police have now identified that man as 19-year-old michael davis, and they're now investigating whether he was involved in three other attacks. in the same neighborhood. one resulted in the death of a tourist. we'll have much more on this story coming up at 5:00 as we learn more about the arrest and the most recent victim, who is still hospitalized. the all-clear has been given in london and everything is back to normal now following a bomb scare earlier today.

a man claiming to have a bomb ran into a building in downtown london saying he was going to blow himself up. he then barricaded himself on the fifth floor and started throwing office equipment out of the window. his threats resulted in thousands of people being evacuated. police were called in, and after about three hours that man was taken into custody. he did not have a bomb. the shuttle "enterprise" took center stage up and down the east coast today as it moved to its new home in the big apple. the shuttle took a low-altitude tour around some of new york's biggest landmarks before touching down at jfk airport. it arrives atop a jumbo 747. the same one that brought shuttle "discovery" to dulles last week. "enterprise" didn't attract the swarms of people that lined the streets for "discovery," but a modest crowd did gather near dulles to see with the enterprises" final flight and to bid farewell to the shuttle. among them some folks who grew up with the shuttle program and some who wanted their kids to see a little piece of history.

he is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old trayvon martin. he maintains he shot martin in self-defense. zimmerman was not in court today for the hearing. the star witness in the trial of former presidential candidate john edwards just left the witness stand. edwards' former aide andrew young was given immunity in exchange for his testimony. his former boss is accused of illegally using campaign funds to cover up an affair. jay gray has the latest from the federal courthouse in greensboro, north carolina. >> reporter: during his fifth day of testimony andrew young told a jury the last time he met with john edwards he feared for his life. edwards' attorney abby lowell pressed young about that meeting in the carolina backwoods and the sex tape featuring the presidential contender and his mistress, rielle hunter, asking him, "were you afraid there was a gun or tape recorder?" young answered, "both occurred to me." during two days of pointed cross-examination, the edwards defense team has portrayed his former confidant, aide, and good

friend as a liar fueled by greed. >> the defense was able to once again turn this from the trial of john edwards into the trial of andrew young. >> reporter: defense attorneys say it was young that orchestrated donations to hide edwards' mistress and her pregnancy but instead kept much of the money for himself. young has admitted that he and his family along with hunter took trips to disney and legoland, went skiing in aspen and vacationed in mexico. young also said he used $200,000 to pay for a pool and home audio system. >> instead of this money, the wealthy donors' money, going to rielle hunter, this money in essence stayed with andrew young. and john edwards knew almost nothing about it. >> reporter: young finished his week of testimony shortly after lunch. after a short redirect by prosecutors, they called his wife, sherry, to the stand. now, sherry young has been cast as the person in charge of the family's finances and should help piece together a significant money trail in this

high-profile case. in greensboro, north carolina i'm jay gray, news 4. police have gone public with the last known image of kelly bordeaux, a fort bragg soldier who vanished in north carolina two weeks ago. the 23-year-old married army medic was last seen at a karaoke bar with a convicted sex offender. that man told investigators he gave bordeaux a ride home. he's in jail on an unrelated charge. he's not been named a suspect in the case. police say bordeaux took the picture of herself on her iphone just hours before she vanished. they're not saying how they got the picture, only that the picture holds important clues. >> this photo is a true and accurate depiction of how she was dressed and what she would have looked like. >> i mean, i want my wife back safe. i want her back. >> police aren't saying much about the, very only that most of their detective work leads them back to the wooded areas near the bar. outside right now it's looking pretty nice, but a

foul when some fan behavior left a little boy in tears at a baseball game in texas. the rangers against the yankees. 3-year-old cameron shores was heartbroken wednesday when the couple next to him caught a foul ball that a rangers player tossed into the stands. yankees announcer michael kay ripped into the couple for not giving cameron the ball, and a lot of observers joined in. but this morning on "today" his parents said the video didn't tell the whole story. they say when the couple realized cameron was upset they offered him the ball. >> it all looked worse than it was. i don't think that was their intention at all. we talked to them for a while. they were very nice. he was very nice with cameron. you know, they were comparing balls and talking about hitting the ball and becoming a ranger later and stuff like that. so they were very nice. >> and if all worked out for cameron. the rangers saw what happened and gave him his own ball. his mom says he always sleeps with his baseball glove and now he sleeps with the ball, too. now to a video that's gone viral. a guy decided to pull a prank on his girlfriend and her friends by dressing up as a masked

meanwhile, back here it's a little cool for those of us who have been spoiled. >> right. we have the 80s, and now here we are in spring with the 60s, right? we are going to be warming up. that's a little bit of a tease. you've got to stick around for the seven-day forecast. outside some sunshine for sure. just a few clouds out there. wanted to start by showing you our morning temperatures throughout some of the neighborhoods. our storm 4 hometown weather, these are the morning temperatures for montgomery village, for lexington park, maryland, for andrews air force base, and annapolis. we started out at 48. 51. 48 degrees there at andrews. annapolis at 42. getting ready for more chill here for the overnight and early tomorrow morning because these readings are lookly to be about ten degrees lower by tomorrow morning. we're currently at 63 degrees. a mostly sunny sky but gusty wind blowing at 23 miles per hour. it's out of the northwest. and you can see some of the readings even north of us at 56.

