protestor hit an officer in the face with a brick. good evening, everyone. i'm aaron gilchrist. we'll have that story in just a moment, but we begin with the return of some winter weather. a lot of folks in the area saw snow tonight. chuck bell is in storm center 4 with more for us. chuck, the question is, any more snow coming? >> well, yes indeed, aaron. we're going to get at least a little bit more snow overnight, not quite the punch we had earlier this evening but nonl the less a little bit more snow on the way. current temperatures are flirting just below the freezing mark across far southern pennsylvania, 33 now in hagerstown, maryland, 33 in martinsburg, west virginia. once the snow and rain stopped, temperatures went up across montgomery and fairfax counties. here on radar you can see light snow showers north of winchester moving in towards martinsburg, west virginia, right down the 270 corridor. be on the lookout for what might be another inch for a lucky few, but that's about it. a little light snow late

tonight, maybe anotherdrier air sunday. hit in the face with a brick. a police officer sent to the hospital after a confrontation with occupy d.c. this happened the same day that police swept that camp in dramatic fashion. this is where darcy spencer joins us live from mcpherson square with exclusive video. >> reporter: aaron, here's how it was explained to me. u.s. park police say that the officer was actually inside the mcpherson square encampment area and the brick was lobbed from someone standing on "k" street. that man is in custody and tonight is facing felony charges. this u.s. park police officer was injured after being hit in the face by a brick at the occupy d.c. encampment at mcpherson square. this exclusive video shows he needed help walking to an awaiting suv. police have arrested and charged the brick thrower described as one of the protestors with assault with a deadly weapon.

the assault happened on a day when u.s. park police swept the encampment, arriving before dawn on horseback. >> you are being evicted. >> reporter: police in hazmat suits began clearing trash, debris and tents deemed to be health hazards. protefrts say their personal property was seized and ransacked. >> they told us this morning they weren't going to be removing tents that we were in compliance. but that seems to have been a lie. >> reporter: but then it got more intense. police in riot gear closed off sections of mcpherson square, setting up metal gates to keep occupiers out. that led to angry clashes with police and several arrests, including one man who hopped over the barrier. >> he's arrested. >> our purpose was to enforce the camping regulations. the regulations are being enforced as a nuisance abatem t abatement. this is not an eviction. >> reporter: police spent hours cleaning out the encampment,

hauling away trash, tents and belongings. a forklift was brought in to assist in removing heavy and bulky items. do you think occupy d.c. is over? >> no, not at all. i mean, the rest of the occupiers are going strong. >> reporter: many of the dozens tents erected here at mcpherson square are now gone, including the so-called tent of dreams on the statue of general mcpherson. it's unclear what protestors will do next. >> i just don't think we're going to take this, and we are not going to stop. >> reporter: now, u.s. park police are maintaining a presence here this evening. the portion on the park as you see here behind me remains closed at this hour chblt some protestors have returned to some portions of the park that are open. and the question remains, what does this mean for this movement? will these protestors come back? that remains to be seen. but they're vowing to continue on. reporting live from mcpherson square, darcy spencer, news4.

an anna rundell county cop is accused of tipping off a group of suspects about a drug raid. police say corporal rick alexander was part of a raid in shady side. the suspects told police alexander warned them so they moved marijuana to another location. police found the pot and alexander is on desk duty during the investigation. two prince george's police officers credited with alerting senior citizens to a fire this their building. the officers saw smoke coming from the assisted facility on college park this afternoon. they went inside, noticed the fire alarm was not working and the officers alerted residents and told them to stay put. that blaze was quickly extinguished and no injuries reported. fire inspectors were trying to figure out why the alarm never went off. turning now to decision 2012. the nevada caucuses just wrapping up, and mitt romney scores another big win. you see here the vote counting is still taking place actually, but romney has a commanding

