shots fired around 12:30 this morning. they found a man shot to death when police arrived. no gunman has been identified and we don't know what led to the shooting. a mile from that first scene, three others injured in a triple shooting that stemmed from a fight. on the 6700 block of northwest drive. investigators say the gunman and victims got into a fight. things escalated when one man left and returned with the gun. he opened fire, hitting three people and ran, all three victims are expected to be okay. but police have not made any arrests yesterday. the reverend al sharpton and reverend jesse jackson will join hundreds at a rally today in the response to the deadly shooting of trayvon martin. they are calling for the arrest of george zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who shot trayvon martin last month in self-defense. turns out martin was not armed and many believe the shooting was racially motivated. the funeral director who oversaw the teen's burial did not seen

signs of a fight on martin's body. an arlington man accused of attacking a couple in a fight over a taxi. the man and woman were trying to get a cab outside the verizon center wednesday night at the van halen concert when police say brian bradley and three friends tried to push them out of the way. the woman called 911 and tried to help her husband, but then police say the violence escalated. >> when he struck her, she fell back, he knocked her semi conscious, her body was going limp, and we believe additional injuries were caused to her brain at that point and skull when she hit the head on the sidewalk. >> the woman taken to the hospital and later released. >> we caught up with bradley at court, but he refused to be intervi interviewed. mitt romney leading challenger rick santorum days before voters head to the polls in wisconsin. a new poll shows the former massachusetts governor has the

support of 40% of likely voters. santorum trails by 7%. ron paul and newt gingrich, both trail by double digits, political bun at this times say wisconsin could ressam for um's last chance to keep romney from securing the nomination. romney setting his sights on president obama. he spoke to students at lawrence university yesterday and completely ignored his challengers, making no mention of the other candidates. instead, he went after the president. calling his economic strategy a bust. >> out of touch liberals like barack obama say they want a strong economy. but they really don't like businesses very much. but the economy is simply the product of all of the nation's businesses added together. so -- so it's like saying you love omelets but you don't like eggs. >> romney has a busy day planned today. he is going to attend four campaign events across wisconsin. rick santorum's camp not giving

etch-a-sketch is launching a new political themed ad after being used as an alogy by a romney aide. they poke fun at politics with lines like, "etch-a-sketch is a lot like politics. there are a lot of gray areas. and another was we have a left knob and right knob for both political parties, and together we can do loop de loops. it will appear on facebook and twitter, the ad campaign. most vocal opponents of a new casino in prince georges county. the casino in anne arundel county says a neighboring casino would steal mothers. the proposed prince georges county casino is part of a bill which would also allow table games in maryland casinos. the bill has passed the senate and is being debated in the house of delegates. unemployment in our area hit a plateau last month after a

noticeable drop in january. virginia was the only state to see a change with jobless rates dropping to 5.7% in february, compared to 5.8% in january. both maryland and d.c. stayed the same. 6.5% and 9.9% unemployment respectively. and nevada had the highest rate of unemployment at more than 12% and north dakota has the lowest at nearly 3%. it appears we spent more money in february which helped wall street close with its best first quarter since 1998. the dou the dow gained 8%, and the nasdaq had its best quarter since 1991. consumer spending rose in february at the fastest rate in seven months, even though income stayed flat.

the food and drug administration has rejected a proposed ban on products containing the chemical bpa. the national products council says bpa affects development and can cause cancer. but the fda says there needs to be more studies on affects on human, as most tests are on humans. bpa is a sealant used on plastic containers. some companies like trader joe's and whole foods have already removed the product. keep a close watch on credit card statements. a major security breach affects

millions of customers. someone hacked global payments. the company tracks credit transactions for stores. global payments said it detected the breach earlier this month but cannot trace when it happened. visa and master card say they have notified customers about the breach. contact your bank immediately if you see suspicious charges on your account. and the popular twitter application tweet deck back online after being shut down a few hours friday night. tr twitter suspended access after a tweeter said that they could access accounts that he did not have access to. a court decision gives virginia tech vindication for its reaction to the 2007 massacre. a court issued that they gave timely warnings. it overturned a $55,000 fine. federal education officials accused the school of waiting too long of sending out an

e-mail alerting students and staff. next month will mark five years passed since the shooting. a new documentary that takes a look at bullying is out now, but most likely not playing at a theater near up it received an "r" rating from the motion picture association for strong language. after tense debate, the film was released unrated. students are taking the issue into their own hands. yesterday, these kids put on a flash mob near the capitol to help raise attention to the issue. >> we are doing this to stop bullying. >> what this film brings to the table is opportunity for kids to see kids treating -- how kids treat kids and i think that's a real eye opener. >> right now, the movie is only playing in new york and los angeles. the student producing the movie

