we begin with breaking news in northern virginia. right now officers at a home in manassas, at 9:30 tonight, a police officer on his way to help out a fellow officer when he crashed into two cars. the impact of the crash caused all three vehicles to smash into a home on grant avenue. the officer has burns to his face and arms after his airbag deployed. two others taken to the hospital. the fire department is making sure that the structure of the house is safe. now to the latest on trayvon martin. tonight people are rallying by the hundreds and taking to social media by the thousand demanding justice. the fbi and justice department continue to investigate the teenager's death. shooter george zimmerman in hiding. still free under florida's controversial stand your ground law. an internet petition calling for zimmerman's arrest has more than 1.5 million signatures. politicians, mitt romney and

rick santorum are calling martin's death a tragedy so is president obama who talked about how the case is affecting him personally. >> and when i think about this boy, i think about my own kids. you know if i had a son he would look like trayvon. >> congress showed their support for trayvon and his family. on the steps of the capitol hill. live at freedom plaza, with more on that. >> reporter: thousand expected to converge on freedom plaza tomorrow between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., paying tribute to trayvon martin. some demanding justice. people we walked to said they want to see justice for trayvon martin. >> what do we want? >> jis tustice. >> reporter: they're angry and fed up. that george zimmerman is a free man after fatally shooting

17-year-old trayvon martin, a month ago in sanford, florida. this man says the teen was racially profiled and murdered. >> george zimmerman got it wrong when he stereotyped trayvon martin the he comes from a good family. he was innocent. passing through a gated community. >> reporter: walking back to his dad's house from a convenience store, hoody and jeans, holding skittles and iced tea. george zimmerman was concerned about break-ins, called 911, said trayvon looks suspicious and fatally shot the teen, claiming self defense. police didn't arrest him. >> when i first heard about it i was sick to my stomach. just to kill him like that. it's like it was premeditated. >> children hold candles, skits and wear hoods, commemorating the teen's life. they won't stop protesting until zimmerman is behind bars. >> the most disappointing

thing -- >> reporter: well the justice department along with the fbi continue to investigate this case. live here in front of freedom plaza, northwest d.c., news 4. >> as shamari mentioned rallies planned tomorrow for trayvon martin. the one in northwest d.c., happening downtown freedom plaza, 2:00 to 4:00. a stolen car burst into flames this morning at chevy chase circle. police officers frantically fried to save the four teenagers inside. jackie benson is at the scene of the crash now with more on this. jackie. >> reporter: jim, what happened here is one of the reasons parents tell their teenagers, be careful who you get in the car with. >> i can't even talk. word can't describe right now. >> for cousins, emmanuel nelson

and kayre nelson getting into the back seat of the echo cost them their lives. at 1:30 the car burst into flames after a collision with a tree at chevy chase circumstance. moments earlier a police officer ran the vehicle's license plate and discovered it was stolen. police say the toyota began speeding toward the circle with police cruisers. >> they were beautiful. good grades. good students. everything. just good kids. good, genuine kids. >> emmanuel nelson a member of the football team at high school in the district. natalie randolph is the coach. >> he was awesome. gregarious, full of life. made jokes, smart. he was really smart. >> not far away, maxine miller wept tears of gratitude. her 18-year-old grandson, rico richardson the front seat passenger survived. he was pulled from the burn vehicle boy a montgomery county police officer who was himself injured.

>> he put his life on the line for my grandson. and for the other boy. and he was frying trying to sav rest, but he couldn't. you know? >> reporter: the driver of the car, 16-year-old reynard osman, remains hospitalized with life threating injuries. jackie benson, news 4. >> thank you, jackie. a freshman at syracuse university, upstate new york, found dead today in her dorm room. her name was courtenay nash and lived in maclean, virginia. police say her death does not apore to be suspicious. majoring in economics. >> cell phone video of a fight between a student and parent at howard county went viral. and it started over french fries. this is long reach high school in columbia on wednesday. this video shows a football player trying to defend himself

