parkway. these are live pickeds over a deadly accident in the southbound lanes of the exit to route 450. the car is overturned. police say only this one car was involved in the accident. southbound lanes are closed. you should avoid the area if you are heading out. >> our top story at 4:00 today, this is the biggest day so far in the 20 12 right for the white house. it's the republican primary in florida. a huge state with 50 delegates lined up for the winner. >> the runup for today's vote has been nasty and expensive. florida voters have been hit with a barrage of attack ads. steve handlesman has the latest. >> reporter: at 7,000 polling places across florida, 1.5 million voters are expected today. >> voted for mitt romney. i think he has the best chance at beating obama.

as of yet. two firefighters were rushes to the hospital with smoke inhalation. crews are hoping for a little rain. italian authorities have cut back the search for people still missing from that cruise ship disaster, the ship hit a reef. officials called off the search because conditions have gotten too dangerous for divers. however, search efforts will continue. 17 bodies have continued so far. 15 people are still missing. the ship contains thousands of gallons of heavy oil, and fears are building it could spilling. a new stand-off between park police and the occupy d.c. protesters, this time over the tent of dreams. the blue tarp draped over mcpherson's statue. protesters told police they would take the tent down if they

were awloud to camp there. which is not likely to happen. if police do decide too evict the protesters, police have to give them notice, and the protesters can contest the eviction. tracy wilkins has more. 3467 u.s. park police enter the camp. occupiers check tents to make sure no one was sleeping. they enforced the no camping rules on monday and are threatening to arrest anyone found sleeping. occupiers are waiting for the police to evict the group enmass. when police came this morning they weren't coming to kick them out. >> we can't allow stuff like this. we hope you'll come to compliance, and we're requesting you take the tarp down. >> reporter: police wanted the protesters to take down what they call the tarp of dreams. a tents like structure they put up yesterday afternoon over the

park's statue. what does the tarp represent? >> to us, it's the idea we can't sleep here. it causes us a lot of grievance because sleep is our time to we recuperate. >> reporter: a group of occupiers are at the federal courthouse in d.c. supporting a suit filed against the department of interior, seeking a temporary restraining order against the camping ban in force with police. >> we had a petition gathered in two days, a day and a half. so that the core decision is whether we'll be able to camp in the park, sleep in the park. >> reporter: tracecy wilkins, news 4. >> just a few minutes ago, a scuffle broke out in the park.

he's a retired d.c. resident who's tired of watching what's going on with police doing nothing about it. police stopped him from taking down the tent and took him away. it's unclear whether they will charge him. a decline in consumer confidence and home prices offset gains in the financials. at last check, the dow was down 18 pointses, the nasdaq was up 2. and the s&p 500 was up less than a half a point. stocks are still on track to have the best january showing since 19 9 7. we're counting down to super bowl 46. still days away. the spotlight on the big event is shining today. as jay gray reports, that means the super bowl gets super stran strange.

a trip to the jungle landed a couple americans face to face with a bunch of gorillas. john king, ii, his wife and their tour guide were trekking through southwestern uganda last month when these guys came into view. king sat still with his back toward the animals while his guide began rolling. for three minutes they groomed his hair and examined him closely. mountain gorillas are considered an endangered species with only 300 existing in the wild. this video is being used to promote gorilla conservation. a treasured piece of kennedy family history has changed hands. the main house of the kennedy compound has been donated to the edward kennedy institute for the u.s. senate. it will be open to the public

police in montgomery county are searching for a group of men. a state police helicopter helped search a wooded area this morning. initially police were called after reports of a suspicious man lurking around cars. when police arrived, the men took off. we are now hearing the 911

the break in the case appears to have come last week when an anonymous tip led cops to harris' body. darcie spencer is live in palmer park with the new developments for us. darcie? >> reporter: police are saying one arrest has been made, but they made it quite clear additional arrests are coming, and possibly as soon as today. we also know what the motive was behind the shooting death of lenny harris. they say the motive was robbery. the suspect was identified today as lin wood johnson. he's 49 years old and lives in oxon hill. he's been charged with murder. police say he did know the victim, lenny harp is, but they're not saying how. harris disappeared in december last scene at a rec center in alexandria where he lived. police were called to this well by an
