we'll call it. very similar. >> we will take it. >> thanks. incredible heartache for a fairfax county woman physically and emotionally. first she suffered a stroke. then friday, she learned her daughter died in a hit-and-run accident. 21-year-old shalinda was on her way to visit her mother in the hospital friday morning when the accident happened. police say that arrington got in an argument with another driver on harrison lane and then run over. investigators believe that this could be a case of road rage. arrington's mother is begging important more answers. >> whoever hit her, just come forward. i'm fair. i will give you the chance to tell me what happened. >> a witness told police that arrington's confrontation was with the driver of a dark colored suv with temporary tags. if you know anything about friday's accident that can help

detectives find that you are asked to call fairfax county police. d.c. police revisited a cold case working with a mother to rye to solve her son's murder from four years ago. melvin seals was shot and killed in april of wait on moore street northeast. it was at the height of the gang wars in the trinidad area. yesterday seals' mother canvassed the area along with the help of police cadets and says she simply wants justice and closure for her son's murder. >> you want to be able to dance the victory dance. i want the person that killed my son in jail. if he's already in jail i want him to sna there. he needs to be prosecuted for killing my son a $50,000 reward is available for anyone with information on this case. the race important the white house socially under way. the president has been in campaign mode the past few months but now he has made it official. julie carey was at the kickoff for his re-election campaign in virginia and she has the story.

also legalize marijuana and replace the income tax with a higher national sales tax. a judge called a recess after five men accused in the september 11 attacks used stall tactics at their arraignment this weekend. the five men, mohammed is the self-proclaimed mastermind of the september 11 attacks, the group defy annually disrupted saturday's military hearing at guantanamo bay, cuba. they knelt in prayer, ignored the judge and would not listen to the arabic translation of instructions. the defendants asked all their charges be read out loud. experts say that yesterday's arraignment should have lasted just a few hours at most. but instead stretched nearly 13 hours. the judge scheduled the next hearing for june welfare. right now crowds are gathering for a number of events at the national mall to raise awareness in their fight against cancer. first up, the avon walk for breast cancer. this is a would-day event that started yesterday.

participants are walking either a marathon course of 26 miles or 39-mile marathon and a half. the event raises money for breast cancer research and it is the tenth anniversary of the avon walk. the event wraps up with a closing ceremony this afternoon near the washington monument. >> there is another event going on now. it is an attempt at a world record. >> news4's derrick ward is at people plaza. that's where a large crowd will be will. >> we have been talking about the race to the white house. this is a race technically going away from the white house. but it is for -- definitely for a good cause. you see the crowds starting to gather here. the race is under way. this is a race for hope. it is a product the case foundation in the name of finding the route to the fastest cure for brain cancer. now, this race is actually under way. so you remember zacking. struck by cancer survivor zachary letterer.

arrington on friday morning. arrington was on her way to the hospital to see her mother who recently had a stroke. d.c. police are hoping to solve a murder case that's four years old. yesterday a mother teamed up with police cadets to canvas the neighborhood where her son was shot and killed. melvin seals was murdered during a rash of gang violence around the trinidad neighborhood in 2008. president obama kicked off his re-election campaign with a rally in richmond, virginia. the president spoke at virginia commonwealth university before heading to ohio state university in columbus, ohio. both states are considered still up in the air for november's election. police in maryland are investigating a deadly shooting involving a father and his son. it happened in the 7900 block of spice barry circle in gaithersburg last night. police say a man was arguing with his 22-year-old son. the father then allegedly shot the son who died in a parking lot a short time later. the investigators have not released their identities or

have said what they were actually argue being. one of the victims in a maryland church shoot sing on life support and is not expected to survive. st peters episcopal church in ellicott city released a statement saying reverend mary marguerite comb will donate her organs. comb and a church secretary were shot thursday by a homeless man who then killed himself. the secretary died from the shooting. the church says it is holding a private service today to begin the healing process. police say they found two bodies in their search for a tennessee mother and her three daughters. the authorities issued an amber alert for joanne and her girls yesterday. two bodies turned up in a mississippi home with ties to the man charged in their abduction. he's 35-year-old adam maze. girls ages 8 p. welfare and 14 were last seen april 27 when her husband reported them missing. the fbi describes maze as a family friend. they don't know if they went willingly with maze.

authorities have not said if the bodies were found with the mother or any children. shareholders from warren buffett's company reject planned to name a replacement for the 81-year-old ce o'. the vote was part of berkshire hathaway's annual shareholder meeting. the afl-cio proposed the idea. officials there say they just wanted an annual update on the planning. buffett, who has cancer, says it is a, quote, nonevent. shareholders say that they are okay with buffett's updates and they are confident plan is in place to eventually replace him. >> he said that he's not going to miss any work, that his treatment is going to be just a simple few minutes a day, just -- just walks a few blocks from his office. walks and gets treatment. he won't miss any work. he said he will be perfectly fine. >> buffett says he gets regular updates on his health and that house company's board discusses his replacement more than any other subject. voters in france are casting ballots in a presidential runoff

maiden voyage. the trip comes four months after the costa concordia tragedy. 32 people died when the ship hit a reef. and half of it sank. the ship's captain is accused of veering off course before the crash. the new ship is now the largest from italy and owned by carnival based in miami. a new report shows more and more students are working to excel in high school. 2 million students are preparing to take close to 4 million advanced placement exams. those are the ap exams. that's more than double the number of students who took the ap exams ten years ago. more and more states and high schools are pushing ap classes as a way to raise standards and grades. more students are succeeding as 18% of high school grads passed at least one ap exam last year. those are great numbers. i remember taking the ap exams. lot of preparation goes into that. >> yeah. not easy. you know, if you -- guess if you score high enough you cannot have to take college courses.

out into northern virginia this morning. burke and chantilly, towards south riding, virginia. temperatures in the low 60s this morning. nothing showing up on doppler. we will be rain-free for your sunday p you are going out to the nationals game tonight, perfect weather for baseball. cloudy skies are can wear jeans to the game tonight. first pitch temperature right ruined 68 degrees. first pitch is at 8:00. up to our north and west, this is our next chance for rain. marching through the northern parts of the grit lakes now. cold front dropping down into northwestern missouri. that is the combed front which will bring us our next chance for rain late in the day tuesday on into tuesday night and wednesday. for now, though, just cloud write. patchy fog is all but begun. high pressure that's driving that easterly breeze, that's going to leave with us a mostly cloudy day today and again tonight after the sun goes down, all of that low level moisture willing, i think, once again leave you a nothingy start first thing tomorrow morning. as that area of high pressure moves further off the coastline we get a little bit more of a southerly componentnent the wind. by late in the day tomorrow, as a result, few extra breaks of