66, big range throughout the area. 66 degrees in culpepper. 69 in fredricksburg, virginia. these readings where the warmth is down south closer to our weather front, but breezy everywhere. gusting to 16, to about 29. mile per-hour gusts currently in hagerstown, maryland. that wind's going to start to settle downthe next couple of hours again. once the sun sets we'll lose some of the wind. but for tomorrow morning then less wind. there will be some cloud cover around the area. partly cloudy. anywhere from the 30s, low 30s to about 43 degrees. so a chilly start to the day tomorrow. but with less wind around. those freeze warnings that are out locally for us just to our north and west, for most of pennsylvania under a freeze warning. same thing in northern new jersey and up into portions of new york. as far as that front down to the south. for tomorrow as it gets closer to us clouds will be on the increase. i'm stopping it at 3:00 p.m. you can see showers mainly to our west. so the bulk of these showers, which will be mainly light, will

the south korean government deemed the concert inappropriate for underage teens and kids and only those 18 and older were allowed to attend. back here in the states a new jersey man is recovering today after falling into a sinkhole while walking along the beach. the accident happened in monmouth this week. the victim says the sand just sucked him in. about a dozen sinkholes have been found along the coastline. officials say this past winter's rain eroded the sand and left deep cavities. a contractor has been called in to fix that problem. the nbc sitcom "30 rock" aired live and uncut last night from studio h. that's inside rockefeller plaza in new york city. the cast and crew including creator tina fey and actor alec baldwin performed the show twice. once for the west coast, again for the east coast. there were also plenty of celebrity cameos throughout the live show, including kim kardashian, paul mccartney, and brian williams, who pretended to be a chauvinistic anchor from the '70s. >> also, i'm being told that

>> perfect time of year. in fact, it's a great question. the first question comes from chris in stafford, virginia, who wants to know why major league baseball games do start at weird times like 3:10, 8:40, 1:35. >> chris, we went straight to major league baseball for your answer. it says games are often started at strange times to leave enough room for pregame entertainment. that means things like player interviews, team introductions, pregame commercials. it's also to maximize viewership. in other words, mlb tries to pin the exact time viewers should tune in to watch that first pitch. they want you there and seated and they don't want you coming in late. >> so nice of them. >> yes. >> our next question comes through e-mail from a viewer whose name is susan. susan asks, what's the safest way to get rid of all that old medication in your cabinet? >> listen up, susan, we contacted the drug enforcement administration for this answer. it tells us that tomorrow, april 28th, is national prescription drug takeback day. that means you can bring your unused meds to different collection sites all over the

region. the event lasts from 10:00 in the morning till 2:00 in the afternoon. to find the collection site nearest you simply visit our website, nbcwashington.com and search take back. if you aren't able to drop off your meds tomorrow, the american pharmacists association recommends you crush the solid medications or dissolve it in water, then mix them with kitty litter or coffee grounds and place that mixture in a sealed plastic bag and then and only then can you toss it in the trash. also, be sure to remove any personal information like your name, your address from that medication container. so take back day is tomorrow. but if not, follow those rules. >> that's good information. last question comes via e-mail. and the viewer wants to know if she should wash her sheets in cold water to save energy. >> sounds like a good idea. but no. we got this answer from the "wall street journal." it says that hot water may actually be your best bet for washing bed sheets. that's because human skin cells can build up on your bedding. sounds gross, but it's true. and become food for dust mites.

a new york boy is all smiles after being voted his high school's prom king. max jakowski has down's syndrome. so the victory was about more than getting a title. abigail bleck has the story. >> reporter: max hasn't stopped dancing since saturday. and really, why should he? he is, after all, the lake george junior senior high school's newly ordained prom king. down's syndrome and all. >> i'm so happy. i'm so excited. >> max jakowski. >> reporter: so was everyone when max's name was called. students and staff quickly rose to give him a standing ovation. and those who did not, well, max asked them to. royal orders. >> i just started to cry. i mean, it was joyful. it was exciting. and honestly, it's kind of a

abigail bleck, nbc news. high winds made for rough air travel on the northern coast of spain this week. this video from wednesday. meteorologists say winds reached up to 40 miles per hour. some pilots were forced to land elsewhere. others circled around until conditions were more ideal for landing. the planes that did land had quite a bumpy ride. but incredibly, no flights were canceled and there were no injuries reported. well, that's good. >> yeah. it's not the wind that folks have been worried about for the weekend but the rain, thinking, oh, you know, saturday's looking wet throughout the day. but no, it's rain showers for the afternoon and for part of the evening hours. so it should not be a big deal at all. especially the fact that it's going to be rather light rain. let's head on over to the weather wall, talk about what's going on. had some cloud cover around the area today. take a look at this photo that i took. this is me walking into work today. i looked up and said oh, isn't that gorgeous? the puffy little clouds there. hey, we always love to get your weather pictures. send them in to

a player with the detroit tigers faces hate crime charges after being arrested in new york. dell mon young is an outfielder. according to reports young started shouting anti-semitic remarks after a panhandler wearing a yamaka asked tourists for money. he then reportedly got into a scuffle with those tourists. he was taken to the hospital to sober up after he was booked. students at m.i.t. celebrate aid milestone today by dropping a piano off a six-story building. this event took place on the campus of the massachusetts institute of technology in cambridge. yesterday marked the last day students can drop classes without being penalized. some 200 stood around to watch the piano crash. organizers say the celebration is safe and that it was planned with the help of school officials.

a virginia man says he's upset after the department of motor vehicles recalled his vanity tags. >> that's right. he says he got them after 9/11 to show his patriotism, but the dmv calls them offensive and says they never should have been issued in the first place. ann mcnamara has the story. >> initially after the attacks of 9/11 i was a little upset, as most people are, and i got this plate here. hate you bin. >> reporter: rick sanders' truck has a theme. he calls it patriotic. >> s.e.a.l. team 6. and osama sleeps with the fishes, go s.e.a.l. team. >> reporter: and you don't have to try too hard to figure out his license plate. >> fight osama.
