♪ this is "the voice" ♪ daly: welcome back to the blind auditions. the thing that separates "the voice" from all the others is that we begin with the highest level of talent. jermaine: i was a background vocalist for alicia keys and i've been able to open up for her all around the world. i have a special message. hey, jermaine. it's alicia keys. i am so excited for you. it's your time to shine. we're rooting for you, baby. i just got done working with green day on their "american idiot" show on broadway. daly: whether they're touring with grammy-winning artists or gracing the broadway stage, the singers we've invited are already a cut above the rest. our next artist, chris mann, is ready to put his years of training to the test. i started studying classical music when i was 15. and then i decided to make a life out of it. artista, i moved to nashville, tennessee, to major in opera at vanderbilt university. i would love to win "the voice" for my mom. last year,

mom had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. it was terrifying. that's the same cancer that took steve jobs' life. and i tried to pack it up to go home, but she would not hear it. it was almost like she's at home fighting for her health and for her life, and she wanted me to stay and fight for my dream. chris' mom: the last year has been rough. chris has been understandably very upset, but chris has an amazingly beautiful singing voice, and it's an amazing opportunity. and as a parent, we want all of those things to happen for our children. [ sighs ] i know that i have to sing like i've never sung before. and the song i'm singing is not easy, and i've definitely thought about that. but this is what i've been waiting for. i just hope i can grab onto that opportunity.

i'm chris mann. chris, that was pretty phenomenal. and you know what? i just love seeing the statement "the voice" behind your face right now because honestly you were exactly that. thank you. blake: man, i think you're a really good singer. i just -- i know i'm country. i couldn't understand one word he was saying. but you're a really good singer. chris, that was so exceptionally beautiful. that was the most... thanks. that was wonderful. wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. and you're obviously american. and i've tried to sort of shrink my voice down to fit. but i decided for this show, i was gonna just sing like myself. christina: whoo! [ cheers and applause ] i think throughout my entire career i've pretty much spoken as being an individual. and you know what? something that really spoke to me was when you said, you know, "i try to shrink myself down "to fit into, you know a stereotype or a box or something like that." and sometimes there are voices that come along that you can't shrink down, and you have to just let it shine and let that voice just go. and tonight, you did that. [ cheers and applause ] so, it's between you, huh? me and cee lo. what would you like to do with what i do? i mean, that's -- everything. it seems like there's nothing that you can't do. ♪ this is "the voice" ♪ daly: welcome back to "the voice." our four coaches are each building teams of 12 with the strongest voices they can find. adam has pushed his button three times but has failed to win anyone over. damn it! this is his last chance tonight to score an artist for his team. will tony lucca fit the bill? tony: when i was 14, i auditioned for "the mickey mouse club" in detroit, and i got it. to this day, people still come up to me and say, "i used to watch you on 'the mickey mouse club.'" it means so much. so, you've been onstage with christina before. i have. as a mouseketeer on "the mickey mouse

club," i got a chance to perform with christina britney spears justin timberlake. if your old pal christina turns her chair around would she recognize you from back in the day? liam: i don't know if she would know his voice. but she would know his look. i might sound familiar but i don't think she'd be like, "oh, my god. i know who that is." tony: after "the mickey mouse club" was canceled a good handful of kids obviously went on to pursue pop stardom. i decided to kind of jump in the truck and take my guitar and started playing smaller clubs. and, you know, after a while you sort of reach a ceiling, and always kind of in search of that next big break. i'm all or nothing on this one. ♪ trouble ♪ [ cheers and applause ] whoo! ♪ trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble ♪ ♪ trouble been doggin' my soul ♪ ♪ since the day i was born ♪

tonight, super bowl xlvi down to the wire. we are live in indy with vance and dan on the field. wounded warriors and washingtonians alike gather to watch the big game. pat collins live at one of the biggest parties. also tonight, an explosion levels a house, but who was inside is the reason it's making headlines nationwide. plus, a plane crashes into a home, and minutes later the pilot and his daughter walk out the front door. good evening. i'm dorene gentzler. >> and i'm aaron gilchrist. one of the most amazing finishes in super bowl history. here is a live picture now from manhattan as giants fans all over new york all five

boroughs, are celebrating a big super bowl win. >> jim vance and dan hellie join us live from the field at lucas oil stadium. gentlemen, what a finish. great game. >> dorineeen and aaron, it's unbelievable. it's like these giants have been doing it all year long. eli keeps bringing them back and bringing them back. >> one of the cool things here tonight was that all over the stadium there were these signs, big banners, "deja blue." it's a reference i guess to four years ago. remember four years ago eli brought them back again. that time it was the catch on the helmet. i forget who -- >> david tyree. >> right. this time it was manningham. an incredible circus catch on the sidelines that kept them in the game and got them back -- and got them all the way down to the end. >> yeah. and it was the longest play of the game. these guys what a remarkable turnaround for the giants this season. just seven weeks ago they were 7-7. now they've won six straight after losing that game -- >> can i mention? >> yeah. >> we beat them twice. >> yeah. redskins beat them tice. >> twice.

