and you can hear the radio commercials but that's not the same as seeing the tv commercials. >> not at all. >> here's the deal. the annual state of the league address from roger goodall, the nfl commissioner. they're going to have 13 thursday night games next season. that means every single team in the nfl including teams like the jacksonville jaguars will have a primetime game. it means the redskins will even have a primetime game next season. they want to play a regular season game in mexico again and they're keeping an open mind about another cold weather city for the super bowl if everything goes well. not here in indianapolis because that's inside but in 2014 in new york. as we said earlier it was the final day of practice for the two teams here and the coaches finally said, let's get it on. >> i feel like our team has had a good week. i feel we'll be ready to go and we're looking forward and excited to be representing the afc in this game and it's a big challenge for us but one we're excited to face. >> our players have been excited
6:47 pm
about getting from the meeting room to practice field and that has built up very well over the last couple days. we look forward to today, to our normal friday practice and of course going through our saturday routine and on into game day. >> all right. i talked about that special delivery earlier. >> what is that? what are you talking about? >> so the giants have a superstition. they've been going to this pizzeria in new hyde park in new york for the last five or six years. a lot of the linemen so they said let's have pizzas delivered. so they had a plane brought in here from new hyde park in new york. >> i wonder if they're still hot. >> a good question. they had 20 pizzas and the pizza place had a police escort to laguardia that got on the plane. they were out here and the guys were eating it today because that's their friday afternoon tradition. >> when you're in the super bowl all kinds of wonderful things just miraculously happen don't they? and yeah when you're in a bowl you are supposed to have a
6:48 pm
police escort to the plane. >> i think that worked out just fine for the giants today. >> wouldn't we love to have one sometime? once after what, 20 some years. bring it on. >> just once. that's the giants. the patriots, good news from rob there tight end, did practice on a limited basis again today. he is officially questionable for sunday but he is going to be good to go. speaking of the tight ends, man, they are awesome. maybe the best combination ever in the history of the nfl. rob grenkowsky and aaron hernandez have been fantastic. killing everybody this year. an nfl record 17 touchdowns for a tight end. hernandez didn't have quite the same eye-popping numbers but he still had 910 receiving yards. that's more than 2,000 yards and 24 touchdowns from tight ends. you have to wonder if there is a friendly competition between the two. >> maybe when we first got there we competed a little bit because we kind of didn't know if we were supposed to be friends or
6:49 pm
laughing with each other. we were both trying to get a starting job. but when we both started working together and as one, we really took it as one and the thing we do talk about, maybe stats together and both of our stats adding up compared to other two tight end sets. >> when we saw the opportunity we talked about it a little bit and knew if we told each other if we just keep working hard and doing what we got to do we can do good things. and count each other as one and the numbers combined together are pretty awesome and it was definitely a great year with us two. >> i'd say the numbers are pretty awesome. the two tight ends one of the reasons the patriots are favored by three in the super bowl. but for some reason, the giants started as the hot trendy pick the minute they made the big game despite a 9-7 regular season record. and they remained the popular pick among the experts and some, well, nonexperts on radio row. let's hear from a couple guys who do know what they're talking about. >> i think the giants are going to win it.
6:50 pm
they're the hottest team right now. i think eli is the hottest quarterback. i think if they do their job pressing the quarterback they should win. >> i like the giants in this one. i think the giants' wide receiving corps is going to be a real task to deal with for the new england patriots secondary so i'm leaning to the giants 27-17. the reason i picked that score was it was the score of super bowl 17 when the redskins beat the dolphins. all right. that's joe thiseman, deacon jones, both men picking the giants. bad news? caps fans. you've lost 2 of your last 3 games. good news you're getting ovi back from that three-game suspension, alex ovechkin, and ready to go. the capitals need him back there out on the ice. >> it's kind of, you know, you miss a game and the decision was made and, you know, i don't know
6:51 pm
if it is going to change my game or not. again, it's a physical game. i'm going to do my best to help this team take some points and, you know, make some hits, score some goals. it's my goal. >> nice to have him back. had a little vacation in south beach. he's been seemingly away for about two weeks since that suspension. >> i have to tell you something about grankowsky. mike ditka was not a bad tight end in his day. i heard him say something really scary. he said he doesn't even know yet now good he is and as soon as he finds out like maybe next year, instead of worrying about high ankle sprains he'll start breaking people's necks and he said i guarantee it. and i'm inclined to believe it. that guy is awesome. >> he is amazing. >> that fast, that strong. >> when guys like ditka say that, other players say the same stuff, you know he is the real deal. >> i believe it. coming up tonight at 11:00 we have something that is absolutely delightful. we floon joe gibbs today.
6:52 pm
and, you kn, joe gibbs was absolutely the finest coach ever in washington. he is still coaching but he's not coaching big, brawny men anymore. he is coaching his sons and others and what he has to say about those kids is really, really funny. check us out tonight at 11:00 with joe gibbs. >> all right. >> back to you. >> i don't think we've heard your super bowl predictions yet though you guys. >> who? >> you two. >> oh, ours? >> you heard mine. >> you've heard vance's. we're going to give a complete synopsis of our predictions coming up tomorrow. >> oh, coming up tomorrow. >> have a good weekend. >> all right. i got a super bowl -- >> you'll have to tune in. >> i have a prediction. i predict madonna brings some, one or more special guests out with her during the halftime show. >> yes. >> in all seriousness? >> yes. >> i've heard that she could have some very risque stuff on. this is going to be a hot halftime show. >> no, not madonna. >> i'm telling you it is going
6:53 pm
to be controversial. >> fcc be alerted. >> fcc be alerted. >> if she's still got today my journey continues across the golden state, >> fcc be alerted. >> if she's still got where everyone has been unbelievably nice. mornin'. i guess i'm helping them save hundreds on car insurance. it probably also doesn't hurt that i'm a world-famous advertising icon. cheers! i mean, who wouldn't want a piece of that? geico. ah... fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent oh dear... or more on car insurance.

what it was over the last couple days. we have 72. we saw 60s. today we saw high temperature in the low 50s. tomorrow we get to 49 but the rain moves in late in the day and will persist overnight tomorrow night and may change to some wet snow to the north on sunday morning so watch out for that. could be a fairly rainy sunday, too. we are going to see temperatures rebound though as we head into next week. >> thank you, doug. >> finally tonight we want you to meet a baby everyone is talking about. he's become known as the pingpong baby. he as toddler named jamie who appears to have a real future in sports given his powers of concentration and hand-eye coordination. we don't know too much about jamie except that his youtube video has gone viral and that his father's been working with him since he was about 6 months old before jamie could even sit on the table by himself or hold a paddle on his own. he doesn't look that much older than 6 months there. you think he is even old enough to walk yet? >> all i know he is a lot better than handly. >> awesom
