struggling to figure out how a life with so much promise could end so tragically. news 4's derek ward reports from prince georges county. >> reporter: it was a happy time for jasmine moss, a new job and a baby on the way. >> she was excited about buying items for the baby. she wanted a goirm will recently had a sonogram, she was excited about that. >> on friday, things took an ominous turn, jasmine hadn't shown up for work. the employer was calling her family. >> i began nervous, i was checking with her friends to see if anyone has talked with her. she put tweets on twitter all the time. and she hadn't been on twitter all mourning. >> little did her family members know the request for information would come to a sad and tragic end on this street in district heights. just before 7:00 p.m. friday

night, police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 4100 block of mason street. >> it was determined she was deceased at that time, and also discovered that she suffered from stab wounds to the upper body 7. >> reporter: she was found just blocks away from the home of her boyfriend, the father of jasmine's unborn daughter. two lives ended violently, one without promise, the other had brightened the lives of those who knew and loved her. >> always had fun, trying to make people laugh. loved children. >> she was a wonderful person. i watched her grow up. she grew up to be a beautiful young lady. >> i want to know why. what type of person would do such a thing to a woman and her unborn child. >> reporter: derek ward, news 4.

in the district, a 19-year-old charged with assaulting two people with a hammer is being held without bond tonight. he's charged with two attacks. including a new attack that happened on thursday. that victim didn't come forward until davis' arrest because he says he was embarrassed. davis could be responsible for three other attacks, including one that killed a tourist. now to a developing story out of st. louis, missouri, one person is dead and 100 others are hurt from a tent collapse at busch stadium. several hundred people were celebrating the cardinals win over the brewers when strong winds blew through the area, the tent was set up as a beer garden next to a sports bar. at least 20 those injured are being treated at a hospital. turning to decision 2012. three republicans vying for a

richardson is suing police for more than $10 million. richardson and three other teenagers were in the stolen car when it crashed near chevy chase circle. richardson says the suit is for his injuries and emotional harm. there's no reason to believe a police cruiser came into contact with the char. th a blind man's bold escape could complicate u.s./chinese relations. he was under home confinement after he exposed the country's forced sterilization and abortion policy. it is believed that cheng is at the u.s. embassy in beijing. the escape puts the two countries at odds as the u.s. tries to gain china's support on issues from iran to china. up next, stars rubbing elbows with d.c.'s elite.
