>> reporter: jason russell's video documents the brutal exploits of joseph kony, his lords resistance army and their rein of terror that included kidnapping children. >> turning the girls in to sex slaves and the boys in to child soldiers. >> reporter: it's called kony 2012 because the goal is to catch kony by the end of the year. celebrities like oprah and justin bieber has latched on as well as angelina jolie. the children in the video is what moved this 16-year-old to organize friends at her los angeles high school to raise awareness and money. >> i don't know what it was, but there was something about their tears and their voices that i just couldn't stand. >> reporter: the money she raises goes to the group invisible children. co-founded by filmmaker jason russell and promoted in the video. its website sells the kony 2012

hallowing point road. the cause of the death is not known. officials say an autopsy may take several week. megan mcgrath has the latest. >> reporter: investigators block off the street and begin interviewing the family that matt discovery. news of what happened travels fast through this small mobile home community. a newborn baby has been found dead inside the trunk of a car. >> upon arrival by law enforcement, it was discovered that a fetus or newborn was located in the trunk of a vehicle. the fetus or newborn was found by the parents of the vehicle owner. the vehicle owner, a 32-year-old female, has been enter yaeeen id no charges have been filed. >> our hearts go out to the family members that located this infant. this is heart wrenching for our community and law enforcement. >> reporter: residents say it's a mystery. they haven't seen any pregnant women in the neighborhood lately. >> no one i've seen here

pregnant, no young kids or anything in here pregnant. i've been here a long time and i haven't seen any of them. >> you never know what people's going through, what's going through their minds. that's why it's important to stay connected and especially with a small group like this, look out for each other. >> reporter: in prince frederick, megan mcgrath, news 4. we're also learning more about the woman at the center of the investigation. pat collins will have a live report at 5:00. meanwhile, an infant also died under mysterious circumstance it is in prince william county virginia. a three month old was found unconscious yesterday at an unlicensed home daycare center in bristow. an autopsy is being performed to determine why the little girl died. police say for now they do not think it was foul play. they have, however, charged two caretakers with child endangerment for running an unlicensed and overcrowded daycare operation.

julie carey will have reaction at 5:00. a developing story in dallas where an american airlines plane had to return to the gate because of a reported fight involving flight attendants. american airlines issued a statement this afternoon confirming there was an altercation on board the plane this morning. the pilot asked to return to the gate and they had police officers meet the plane at the gate. two flight attendants were taken to the hospital, but it's still unclear exactly what happened. a passenger on the plane tweeted during the incident that one of the flight attendants said the plane had a mechanical problem and was going to crash after takeoff. turning to the weather now. p. >> yes, let's talk about that beautiful weather we've had. it was a cool start to today, but it's warmed up a bit out there. >> veronica johnson is live in the storm center. >> yeah, it's warmed up out there. but this is nothing like yesterday where we were into the mid-70s right across the area. yesterday the warmest day out of

weather coming up. there is powerful new evidence today that the economic recovery is gaining momentum. u.s. employers added more than a quarter of a million new jobs in february. the numbers quickly reached the campaign trail. steve handelsman reports. >> reporter: it's good news for american workers and for president obama. more hiring last month. >> so the economy is getting stronger. >> reporter: u.s. manufacturers like carmakers took on more workers. with car sales up. and three times as many workers got new jobs in health care and business services. 227,000 u.s. jobs added in february. and the unemployment rate stayed at 8.3% because experts said more americans went out to look for jobs. optimism is up. p. >> it gives me confidence there are better days ahead. >> reporter: campaigning in mississippi, mitt romney fired back that barack obama had promised unemployment below 8%. >> this president has not

president obama's remarks today came during a visit to the rolls-royce cross point facility near richmond, virginia. workers there make components for aircraft engines. leslie johnson is expected to report to federal prison today. she and her husband, former county executive jack johnson, were both found guilty in a corruption scheme. leslie johnson was sentenced to a year and a day for tampering with evidence. she admitted to flushing a $100,000 bribe check down the toilet and stuffing $80,000 in her bra. leslie johnson is expected to serve her term at a federal correctional facility in west virginia. jack johnson began serving his seven year sentence last month. give yourself a little extra time if you plan to take metro this weekend. both woodley park and cleveland park stations will be closed on the red line. free shuttle buses will run between the dupont circle and van ness stations to help you get around.

