind chill was in the 20s all day long. a little bit of a difference between last year and this year. december last year extremely cold. december so far this year very, very warm. and on the mild side. 62 degrees the current temperature. at 11:00 at night on december 15th. just amazing. wind out of the south, southwest at 14 miles per hour. current temperatures still on the warm side. almost like an october afternoon out there right now. but the cold air, it's back to

the west. behind this frontal boundary, you can still see some shower activity around the front. we're not going to see any around our area. if we do, it will just be a sprinkle or two. you can see what i'm talking about. here's the frontal boundary. these are the interesting systems i was talking about. one down to the south. this has a lot of moisture and it's going to make its way our way. there's another system in canada. that's the one that's going to bring in colder air. here's our frontal boundary, nice warm air out ahead of it. behind it, here comes the cooldown for tomorrow. we'll start off with at least some sunshine buff then t then increasing cloud during the afternoon. we could see some snow, maybe mixed precipitation. southern maryland, i think you have the best chance to see rain from this and it would be rain here. but bu back to the mountains,

maybe a little bit in the way of snow there. the big deal will be the colder temperature on saturday. saturday afternoon partly cloudy, a very chilly afternoon. watch what happens sunday. look at this snow coming out of the north. this is is an arctic front, really the first one of the season that we're going to see. it going to bring a very brief shot of the moisture, a slight chance for snow shower activity late saturday night in early sunday morning. you may walk up to some snow on your car. big are deal is the cold behind it. sunday is going to be chilly. tomorrow afternoon we're going o see numbers well below where they were today by about 20 degrees. cloud will be thickening. we'll see possible showers. best chance will be in the south and it will be late in the afternoon tomorrow. then we see the cooler air settle in. on sunday an a.m. flurry chance but that will be most likely