>> and that's what a lot of guys said turned their season around because they had to win out. let's take a look at some of the highlights from the game because this was a spectacular finish. super bowl xlvi. eli manning going for his second ring. tom brady going for his fourth. we start in the fourth quarter. giants down by two on their own 10 yard line. manning. looking down the sideline for mario manningham. and what a catch. take another look at this thing. >> awesome. >> he does keep both feet inbounds. before being pushed out. a 38-yard catch that would set up the go-ahead score. and ahmad bradshaw gets it from six yards out with a minute left. he probably wanted to waste a little more time, but falls into the end zone. giants take a 21-17 lead. final seconds. brady trying to get the patriots into the end zone. the ball's at midfield. all he can do is chuck it up there. it's a hail mary. rob gronkowski close to getting his hands on it but just can't get there. the giants win super bowl

4621-17, the final, and they do it again by beating the patriots. eli manning the mvp gets his second super bowl title, one more than his big brother. and coach, absolutely elated. >> it's been a wild day, aw wild season. we've got a great tough bunch of guys, guys that never quit. we have great faith in each other, and i'm just proud of our team the way they dealt with everything this season and came out strong. >> with all the players, all the coaches, all the people that really did a tremendous job to get us here to play against a great team like the patriots and have a finish like that that goes down in history, that's a marvelous feeling. >> we also talked to devin thomas former redskins wide receiver devin thomas. we will hear from him coming up in sports. can't help but feel good for him. redskins cut him. panthers cut him. and now he's super bowl champ. >> what's up with all these guys that get cut from the redskins and go become stars somewhere? we need to talk about that

the guys here are just inspiring. they lift up my spirits. so it's a great experience to be here. regrettably with what happened. but i mean it's just great being here. >> doctors say the annual party is an important part of the healing process for these service members and gives them a nice break from rehab. >> outside tonight temperatures have already fallen below freezing in parts of the area. and that's just the start of the return of winter huh, doug? >> yeah i think we're going to see some more winter-like weather later on this week. a couple of nice days sandwiched in between. out there right now some of the coolest numbers we've seen in a while. 25 right now in manassas. 27 in gaithersburg. 37 right now in washington. and 28 down toward la plata. a very cold start to your monday. but then we're going to look toward maybe the middle of the week. we could see some more winter-like weather coming through. i'll show you what i'm talking about coming up in my full forecast. that in just a couple of minutes. >> thanks doug. the main suspect in the well-publicized disappearance of a woman in utah died alongside

his two sons in a house explosion today. police in seattle say josh powell intentionally blew up his house two years after his wife disappeared. the boys who were just 5 and 7 years old, had just arrived for a supervised visit. the social worker who dropped them off claimed to have smelled gas seconds before the explosion. police investigating susan powell's disappearance in utah say it's too early to determine how the explosion will affect their case. an eventful and at times violent weekend at occupy d.c. camps may not be over, and for sure the cleanup is just starting. here's shammari stone. >> i'm basically i think a preeviction. >> reporter: u.s. park police swept occupy d.c.'s freedom plaza. >> they were basically giving us a warning about what we can and cannot do with our tents, what we can and cannot have in our tents. >> reporter: officers dressed in hazmat suits dismantled some tents that they say were a health hazard here and at mcpherson square. the national park service says

protesters are allowed to hold 24-hour vigils but they can't camp out. >> our purpose is to enforce the camping regulations. >> reporter: it was relatively peaceful here compared to saturday. police say a man threw a brick at an officer's face. investigators charged the protester with felony assault on an officer and assault with a deadly weapon. police arrested at least 12 people over the weekend. the u.s. park police will make sure that tents look like this one with no bedding, no one sleeping inside. and as you can see, the door is open. now, as for the protesters, well they told me they're going to continue to protest while the u.s. park police will make sure that no one's camping out at mcpherson square and freedom plaza. in d.c. i'm shammari stone, news 4. they say what happens in vegas stays in vegas. and the presidential hopes of newt gingrich ron paul, and rick santorum may very well stay in nevada after mitt romney's second decisive victory in a row. romney's win in nevada makes him the nominee, according to

virginia governor bob mcdonnell and it's now a matter of when, not if. gingrich has vowed to stay in the race and will try to create new life in washington this week when the conservative political action conference comes to town. his goal will be to raise enough money over the next few weeks to stay in the race till super tuesday, when ten states hold primaries and caucuses on march 6th. of course, virginia is already a lost cause for gingrich after he failed to meet the minimum number of signatures required to get on the ballot here. voters here will only have a choice between romney and paul as romney tries to move closer to the 1,144 necessary delegates. and still ahead tonight, a plane crashes into a house, landing upside down. the pilot and his daughter walk out the front door.