after being attacked by a parent who showed up on campus to settle a dispute. school officials say this stemmed over french fries thrown in the cafeteria. the video has received over 800,000 views. on the video blog worldstarhiphop.com. tonight, students among those helping the schooliry claim its positive image. >> most of the time when people say, did you see that on youtube or something, you say, whatever. you fry and highlight the better things. we say did you see the basketball game this weekend, double evertime win. >> everything that happens here will blow over at some point. like we are getting over it. we are waiting for everyone else. >> school officials say the man's daughter was charged with assault on another student. authorities anticipate, filing charges against the father. the student who threw the punch will not face charges. >> wild weather in states to the west of us. it is on its way here, doug, that's right? >> wild weather. this storm has the a history of severe weather and big time snows, four feet of snow in arizona. major flooding in parts of

texas. today tornados. one of the tornados happening just outside louisville, kentucky. south and east. the storm damaged several homes there. overturned vehicles. also put 12,000 people without power. the good news here was, no reports of any deaths or injuries in kentucky. done to the south. it waus another tornado. three in alabama. one in pike county. destroyed a few homes. sent trees tumbling down. and put workers to work all day long trying to restore power unthat part of the area. take a look at the radar right now. we'll show you where the rain is. once again the bigger view showing the storm right over saint louis. and the thunderstorm activity, all the way down from the great lakes. down towards the gulf coast states. as we zoom on in here. we are already starting to see some showers and thunderstorm active team just to the south of washington. but even more out here towards west virginia and southwestern portions of virginia. i will show you when the storms move our way and what you can expect when you wake up coming up in ape f few minutes. >> the rain is not here yet.

something beautiful on this friday night. the tidal basin, cherry blossoms in peak bloom. one of the last times you will see tries with full flowers this year. the storm coming through will probably blow off all the flowers. admirers from all over the world are frying to get a final look at them. and events for the centennial sell bragcelebration will go on and next few weeks. should be easier to get to the festival. metro is not planning any track work this weekend. the man who killed a former intern of a d.c. count still member is going to prison for more than 30 years. his name is amare cotton. today sentenced for killing 18-year-old alante sutton two years ago. those two got into a fight because sutton refused to give cotton's girlfriend a ride to work. sutton's body was found in the woods off newcomb street on mother's day, 2010. sutton was an intern for councilman michael brown. the man convicted of killing a d.c. strip club bouncer is

going to spend an additional 35 years in prison for murder. today, a d.c. judge added the time to vasily grary's sentence. serving a 30 year sentence for arson and assault. police say grary poured gasoline on vladamir djoravic. he was a bouncer. the man was disgruntled after he was kukd oicked out of the club taking pictures. the man suffered burns and died 2 1/2 years later. >> the army staff sergeant accused in the afghan shooting rampage has been charged with murder. 17 counts of premeditated murder brought against robert bales, in a military court. the charges include six counts off tempted murder. bales could face the death penalty. his attorney is questioning whether the government has a case. >> there was no crime scene.

there is no -- no dna. there is no ballistics that we know of. in most cases there is a crime scene, there is ballistics, csi, there is, confessions, which there isn't in this case. it is going to be interesting how the government proves this case. >> military officials say there is plenty of evidence. right now bales' attorney is laying the ground work for post-traumatic stress defense. military lawyers have to first prove his client was responsible. >> pope benedict xvi in north america now. his first ever trip to mexico. he got a warm welcome from president felipe caulderon and large crowd. the pope called on the country to overcome the greed for money which he says contributed to mexico's drug violence. mexico ilix mix -- from there the pope will go to cuba on monday. >> decision 2012. voters irmainland will start casting ballots this weekend.

then this line right in here, the one that is closest to our region. see a couple storms. fredericksburg. another, luray, petersberg, west virginia. this line will continue to increase uncuff rakrecrease in . storms around washington. 1:00, 2:00, another band. stronger bands begin to make their way through tomorrow. early tomorrow morning. the cold front moves on through. at 5:00 tomorrow afternoon. seeing the rain. the chance for a strong thunderstorm or two. i do not think we will see severe weather here. that's the good news. but the best chance of strong storms, from washington, just down to the south. the storm moves done to the south. on, son sunday. and, looking a little better now. maybe 1/2 inch, inch and a half of rain. we'll see breaks in the rain. not an all day rain. either day. a lit less than the way of rain, on sunday. that's god neod news. not an entire washout. monday, we dry out. pretty nice to start off next week.