lead. but there is a close battle for second shaping up between newt gingrich and ron paul. nbc's brian moore has the latest. >> reporter: nbc news projects mitt romney is the big winner in the nevada caucuses. >> you know, this is not the first time you gave me your vote of confidence, and this time i'll take it to the white house. >> reporter: it's romney's third victory this presidential primary season and caps a week in which his florida primary win was -- ron paul betting big on the caucus states battled with gingrich for second place and a share of the delegates. >> we have chosen to go to the caucus states becau if somebody is energized like our supporters are and that it costs a little less money and you just have to motivate people. >> reporter: rick santorum finished fourth and he's looking ahead. >> we're down to four candidates, three of which have won a state and probably three

wanted to do things big, we'll say. jason billy calderon came in at a whopping 13 pounds 7 ounces when he was born a few weeks ago. take a look at this. this is jason. his mother dinella as well. she says that she was three days overdue and she was starting to get a little bit uncomfortable, believe it or not. jason is actually the biggest baby in the history of whittier hospital medical center in whittier, california. dinella says jason has double the appetite, downing 4 ounces of formula per feeding. ♪ $10 any pizza any way you like it ♪ maybe you've seen this guy around here. he is david johnson from the d.c. area. that's the jingle he wrote that will debut before the super bowl tomorrow. jason won a nationwide contest for pizza hut. he also wins a year's worth of free pizza.

from kickoff, which is 6:29 tomorrow. and all week long we've been checking in with jim vance and dan hellie out in indianapolis. tonight we finally get to hear who they think will be the winners of the big game. they also got some predictions from other people who are in the know. >> reporter: so here we are, less than 24 hours from the kickoff of super bowl xlvi, and it's about that time where we give our own predictions. they mean absolutely nothing. >> reporter: absolutely nothing. >> reporter: but we've got to do it. so i want to hear yours first, man. >> reporter: i think i've already made it clear. i'm expecting the giants to win the game. i'm expecting them to win the it game because i think in every area that matters, both offense, defense and special teams, i think the giants have just the slightest bit of an edge. and that includes quarterbacking. i really do think that eli manning is peaking at just the right time. that's one. and number two, i think eli fully realizes if he wins this game that's his ticket to canton and the hall of fame.

snow showers coming right down to 70 through montgomery county, also out of northern loudoun county, the panhandle west virginia wf, few snowflakes in and around martinsburg. this is generally drifting southea southeastbound. some of this will end up downtown and we'll have conversational snowflakes and light rain showers during the overnight hours. any accumulating snow potential is probably confined to montgomery, frederick counties and pan haend elle west virginia wf. we'll be off to a generally light start tomorrow as high pressure builds in, puts the dry air in place. one or two breaks of sunshine but staying chilly tomorrow. bright sunshine continues monday. up close on our microcast model, the light snow persists across the high spots throughout the overnight hours tonight, maybe a little bit of rain sneaking into the washington area as well. but, again, any real opportunities for accumulations are confined really to northern maryland out to the panhandle

everybody's getting ready. >> everybody but one man. on super bowl eve, the patriots played the role of grinch releasing underwood and signing a rookie defensive end. the move increases the chances that receiver chad ochocinco will be active for the game. it's not all bad news for underwood. he would likely still get a ring if they win. meanwhile, big night for aaron rodgers winning the league mvp award. he received 48 of the 50 awards earning the first mvp award of his career. this season rodgers set an nfl record with a quarterback rating of 122.5. he threw 45 touchdowns and only six interceptions. rodgers is the fifth packer to win the mvp. also ravens linebacker wins the defensive player of the year award and with his first season of the 49ers jim harbaugh coach the year. also twont, the 2012 pro

football class announced. first, curtis martin, fourth on the all-time rushing list, chris doleman, put up hall of fame numbers, finishing with 150 1/2 sacks. cortez kennedy played his entire 11 years with seattle. also going to canton, offensive tackle willie roaf, dermontti dawson, and jack butler who played for pittsburgh from 1951 to 1959. nba tonight, clippers' all-star brake griffin and company in town to play the wizards. simply put, it was a slam dunk for los angeles. blake griffin lead s nba with dunks. nick young, first quarter, to the bucket, rocks the rim. take another look. this actually may be a surprise. as a team, the wizards actually lead the league in dunks. but it was pretty much all clippers after that.