tomorrow, a little cooler. the winds have been gusting today. at least the afternoon up to around 30 miles per hour. that wind, it's dry wind for us. it's coming out of the northwest and the wind has been sustained today between about 10 and 15 miles per hour. but again, sunshine it is and the air is pretty dry. other neighborhoods up to the north, gaithersburg 54, down to the south, stafford county, 59, near 60 degrees. and then you have 64, our warm spot south and west of the area. that's where the higher temperatures will be tomorrow. just south and west of the area. we're going to see a warm up then for the second half of the weekend. for your overnight, 9:00, a starry sky, 43 your temperature. 40 by 11:00. sunset at 6:10 and it's up tomorrow at 6:26. in a couple minutes we'll talk about the springing forward that we're going to do as we head to daylight saving time. on the radar, it is dry right now up to the north, some snow.

repair a broken arm. by all accounts, he shouldn't be alive. >> i just remember bits and pieces of it. i remember the log trick clipping and seeing logs coming toward us and that's it. >> reporter: a log truck collides with a vehicle and loses its load. huge logs are catapulted across the median into oncoming traffic and one into hair dodge caravan. >> you can actually see where the log came through the front went shield, passed over the passenger seat and came in this direction. obviously a close call. but what many people may not realize is how close. just moments before, they had dropped their children off. >> i couldn't imagine them being with us. anybody in the back, i think it would have killed them. it was miracle. >> you never know when your life is going to be changed in an instant or your life is going to be taken. so life is pressure issues. >> reporter: definitely precious for joseph who has a few more days in the hospital but are

make a full recovery. his wife received 29 stitches to her head, but she's going to be just fine. last night was a long one he says. especially after looking at the pictures and video. joseph knows how close he came to death, even worse, what could have happened to his family. >> just by centimeters. it could have killed me. i guess i throwed my arm up when it come through the window. hit my wife first and then hit me. just straight through the window he. >> it's a total miracle and i know that god has a plan for all of us. and we are so very blessed. >> wow. they were lucky. >> yes, indeed. the crash is still under investigation. so far no charges. a family was kicked off a jetblue flight because of their daughter's temper tantrum. they had just finished their caribbean vacation last month. they boarded their jetblue flight from the turns and caicos

to boston when 2-year-old natalie did what toddlers are known to do. she threw a tantrum. the family got her under control, but the pilot announced that he was turning the plane around and kicking tell off, all because of the unruly toddler. >> we did what we were asked to do. we weren't belligerent, drunk, angry, screaming. we just were having a hard time struggling with our children. i said can we have them seated, can we go now, and she said the pilot's made a decision to turn the plane around. >> jetblue released a statement saying the family was not following instructions for a prolonged period of time, so they were removed for the safety of other customers and the crew. the family had to stay overnight at a hotel and rebook their flight. they were out about $2,000. well, this story has a lot of you taking on our nbc washington facebook page. we asked did the airline go too far or is will only fair to the rest of the passengers? >> susan cox writes, it depends on how long things were delayed. if it was a short period, who

it's time to turn the clocks forward. >> i'm going to codo it now because i know me. >> you'll be early tomorrow. >> right. that's right, we're talking about daylight saving time. this is the time of course when we get the longer light outside as we spring forward. . so don't forget to do that. saturday night, sunday morning, early sunday morning from 2:00 to 3:00 a.m. and of course when you spring forward, don't want to forget to change the batteries in your smoke or in your fire alarms. that's what a lot of folks do this time of year. so i like to think of it as summertime because that's when we get a chance to take advantage of that. 58 and sunshine out there right now. breezy. it will be a chilly evening where you'll need a jacket if you're going to be out. we drop to 40 degrees by 11:00 p.m. a nice starry sky for us. just coming off of our full fish moon.

