mountains. but you folks out into the shenandoah valley, the mountains of west virginia, those showers and thundershowers are likely only about two or three hours away. if they made it long enough to get all the way to washington, they'd be here about 4:00 in the morning. so just sort of file that away. might have a predawn sprinkle but that's about it. by 8:00 a.m. just foggy and 56. then breaking out into some sunshine and into the 70s again tomorrow. what about the rest of the week, chris? we'll talk about that coming up. >> see you later, chuck. thank you very much. culpeper county sheriff scott jenkins says he has nothing to hide when it comes to a conviction that was recently vacated in a murder that goes way back to 1996. jenkins spoke for about 20 minutes at a public town hall in cu culpeper today. michael hash served 12 years in prison for the murder of thelma scoggins. but he was released from jail last week. in february a federal judge condemned police and prosecutors for outrageous misconduct in the case. they're accused of concealing a plea deal with another man

20 police officers were hurt and more than 50 people were arrested after riots broke out during a soccer match in greece today. firefighters had to be called in after some unruly fans set part of the stands on fire. the violence forced the game to be delayed and then canceled altogether. there are also reports that police found molotov cocktails, firecrackers, and knives during the altercation. well, tensions are running high in central florida as prosecutors decide whether to charge a man in the shooting death of an unarmed teenager. >> you think he's yelling help? >> yes. there was gunshots. >> you just heard gunshots? >> yes.

light breeze now out of the south averaging only seven miles per hour. no rain in and around the city of washington today. but there were showers, as we showed you on radar at the earlier show tonight. out across parts of the shenandoah valley, it rained just to the west. for now all is quiet on your sunday night. temperatures are extraordinarily mild. upper 50s to near 60 our average high temperature this time of the year is 56. so these are some unusually mild numbers. and the mild air not necessarily a good thing for the cherry blossoms. the peaks are going to be now really starting tomorrow the 19th up to about the 25th of march. peak is defined as having at least 70% of the blossoms out at any one given time. but the warmth, near 80 degrees again for several days this week. the warmth may actually shorten the peak blooming period. so this -- literally this week may be just about it. last year we were able to keep the blossoms on for 14 to 17 days because of the real chilly

mornings. that's not going to be the case this time. now, there's another round of showers and thunderstorms now out across parts of northwestern west virginia, petersburg, west virginia. there's morgantown. here's frostburg, maryland. this is way out to our west. but they are inching their way ever eastbound. so about three hours from now they'll be not too terribly far to the west of winchester, virginia. but they're going to be fading out as they come ever eastward. so you may not get too much in the way of rain chances in winchester, and i don't think we have much if anything in the way of a real chance of getting those showers all the way in the metro washington. but nonetheless, some showers out there for you this evening. again, most of that falling apart tonight. but we'll have a little increased chance for some showers around tomorrow afternoon and another little chance coming up on tuesday. good news is there won't be the heavy thunderstorms, the heavy rain or high winds. that would also mean certain trouble for the blossoms. so overnight tonight another cloudy night. mild again. start-off temperatures upper 40s to mid 50s. and watch out again tomorrow morning for some locally dense fog and a chance for a few showers, especially out west of
