brother-in-law for murdering three of her family members. william balfour was convicted for killing hudson's mother, brother, and nephew. balfour was the ex-husband of her sister. prosecutors built a circumstantial case. witnesses testified that balfour threatened to kill the family in the past. jurors stated the star wasn't a part. >> for us her celebrity really had nothing to do with it. it's unfortunate that it was her family, but this was not for us the jennifer hudson case. this was the people of illinois against william balfour. >> hudson thanked prosecutors, police, and others who helped convict balfour and asked for prayer for his family.

an argument over an empty beer can has left one person in the hospital this morning. a man saw another man throw a beer can on the ground. the man asked him to please pick the can up. but police say the suspect argued back saying who do you think you're talking to and began punching the man in the face. city officials haven't been responsive enough to complaints about loitering and other crimes near the building, residents say. >> we want people to feel secure in terms of being here and in terms of having their families here. and we want the old-timers and the stake holders who have been here to feel the same way. >> the victim suffered a broken jaw, a fracture in his face, and lost teeth. the beating was captured on one of the security cameras. police hope the release of a

surveillance video at a robbery will lead them to the masked men. both robbers got away after the clerk emptied the registers. the clerk was not hurt, but if you know anything about the case or can recognize the men, police would like to talk to you. now to decision 2012 where things are heating up in virginia. president obama's campaign is hoping two more campaign offices today in the commonwealth. one will open up on duke street and alexandria. the other in the richmond area. he now has 15 campaign offices across virginia. president obama's campaign has released photos from his star studded fund raising event at george clooney's house. some of the biggest names in hollywood attended. including barbara streisand, jack black. they're just a few who rubbed elbows with the frf.

re-examined. george zimmerman was released by police because he claimed self-defense under the florida stand your ground law. the head of jpmorgan chase apologizes for a risky trade that lost the bank $2 billion. jamie dimon says his move wu grievous and self-inflicted. dimon is regarded as one of the least risky in the financial industry. the sec is investigating the loss and lawmakers are considering another look at wall street regulations. dimon will talk about the loss tomorrow on "meet the press." jpmorgan chase's $2 billion loss caused its stock to fall this week. overall the dow fell 34 points yesterday, but 83% of the dow's drop was because of jpmorgan

the fairfax museum. the two are buried at the cemetery. notice the spelling on their gravestone. no e. but the sagar name is not only that way in stone. it's in black and white. in this 1981 document from the virginia assembly and in the 1870s, the fairfax times reported he was appointed a judge. they want the city to correct the signs. >> i hope for history's sake that they consider it. >> reporter: the fairfax museum is in the original fairfax elementary school house. that property was donated by the sagar family but they spell it like the signs. sager. even the maps spell sager with an e but some say determining the proper spelling may be difficult because way back centuries ago while the record keepers may have been good, they weren't always the best spellers.

>> the lack of consistent written records and you go on phonetic spellings. that's how you write it down. i could see how it would happen. >> reporter: the city has not decided what the proper spelling is yet, but some of those who live on the avenue are taking the name dispute in stride. >> i'll just change my address labels. >> reporter: fairfax officials aren't sure how much it would cost to replace the signs. it will be up to the city council to make the final decision. knowing just how much protection you're getting from the sun rays may be a little confusing this summer. the fda is giving sun screen makers until december to relabel their bottles to show just how much protection a lotion gives. the fda ordered the changes last summer and new bottles were supposed to be on the shelves next month. in the future lotions that protect from both uva to uvb rays will be labeled broad spectrum.

police say the man saw a guy throw it on the ground. when he asked him to pick it up. the man punched him fracturing his face. the man heading jpmorgan chase is blaming himself for the risk that lost $2 billion. he says he's sorry for committing a grievous and risky mistake. a teenager charged with attacking police with a hammer in d.c.'s petworth neighborhood has been found competent to stand trial. one killed a tourist last month. a judge ruled him mentally competent for now. but family members of the victims disagree.

was successful. he's also denying complications developed during his treatment. he began his treatments in march after undergoing surgery a month earlier to remove a tumor from his pelvic region. b he had another tumor removed last june. chavez has kept many details a secret. police in venezuela are looking into a death threat against chavez's brother. you may be surprised where this came from. a tv commentator says he saw the threat in this puzzle. he claims a code is in the puzzle. the number of immigrants living in the u.s. is at its highest population since 1920. a new report by the u.s. census bureau shows that 40 million foreign born people were living in the united states in 2010. more than half of the immigrant population is from latin america and the caribbean. nearly 30% are from asia.

and more than half of all foreign born residents live in new york, california, texas, and florida. the engine of an iconic race car designer and driver has gone silent. shelby passed away last thursday night in dallas. the texas native grew up raising chickens on a farm but eventually worked his way up to become an icon of the auto industry. his cobra and shelby mustang designs are instantly identifiable. at a time when racing was dominated by europe. shelby was 89 years old. either winter continues or summer starts tonight for capitals. the caps are confident after an aggressive 2-1 win wednesday.
