that the good people at the faa were doing. >> a life sentence for a man convicted of killing a state trooping outside an appleby's. today a prince georges county judge sentenced williams to life in jail plus 25 years. he shot trooper brown. brown kicked williams out for being disruptive. williams came back with a gun and shot brown. trooper brown's partner reacted to the sentence. >> to have someone, anyone to die around you but then have a partner who you cared for, that cared for everyone else take his last breath in your arms is something you can't tell anybody how you feel about that. it's something that you carry with you all the time, something i carry with me every day. >> brown's fiancee says justice has finally been served. williams maintained his innocence and did not speak before today's sentencing. his attorney plans to appeal.

search and rescue teams found that russian airplane that disappeared yesterday during a test flight over indonesia. it apparently slammed into a dormant volcano. it was brand new, the first passenger jet built in russia since the fall of the soviet union two decades ago. 48 people were on board. rescuers do not spexpect to fin any survivors. >> there are at least 55 dead, hundreds injured. tonight the white house has confirmed twin suicide bombings. we report from cairo. >> reporter: two suicide car bombs exploded thursday morning in the syrian capital of damascus killing more than 50 people and wounding more than 370. the explosions took place in a district in the syrian capital that houses a military

those attending include rosa parks' niece and raymond parks institute for self-development. her carving is located in the cathedral's human rights section that's dedicated to major human rights figures here and around the world. other things in the porch include eleanor roosevelt and the cathedral's first african-american bishop, john walker. it's the work of chaz fagan and carver sean callahan. the parks carving is integrated into the fabric of the columns, located just beneath the arch. it took about two months to complete. those two blocks of stone had been there almost a hundred years. only now did the folks at the

the jet malfunctioned on april 6th and went hurtling into an apartment complex. 37 apartments had to be cleaned and restored. the pilots ejected safely and nobody on the ground was injured. >> a record drug bust today in howard county. police say a man was growing thousands of dollars in marijuana inside his home. >> and the suspect has ties to maryland law enforcement. >> reporter: it was a huge raid with hundreds of seized marijuana plants filling inside of a howard county jail cell, matured plants with a street value of half a million dollars. >> had absolutely no clue there was any kind of trafficking

jetblue says a computer glitch caused a toddler to show up on tsa's no-fly list. employees made an 18-month-old girl and her parents get off a plane in ft. lauderdale earlier this week. the girls parents believe they were targeted because they're of middle eastern dissent. they were later cleared to get on the flight but left because they were humiliated. jetblue apologized but said employees did follow standard protocol. >> an fda panel met today to discuss whether truvada would be used for the prevention of hiv. in studies it custcut the risk in gay or bisexual men, it was cut by 75% in straight couples where one person was hiv
