aspects. >> no arrests were made in tuesday night's incident because spokesperson for the d.c. police department says that agency is consulting with the u.s. attorney's office on the matter. reporting from northwest washington, jackie bensen, news 4. >> a teach and part time coach is in jail tonight accused of having sex with a student. he's approaching 60, she's just 15. shomari stone has more. >> reporter: 47-year-old scott spear, a social security studies teacher in rockville is accused of having con sensual sex with a richmond, montgomery high school student. >> would he do something like this? >> absolutely not. >> reporter: but police say the 16-year-old told someone she had sex with spear around ten months ago. spear still works at the middle school. he's the girl's crack coach and basketball coach at the high school. are you surprised he's accused of doing something like this?

>> i am. >> reporter: why? >> because he's really nice to students. you wouldn't think he would do that kind of stuff. >> at one point during their contact they had met up. the track coach had taken the student to a residence in rockville and there they engaged in sexual intercourse on two open cases. >> reporter: police arrested and charged scott spear with two charges of committing a fourth degree sex offense. parents are concerned about their safety. >> i have to be very careful about my daughter and their friends. they're in eighth grade. >> reporter: scott spear is in jail. he expected to have a bond hearing friday. i called his attorney several times and he didn't answer. spear is on paid administrative leave. as for the schools, officials at julius west middle school and richard montgomery high school will be provided counseling.

>> police are trying to figure out how a man managed to talk his way into a school building yesterday afternoon. an 11-year-old victim was escorting him around the school when the assault happened. there is a security camera outside school but it not clear if it was working. >> a man in a lincoln navigator took police on a wild chase through maryland and d.c. police attempted to pull him over and he took off. the state police chased him in the district where he crashed into several other cars on new york avenue and he was arrested. it happened in an instant, a truck crossed the median slamming head on into a metro bus. tonight we're hearing from a passenger on the bus who relaid the chaotic situation to a 911 dispatcher and described the bus driver's injuries. >> is anybody bleeding?

>> is she bleeding? >> yes, she's face down and she's bleeding a little bit but she's says she okay but she's a little banged up. it the driver that i'm worried about because she's pinned underneath the steering wheel. >> the metro bus driver is still recovering and her composure behind the wheel likely saved lives. the truck driver died at the scene. investigators aren't sure why he crossed the median. >> outside tonight we're talking wind chills for the first time in what seems like a long time. doug, it cold out there. >> we were 72 degrees yesterday. now we have a wind chill outside of about 36. a 36 degree temperature drop if you add in the wind. this is denver, colorado where they're expecting one to two feet of snow. this is a massive snow out here. it is going to move to the east. it could affect your weekend. i'll have that weekend forecast for you coming up in just a couple of minutes. >> concerns are mounting tonight that israel is ready to attack

affidavit alleges they found multiple pellet of heroin in his stomach. this is the third heroin smuggling arrest since the first of the year at dulles. >> today top senate republicans backed a plan to cut federal jobs and freeze worker salaries through 2014. the bill by senators john mccain and john kyle would replace about 110 billion in cuts set to start next year. supporters say the pay freeze is needed to avoid slashes to the u.s. defense. the house passed a bill last night to halt federal raises through next year. the senate also passed a bill today to make it illegal for members of congress to take part in insider trading. the stock act won bipartisan approval with 96 votes. executive branch workers would be banned from trading on information that's learned on the job. house majority leader eric kantor says the house may take up this bill next week. >> former washington redskins

quarterback keith schuler says he will not be running for reelection to congress. he first came to washington as the first round pick of the redskins in 1994. he was supposed to be the quarterback of the future but that didn't work out. schuler faced an uphill climb for reelection this time after his district in north carolina was redrawn. >> so the super bowl now less than 72 hours away. jim vance has been in indianapolis all week, a city known more for its racing than for football. you got to try it out, huh, vance? >> well, in a manner of speaking. i'm happy to say i did. i got to tell you something, i'm going to tell what you is impossible. it is impossible to be in this or really any other super bowl city and be bored. there is something going on all over in and around this town, truly something for everyone. >> hopefully mario won't be mad

last week parents were notified when nine eighth graders apparently ate some pot brownies at a middle school in ash burn. >> a car crashed into a gas station in prince georges county. no unelse was seriously injured. the woman driving suffered some sort of medical problem that caused her to lose control and it flipped her car and hit two other cars. the people there say they were fortunate that the flipping car missed a gas pump. >> in just a matter of weeks a new speed camera on fox hall road in the district has nabbed tens of thousands of drivers. d.c. police chief kathy lanier says sin it was installed the camera has issued 31,000 warnings and tickets. the camera is on a downhill slope. it got public attention after a restaurant owner hired a sign spinner to stand out on the street and warn drivers. chief lanier says she doesn't care if people know it's coming. >> residents have repeatedly complained. so if he's going to help me slow

them down there, i'm all for it. i hope he slows down. >> the speed limit along fox hall road in that area is 25 miles an hour. >> people up and down the east coast will be watching virginia tomorrow to see the fate of a law that limits the number of handguns you can buy. today the statehouse passed a bill that wouldnd virginia's one handgun per month law. a similar senate measure will be voted on tomorrow. both bills went into law that was passed after the commonwealth became a major supplier of handguns used in crimes. >> the president will be visiting fire station 5 on south hey street near the pentagon city mall and will announce a new initiative to help war veterans become firefighters. police say the drivers should expect traffic backups from 10 a.m. to noon in pentagon and

but right now anything but warm. 44 here with north to northwest winds at 10 miles per hour. the good news with that is we are no longer seeing wind gusts to 25 miles an hour last hour. that made the wind chill even cooler. 39 in winchester, 43 in culpepper, annapolis and krofton coming in at 45 degrees. 36 in leaseberg, down to the freezing mark in winchester, 44 in fredericksburg. it is a chilly evening as our storm system moved on by. that's it for the rain for us but back to the west, a completely different story. this is a monster storm in the denver area. they're expecting one to two feet of snow, upwards of 50 miles an hour winds. they already reported upward of 10 inches south and east of denver, too. this is is a big one for them. there this is a classic type of

snowstorm, snow to the north and severe weather to the south. this is looking more and more potent for our area. it's not going to be anything like this is out there but we'll have to watch it closely. here comes that next storm and i do think now that there could be enough cold air that some of us could see some snowflakes overnight saturday night into the day on sunday. this is still a very tough forecast. we're still watching this one very, very closely but right now it does not look like we're going to see a whole lot from this but i do expect to see some rain and now maybe some snow. stay tuned. clear skies, much cooler, seasonably mild. 30 to 36 degrees when you wake up tomorrow morning. tomorrow afternoon a high temperature of about 52 degrees, 48 on saturday, 44 on sunday, watching out for that possible rain/snow mix in some areas. as we look on toward next week,

and deon and aaron and gronk and the running backs with a good catch to allow them to get in the defense, we've been stressing that a lot last couple of weeks. >> tom brady not seeming too flustered. th the giants are going to continue to try to get him off his game. we're trying to figure off if mike shanahan will be successful with the redskins. so far things have not gone right. we caught one a guy on radio row who might know mike shanahan better than anybody. that's the former linebacker for the denver broncos, bill rome now ski. a little bit of a wild man but shanahan loved this guy. we asked romo if shanahan could be successful with this redskins team. >> you got to have players. he won in denver because he had good football players.