35 to 34 degrees by early tomorrow morning. that means the outlying suburbs will be starting out probably in the upper 20s. 27 in mount erie and 29 in gaithersburg. 34 inside the beltway and 29 around waldorf. so pretty chilly start for us. something that we haven't seen in a little while. and then we bounce back tomorrow with a high about 47 to 51 degrees down to the south. but it's sunday, sunday is what i really like and especially next week. so here's the deal for next week. by sunday, we got a chance to warm up. next week, most of those days we'll see the warm air come into the area and almost every day we'll be in the 70s. so that warm air takes control of at least half of the country for next week. 49 saturday. 63 on sunday. you get the idea. sunday a better day if you want to do any gardening or anything outside. then for monday, we do have a slight chance for some showers coming into the area. i think that's going to be

when to hit that showroom. one strategy is to go at the end of the month when the salesperson is trying to make their monthly quotas. and may be more inclined to give you a deal. the another option, at the end of the model year. most manufacturers bring out new models toward the end of the summer, that's the time to get a deal on the previous model year cars. and always look for rebates incentives and promotions over the holiday weekends which may save you some additional money. >> our next question comes from henry. he wants to know who makes decisions about daylight saving time? >> we did check with the national institute of standards and technology which does act as the official timekeeper for the united states. it says that daylight saving time was formally introduced to the u.s. in 1918. today most of the country observes daylight saving time under federal regulation. the rules for daylight saving time changed in 2007 as an effort to reduce energy

a new ultra efficient light bulb is on the market, but it's pricey. 50 bucks. the bulb is made by phillips. the company says you'll save a long in the long run. they're designed to last ten years or more. and it uses only ten watts to light up a room. that's a fraction of what other bulbs use. phillips won a u.s. government competition known as the l prize to manufacture the bulbs which are supposed to be green and affordable. california pass or who predicted the world would come

to an end last year is now admitting his prophecy was wrong. 90-year-old harold camping posted a statement on line that says he has no evidence that the world will come to an end anytime soon and that he isn't interested in making predictions about the future. he spent millions over several years spreading the word that judgment day would come on may 21st of 2011. a rare painting worth $10,000 spent decades hanging on the wall of a teacher's lounge in michigan. the masterpiece is called two figures and landscape. it's by hugh have i lee smith. students bought the pictures for 150 bucks back in 1954. a graduate with an artistic eye recognized the painting back in october. it's now on loan to a museum in detroit. school officials say they aren't sure what they'll do with the painting once it returns. still ahead on news 4, we're now hearing from the parents of a toddler who swallowed dozens of magnets. what doctors that had to do to

an extra revealed more than a dozen magnets sitting if her stomach. craig melvin reports. >> reporter: little payton is back in the swing of things now. but a few days ago, she was close to dying. >> do you feel guilty? >> i do. >> how long will take stay with you? >> as long as i can see the scar. >> reporter: she started complaining about a stomach and i can. >> i really didn't think much of it until later that morning when she started to vomit. and we just thought it was the stomach flu. >> then she stopped eating. >> mother's instinct set in and i knew something was wrong. >> she's lying around, not her unusual spit fire that she always is. and so she just looked different to me. >> reporter: after the doctor ruled out a virus, she ordered x-rays. when she saw this, she thought someone's bracelet had gotten in the way of the machine. >> second x-ray came out still this ring like thing in her

abdomen. and we all stood around and looked at it and i said let's go to the e.r. >> reporter: doctored realized it wasn't a bracelet, but 37 tiny magnets slowly eating away at her intestines. she wallowed these, more than 3 dozen buckey balls clinging to their refrigerator. as the magnets started rolling through payton's body, they started connecting to each other, squeezing her stomach and small intestine together. >> we had to make an incision on to the stomach to retrieve the magnets from within the stomach and the upper intestine. >> see these magnets? they can make holes in your stomach. >> reporter: payton's predicament is not as rare as you might think. according to the consume are product safety commission, the number of reported cases of children swallowing magnets is on the rise from one in 2009 to
