deputies heard the deadly shots being fired. the sheriff's office tells us deputies found a man shot to death before 9:00 tonight. lying behind a building in the 200 block of kent avenue. deputies heard multiple shots fired and canvassed the area. but they found no apparent gunman by the time they reach the victim. they have not identified the victim yet and the search for suspects continues. now to the intrigue and drama that rivals that of any soap opera. >> drama at an area church. the faithful are fired up their pass s to pastor has been fired. playing out in real life. a pass s to jackie benson join us from landover. jackie. >> reporter: doreen, the development in the battle for the soul of this church is a shocker. it was supposed to be wednesday night, bible study.

include $300 million to help offset the costs of the dulles metro rail project. that money is coming from increases on the dulles toll road. democrats say tolls are going to double. the bunt now goes to governor bob mcdonald for amendments. a doomsday clock is counting down. the clock unveiled in annapolis today. counting down to july 1. that's when half a billion dollars in budget cuts will take effect. jobs, education funding, and cost of living raise for workers are all on the chopping block. the only saving grace would be if maryland lawmakers hold a special session to change the budget. >> late today be learned that music legend dick clark has died. generations of americans welcomed him into our homes for five decades. angie goff with more on tributes in honor of a legend. angie? >> doreen, television legend

dick clark died in a santa monica hospital from a massive heart attack. he was 82. tonight, friends, family and stars remember an american original. >> live from philadelphia. >> he once famously said music is the sound track of your life. for more than five decades. dick clark used music to move so many. america's oldest teenager appeared ageless s through the more than 30 years of hosting american bandstand and beyond. >> it's been the graeatest fantasy of my life. working 35 years in television. my first love. the bandstand made it all possible. >> reporter: from the beginning music was his passion, scoring his first job in radio after graduating from syracuse university. >> music really is one of the three most important things in our lives. >> clark just as important to music. helping launch countless careers. ♪ stop in the name of love >> from the supremes to a young michael jackston the he created american music awards. produced the golden globes.

and 40 years ago started the biggest party in the nation. clark hosted the countdown until 2004 when he had a sudden stroke. he spent more than a month the hospital. this past january, he co-hosted the celebration with ryan seacrest. tonight, the american idol host paid tribute to his mentor. >> i know that he is in ape better place. >> reporter: as the show goes on. fans across the country continue to mourn the loss of a television icon. flowers placed by his hollywood star, online, an outpouring of love from strangers and famous friends. >> clark, who had a history of heart disease is survived by his wife and three children. tonight, the first family is reacting to the sad news. president obama said in a statement, in part, michelle and are saddened to hear about the passing of dick clark. he reshaped the television landscape forever. more important than his ground breaking achiefme ing ing achiee

two men from tennessee are

suing the abc reality show "the bachelor" for alleged racial discrimination. class action lawsuit filed on behalf of the two men today. they say producers treated them unfairly when they tried out to become the bachelor last year because they are black. their attorneys say the show may have also discriminated against hundreds of other minority candidates, and that over 23 combined seasons, neither show has had a main bachelor or bachelorette of color. florida woman tonight says she hit the gas instead of the brakes and wound up driving through the grocery store. police say the 76-year-old woman was pulling up to a stop sign when she accidentally accelerated and crashed through the store's front doors. ten people were hurt in this accident, but no one was kid. a baby was hit. but the child is expected to be okay. the driver is charged with careless driving. >> unusual pets are ruffling feathers in avington, maryland,

right now. pety, the owner has eight peacocks. hartford county limits people to five peacocks per property. any bird under 6 months old is not included in the law's limit. hard to keep pety at home as he flies from roof to roof. yikes. county law prevents petey's owners from caging the peacocks because the houses are so class s together. the neighbors as you might imagine are none too pleased. one, said it is tough to get any sleep. >> first it was pretty. it was really unique. and i took pictures. but i get up at 5:00 a.m. it's not pretty anymore. >> people stay out of my business my birds would be penned. they didn't. zoning came and said release the birds. >> oh, my. >> the county considers the peacocks domestic animals. and the local government its considering changing the law that would allow homeowners to
