house. more than a quarter of the delegates needed for the nomination are up for grabs and candidates are pounding the pavement in the battleground states. a big day across the country and here in virginia. >> first up today we begin with breaking news out of prince georges county, regarding that councilmember clocked speeding but let off with a warning. she was clocked driving at more than 100 miles an hour on the beltway. police tell us she wasn't charged because the officer's speedometer wasn't calibrated. tolls will be charged with reckless driving, fined $510 and getting six points on her license. at this point the police chief is holding a news conference. we will bring it to you as soon as it comes in to news 4. super tuesday, the biggest day so far in the republican

maryland this afternoon. a dump truck was traveling on route 202. the driver tried to make a turn to white house road -- on to white house road. he realized he wasn't able to complete that turn. to make sure he didn't crash into other cars, he drove straight through a guardrail and stopped just before a creek. the driver avoided other cars and was not injured. >> across parts the south and midwest, cleanup efforts continue tonight in the wake of the deadly string tornados. 40 people in five different states died when strong storms ripped through their communities. a total of 46 separate tornados have now been confirmed. the storms also ravaged countless homes, businesses and schools. insurance claims for the storms could top $2 billion. a kentucky woman who witnessed the storm firsthand released new video from friday. it shows her praying for the powerful tornado to leave.

nearby student housing locked down. police searched the library and campus, but they found nothing. opening statements are underway in the trial over virginia tech's response to the deadly 2007 campus shooting. the families of julia pride and aaron peterson are suing the school for $100,000. peterson's parents live in fairfax. today the family's lawyers said pride and peterson both got timely e-mail alerts about a possible gunman on campus in 2006, but the university waited to tell the entire campus after finding the first signs of the shooting. virginia tech's president is expected to testify tomorrow. president obama today is skpra expressing sadness at the death of a new jersey congressman. he was a former chair of the congressional black caucus. paine announced to his constituents last month that he
