tonight. whitney houston's daughter has been rushed to a los angeles hospital after the music icon was found dead in beverly hills. nbc news learned bobby christina brown is being treated for stress. we're told the 18-year-old was taken to the hospital from the beverly hilton hotel, the same hotel where whitney houston died last night. good evening. i'm aaron gilchrist. here's the latest. new video surfaced from thursday after she performed at a nightclub. she's hugging people just two days before her death. her body is currently at a morgue in los angeles awaiting

sglmpblt sglmpblt sglmpbltsz. a mae man is dead after a shooting at the national mall. police say they do not expect foul play. they are investigating the shooting as a possible suicide. the huge highway sign that fell across i-66 yesterday was last inspected four years ago. that 30-foot sign came crashing down in fairfax county hitting a truck. nobody got hurt though. figuring out why the sign fell is a top priority. its signs are usually inspected every five years.

the pictures are incredible. an enormous tree came down on a house. there is a woman who survived this. darcy spencer reports now from virginia. >> reporter: apparently, the woman was asleep here in the section of the house that sustained the most damage. a fire and rescue official says this woman is lucky she made it alive. a woman was pinned in her bed after a large tree smashed through her bedroom early this morning. it took fire and rescue officials one andalf hours to free her. it was a close call after she was pulled from the home. she was taken to the hospital because her legs were numb. >> she was pinned in the bed. >> reporter: the tree nearly split the home in two. it fell around 1:30 this morning. fire rescue officials say there were other family members home at the time. the victim's daughter called 911. another relative was also tr

trapped in the bedroom. >> we had strong winds last night. combined with the relatively moist soil, it's not frozen yet, the tree gets movering in the right direction, that can happen. >> reporter: building inspectors deemed the house uninhabitable. fire officials say it knocked the house off its foundation. >> i have seen a lot of trees on homes, but this is probably the worst i have ever seen. >> reporter: the rescue officials say the woman was only complaining about the pain to her legs. she is expected to make a full recovery. the house is now a total l loss. darcy spencer, news 4. chuck is here now dealing with this cold blast in different ways. it's icy out there. >> today we were ten degrees colder than average for the whole day. that tie is relative to average.

it ties for the coldest day of the winter. only one other day have we been ten degrees colder than average. unbelievable. we have had almost no serious snaps of cold. it doesn't look like this cold snap is going to last that much longer. that being said, if you're planning on taking the dog for a walk, you better bundle up yourself. it's chilly outside. skies are trying to clear out. mixing in the atmosphere is starting to lay down. 30 degrees at reagan national airport. dew points remain in the low 9-degree range. humidity only 41%. the indoor humidity, where everybody scuffs on the rug and l electrocutes their neighbor, it's dry. temperatures now mid- to upper 20s across most of the area. but the winds are remaining up. so winds are still gusting

between 25 and 30 miles per hour across most of the region. as a result, windchills are in the teens. they are headed into the single digits before midnight tonight. luckily though, unlike this time last night, we don't have any snow on storm 4 radar. there are snow flakes across pennsylvania, but they are drying out as they come further to the south. they will not be impacting our weather later on this evening e. the next thing we're waiting on is this moisture in texas. snowing in lubbock texas. rain in the fort worth area. it will start to arrive here as we get into the late night hours monday night and on tuesday. so cold and breezy for the rest of your sunday night. bright sunshine returns tomorrow. but with high pressure scooting to the south, our winds will come back around to the southwest. as a result, we may have a little possibility of some light snow flakes early tuesday morning west of the blue ridge. then towards tuesday evening, we'll have better chances for rain showers in the washington

the capitals will fall 3-2. they are ninth place in the conference. now four points back in the division standings. they host san jose tomorrow night. then it's a four-game road trip. when you look at the numbers, georgetown doesn't seem to do anything real well. they rank 123rd nationally in points per game. 84th in rebounding per game. they play three unheralded freshman on a regular basis. greg winnington had a career day this afternoon. former center checking this one out. nate lubuk out to the freshman. he drains the three from the corner. georgetown up by five at the bre break. winnington not done yet. second half, only leading by three.