the big buck. >> thank you, chuck. miami heat star dwyane wade said he was playing with a heavy heart against toronto after his nephew was shot in chicago. his nephew underwent surgery and is expected to recover. a violent evening in chicago where 2 people killed and 11 injured in the span of 6 hours thursday night. wade's world has made curbing gun violence a top priority for years now. more trouble for former san diego chargers quarterback ryan leaf. he was arrested on burglary and drug possession charges. police have not released too many details of his arrest, but he was freed on bond and is expected to make a court appearance on monday. leaf has struggled with drug problems suns his time in the nfl and is considered one of the biggest draft busts in league history. in 2010, he pleaded guilty to eight felony drug charges and

million jackpot. >> that will be hard. today, civil rights leaders host a rally in sanford, florida, for trayvon martin. the 17-year-old was killed by neighborhood watch captain george zimmerman. reverend al sharpton and reverend jesse jackson expected at today's rally. mitt romney and rick santorum making their final push before tuesday's primary in wisconsin. it could determine if santorum stays in the race. romney leads santorum by 7%. d.c. is one step closer to having medical marijuana available for patients. six companies can register for permits to grow plants. news 4 i-team reporter has followed this for months and has the story. >> reporter: it's a controversial plan sparking plenty of passion and medical marijuana is coming to d.c. >> i think it's fair for the people who applied for it.

gilberti, killed her and then turned the gun on himself. her family says he shouldn't have been leased in the first place. >> he was going to be put away for quite some time. she told me that she felt happy sunday. we spent the day together. >> mcguire's mother says a computer glitch allowed gilberti to go free. the district court system was down, so the judge may not have had access to the man's previous crimes. calling for stronger laws against domestic violence offenders. state administrators lied dozens of times to a grand jury about the actions of former football coach jerry sandusky, according to prosecutors. pennsylvania's attorney general filed the report that listed 33 statements from former athletic director tim curly and vise

president gary schultz during their testimony in 2011. many downplayed the seriousness of the report they received that sandusky showered with a young boy. both men are fighting perjury charges. the lawyer for a u.s. soldier accused of going on a shooting rampage in afghanistan is accusing the u.s. government of hiding evidence. robert bales is excused of killing 17 afghan civilians earlier this month. the u.s. government is not giving the cooperation promised. he needs access to witness interviews and medical records. the government delayed his visit to an afghan hospital where possible witnesses were staying. >> we were told by the prosecutors to come back the next day. which is fine. you know, we went along with that, and we went back the next day, and they had all been released from the hospital and been scattered throughout afghanistan. >> if convicted, bales could

face the death penalty. new details on 911 victims thrown away. the pentagon released conversations in the time frame of 2002 about the cream malted remains about people killed in the terror attacks. burial at sea was suggested for more than 1,300 unidentifiable fragments of remains. it was later decided they were medical waste and incinerated. the newly released documents, part of an investigation into problems at the mortuary. new evidence in the disappearance of a utah woman that is raising questions why her husband was never considered a suspect. files show authorities found flood in the family home of susan powell. evidence shows powell left a note with her will that said she did not trust her husband. she disappeared in 2009. her husband, josh powell killed himself and the husband's two young sons earlier this year by setting his house on fire. josh powell filed to get life

insurance policies on susan powell right before she disappeared. those policies were worth more than $1 million. passengers on the jetblue flight involving a pilot's mid air meltdown will be receiving refunds. not only will passengers get a full refund for their one-way ticket. they will get a voucher for twice the value of their original ticket. earlier this week, captain clayton osbon was creaming and ranting aboard a flight from new york to las vegas. passengers restrained him while the flight made an emergency landing in texas. osbon has been charged and faces up to 20 years in prison. a whiz kid in the district will compete in the national geography bee in may. >> the winner, matt wilson. 100 bucks. congratulations. >> that is seventh grader matt

we're going to miss you, joe. academy award winning actor gary sneis has postponed an appearance. he was in a crash near the merial bridge. he was in town to visit service members and families. he was supposed to be in martinsville, virginia, for a triple amputee veteran fund-raiser. he is not seriously hurt. no word yet if he'll cancel an appearan appearance as the grand marshal at a nascar race. the fiery political commentator was fired yesterday. there were multiple reports of clashes between olbermann and management. a current tv spokesman says olbermann was fired for breach of contract after several unauthorized absences.

former new york governor eliot spitzer has replaced him on the current tv lineup. the denver tv anchor who was bitten by a dog live on the air is returning to work soon. kyle dyer of kusa was bitten in the face by an 85 pound argentine mastiff last month he was appearing with ab owner and a firefighter who rescued the dog from an icy pond. she had to get 90 stitches. she plans to start working again monday. she called it an accident and said she is glad the dog is back home. drivers will soon feel relief on the fairfax county parkway. right now, much of the is a rough ride. the parkway has tons of potholes and bumpy spots. vdot plans to pave 24 of the road's 32 miles. repairs start next month and stretch from route 7 in herndon.
