jamie dimon faces stock holders for the first time. nbc tracie potts joins us from washington with those details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. what's going to happen today to jamie dimon when he faces the stock holders in tampa for the first time. some say dimon is unlikely to be booted from the top post at the company because he's, until now, been considered a genius on wall street and investors would be unlikely to navigate this without him. but on the other hand there's a proposal to split the chair and the ceo, the two positions that he now holds. jpmorgan chase has lost about 12% of its value in the last five days but this time president obama said on "the view" at least the taxpayers weren't left holding the bag. >> think about it. this is the best or one of the best managed banks. you could have a bank that isn't

as strong, isn't as profitable making those same bets and we might have had to step in and that's exactly why wall street reform is so important. >> and that's exactly why congress is looking to wall street reform. the senate already had hearings scheduled. now they added to their agenda this challenge. tracie potts, thanks so much. women are talking about tissue of same sex marriage, particularly since president obama's announcement that he now supports it. a "new york times" cbs poll found 67% of those surveyed thought the president made that decision mostly for political reasons. only 24% said it was mostly because he think it's right. the poll also found 38% believe gay couples should be allowed to marry. 24% supported same sex civil unions, 33% said there should be no legal recognition.

same sex marriage is sure to remain a critical issue in the run for the white house. brian mooar reports. >> reporter: at a campaign fundraiser with gays and lesbians in new york, president obama described but didn't dwell on his support for same sex marriage rights. >> i want everybody treated fairly in this country. it doesn't weaken families it strengthens families. points but in hong kong, the hang seng added 159. an agreement between opposing political parties in greece is looking increasingly unlikely. more talks are scheduled for today the country's leftest leader vows to oppose any kind of bailout. that has global investors worried that greece could back out in its debt payment and drop the euro zone currency driving up rates. europe's debt drama and jpmorgan chase $2 billion blunder weighed down stocks. euro zone fears continue to spill over on to oil prices which fell to near $94 a barrel overseas this morning. after the "closing bell" groupon shot up after posting its first quarterly profit. it closed 20% higher in regular trade.

storm 4 doppler radar showing rain moving into and through the d.c. region this morning. how will it impact your start to the day? tom will have your forecast, and danella will check the roads. first, good morning, i'm aaron gilchrist. >> i'm eun yang. welcome to "news4 today" for this tuesday, may 15, 2012. it was a violent night in d.c. first a deadly shooting involving a police officer. it happened just before 11:00 along 6th street in southeast. we're told two police officers approached a man carrying a gun and walking with two yorkshire terrie terriers. there was a brief exchange of gunfire. the man walking the dogs was shot and killed. one of the officers was shot in

the leg. he was taken hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. another shooting a few blocks away. police say two people were shot along v street in southeast washington. one of the men foot. the other was shot in the arm. both victims were taken to the hospital and are expected to make a full recovery. so far no arrests have been made. this morning, d.c. police are trying to figure out what led to a stabbing in the dupont circle neighborhood. police say a man was stabbed twice near 16th and p streets. you can -- emergency crews helped the man into an ambulance. police say he was stabbed once in the head. he was conscious and breathing. no word on his condition right now. today the public will get a chance to see some of the evidence from the george huguely murder case. the items will be on display today and tomorrow in the charlottesville courtroom where he stood trial. the evidence includes about 200 photographs and his police interrogation. autopsy photos and other sensitive evidence will not be shown. huguely, a former university of virginia lacrosse player, was
