rosalynn. jackie? >> reporter: for years, act college has been training students to become medical assistants, dental assistants. health care professionals. tonight, 500 plus students are saying what are we going to do? >> for profit atc college, in alexandria and manassas has been in business 24 years. it abruptly closed its doors this morning. two weeks before she was set to graduate with credits she hoped to take to norfolk state in the fall. >> hoping to go to act college tomorrow and get answers. two more weeks. not only me, seven more students had two more weeks. >> reporter: she is an instructor at act's manassas campus and says fact ulty is ow pay checks. >> you have to have options for students or people that don't feel they fit into the university setting.

>> reporter: no one answered our knock at act's administrative offices. the outer office was stocked with pamphlets and framed mission statement. mimi, student at act, says the closing is like a slap in the face. >> i have to find a job. when i go to the job when they ask for the kred icredits, i di have them. students have been reaching out to everyone including federal and state government, trying to get some help. efforts to reach act's president, were unsuccessful. tonight. reporting from rosalynn, jackie benson. news 4. >> thank you. an all-clear in tacoma park, maryland. police officers shut down near 15th and elson place. an officer thought someone was firing shots at his cruiser. however after a search, investigators found no physical evidence that any one had fired a gun. >> people living in dupont circle are searching for solutions to the parking problems in their neighborhood.

an 80-year-old woman managed to land an airplane with her pilot, husband dying by her side. it happened on monday unnortheastern wisconsin. the woman's husband piloting the twin engine cessna. he had a heart attack the they were six miles from the airport. the plane was running out of fuel. that's when the woman radioed for help. other pilots went up and told her what to do. >> she was confident. she wanted to know if i was con -- confident in her confidence. >> aside from brutz bruises, thn is expected to be fine. her husband did survive the heart attack. >> the fred rick count sheriff's

office will pay the owners of a dock they shot. shot by a deputy trying to serve a civil warrant. he said the dog was aggressiv y aggressively. a jury disagreed and ruled the deputy violated the couple's rights. >> tonight proof what many have believed for years. coyotesen arlington county. one right there. a camera captured this video of a coyote. those areas are not native to virginia or the area. experts say they're probably here to stay. coyotes tend to be scarred of people. pets are a different story. coyotes feed on animals size of rabbits. raccoons and small dogs. >> former vice presidential candidate sarah palin defended jessica simpson lashing out against those criticizing simpson's weight. the pregnant, 5'3" singer became a target of criticism after

doug is here with more about the tornados out west, and our weather here. >> yeah, this pattern normally, that kind of a storm would make its way our way. going to be completely different now. if this was march, those storms would be moving our way. now we are in april. the pattern shifted and more air from canada. that's what is going to stop the storms. first off, show you how are we are out there right now. this is not canadian air when you step outside. beautiful out there right now. temperature at 60 degrees. right now at the airport. simply gorgeous. tonight very nice night. you saw the moon out there little bit earlier. jupiter, venus. off in the distance. mars by the moon tonight. really spectacular. high temperature today. 73 degrees. low this morning of 42. so, temperature departure there, 31 degrees. that's how, how much we rose during the day with all the sunshine. dry atmosphere. speaking of the atmosphere. 3 1/2 below average as far as rainfall is concerned.
