shooting. good afternoon, everyone. >> it's our top story at 4:00 today,ed shooting happened this morning along connect cut avenue, in a normally quiet section of kensington. a man shot and killed a woman and then sped off. chris gordon is live on the scene with more details on the suspect. chris? >> reporter: police are looking for a man. we want to show you his picture. the suspect is phillip gilberti. 6'1", 240 to 250 pounds. last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with black slacks. he has black slicked hair. there was a stayaway order that his ex-wife got in which she told the court, he said, if i catch you with with another man, i will kill you both. today, this is how the shooting happened along connecticut

avenue. it happened about 9:39, police got a number of calls, from the public saying that a woman had been shot and pushed out of a van. silver or gray minivan along connecticut avenue in the southbound lane just before knowles. there was some kind of a fight, and that a woman was shot and was killed. this is how montgomery county police chief thomas major describes the situation as witnesses related it to police. >> what the witnesses said was that the victim was attempting to get out of the car, the suspect pulled her back in. shot her, and pushed her out. and then took off at a high rate of speed. >> we are standing at the kensington shell station. it was with ten years ago the d.c. snipers struck here killing a woman who was vacuuming her

minivan. the manager said when he saw this, it opened old wounds. traffic is back to normal now. for a couple hours, it wasn't moving north or south. the woman's body has been removed we are not giving you her identity. there is a manhunt. she was found here in the street shot in the back of the head bear foot. that's the latest from kensington, maryland back to you in the studio. a 5-month-old baby boy has been reunited with his parents after a man carjacked the suv with the baby inside. it all started before 8:00 this morning at a home on o the 3800 block of suitland road.

the parents were with trying to strap the child into the car seat when a man jumped inside their suv and took off. police found the abandoned car about a while away from the home. the baby was inside uninjured. >> the most frightening thing i ever experienced. probably not compared to what my sister and brother-in-law experienced. we bless god for the safe return of the baby. but for the grace of god we have our nephew, my sister has her son back. if god had not shown his favor on us, this could have a different result. we're thankful to the police, and we're going to go home and enjoy our nephew right now. >> definitely a happy ending following a scare for that family. the man who set several fires including one injuring several d.c. firefighters could spend the next few decades behind bars. maurice was sentenced to 25

years in prison. he admitted to starting five fires in the d.c. metro area over a five-year period. a fire last april left police with serious injuries. darcie spencer will have reaction on today's sentencing coming up today at 5:00. jury deliberations could begin later today in the wrongful death case against virginia tech. the families of two of them claimed their children may have survived if the school had notified students earlier. they want officials to be held accountable. earlier today, the integrity of charles staiger was the focus. as the state sought to establish he didn't try to cover up mistakes. it will be up to the jury of seven to decide. the terrible shooting rampage in afghanistan will note change his commitment to bring u.s. forces home in a

this is in louisiana, where they had heavy rain yesterday. flash flooding down there, the high floodwaters forced a lot of people out their home. and that's not the only part of the country that's dealing with crazy weather in the pacific northwest. they have snow. snoqualmie summit in washington, they had several inches of snow, and they had to put chains on their tires for the cars and trucks. a couple inches of snow on those ice covered roads. big backups yesterday with some of the vehicles up there just trying to get around during the afternoon rush. winter still hanging on in the pacific northwest, long gone around here. as far as our temperatures go this week, tomorrow we're going to see highs once again back up around 80 degrees, a large part of the country. wichita, down toward dallas/texas, warm air, same thing for thursday, you're not going to see this bubble shrink at all this week.

even on saturday, the bubble is going to stay high with very, very high temperatures and warm spring air taking hold everywhere east of the rockies. 80 degrees the temperature still outside, still again breezy to gusty, the wind gusting up to 25 miles per hour. the wind settles down by 7:00 or 8:00, you'll notice the clouds. those will be rolling out of here if you're going to be out late, starting out early tomorrow mourning. already mild with 56 to 55 degrees, 5:00 to 7:00 a.m. some of our cooler spots look at fredericksburg to start the day. we're right back where we were today, up into the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. dinkts for tomorrow, a lot of sunshine, doesn't look like we're going to have any chance of showers or storms tomorrow. we stay quiet on thursday too. as we hit 80, we're going to sigh a few more clouds across the area. the clouds could trigger a

of jail. amy robach reports. >> reporter: peter gleason, attorney for anna christina lashed out against the legal system monday. >> i really, truly, honestly in my heart, feel she is being railroaded by the system. >> reporter: she's been jailed at rikers island since her february 22 bend arrest on one count of promoting prostitution in the third degree. she's been unable to make bail of $2 million. now, in an effort to help his client make that bail. gleason has offered up his posh $2.5 million loft as a place for her to serve under house arrest. >> i feel so comfortable giving them access to my place, i want them to move in with with me. >> reporter: that would include her four children and current husband kelvin gore.

he was seen briefly outside the courthouse on monday. >> no comment. the judge has set a bail hearing for thursday. prosecutors have called gleason's proposal unethical. some legal experts say that's not the point. >> forget about the ethical question, just decide the simple bail question. is she a flight risk? why should we let him put up his apartment and say that she will go to it? she could skip out on him as easy as she could skip out on the court. >> monday's court appearance also presented a stark contrast to the image of the millionaire madam. gleason argued his client is not a millionaire. in fact he told the judge, she doesn't have two nickels to rub together. >> and the judge has promised a decision on the house arrest proposal tomorrow. anna christina has pleaded not guilty. if she's convicted she faces up to seven years behind bars. final check on our forecapacity now.

weather here this evening. overnight lows, 48 degrees in frederick and mt. airy, 50 in gaithersburg, montgomery county, 54 in fredericksburg. during the overnight period it's going to be closer to what our average high temperature is for the day. i expect skies to clear out by then. tomorrow morning we might have a few high clouds around the area. 75 in frederick. other locations to getting up to 77 to 80 degrees, from d.c. down to the south, your cooler locations will be right near the water. around easton, cambridge, annapolis, a little bit of wind. maybe another great day for heading out on the water or flying a kite. i like the idea of heading out on the water. folks have been asking. the pollen, how long is the count going to stay high? i think it's going to stay high for the next couple day, in part because of these very high temperatures. the warmth, the early spring warmth for us.
