6:22 pm
heading down toward ocean city, maryland or rehoboth the beaches will be windy this weekend with winds maybe 20 to 30 miles an hour through the day on sunday. so watch out on sunday. maybe some shower activity, too, like virginia beach may not be the best place to go on your sunday. but still all in all not too bad. a few high clouds. a great evening. really get out and enjoy it. 64 to 70 degrees. tonight the battle of the beltways happening in just about an hour as the orioles come down i-95 right down to nats park. a beautiful night at the ballpark. 73 degrees at game time. nice and mild. cooler a little later. you may want to take a light jacket or at least wear long sleeves under the jersey. a few high clouds tomorrow morning and a great start but then warming very quickly. temperatures 46 to about 55 degrees with winds out of the northeast about 5 miles per hour. we will warm up extremely quickly during the day tomorrow with temperatures approaching the 80-degree mark. another nice day with plenty of sunshine. i do think we'll see more high clouds during the day tomorrow and then as we move toward the

it was a daily routine that built quite a bond. for ten years a florida father walked his daughter to school every day. it started when laura mckinney was in prekindergarten. she and her dad frank never gave it up. when they were late to school they walked. when a bridge was under construction they took a row boat. laura mckinney is 13 years old now. wednesday was her last day of 8th grade and she is moving up to high school next year. so she and her father made that walk for the last time. he ended their walk with the same advice as always. >> take care of the kids. take care of your teachers. laugh and giggle. be a kid. have fun. don't worry about anything. daddy loves you. >> it was his last time saying it so, yeah. >> a real hard time getting through that. >> frank mckinney has written a

the increase. then we'll see a chance of showers move in late sunday but then monday, tuesday, wednesday, and thursday we all have a chance to at least see some showers. best chance will be from the i-95 corridor off to the east if you live up toward the mountains. you won't have nearly as much of a chance of seeing that rain but once again you may need the umbrellas for a couple days next week. >> okay. the weekend sounds good. thank you, doug. >> we're loving it. some years ago a friend of mine woke up just as he is being pronounced dead. he said that experience changed his life and that he never again failed to ak noonlg blessing however small, obscure, or seemingly insignificant. i thought of him in that little pearl of wisdom while reflecting on the death of chuck brown. so much has been written about chuck's influence on the music and temper of this town but it was donny simpson who in his own way probably put it best when he said when it comes to representing d.c. you got the washington monument, the big

chair, and chuck brown. the chili bowl. here is where it gets good. in terms of music and musician whos have shaped the landscape chuck brown is part of a long, long line of giants. folks in detroit and philly love to brag about the enormous contribution their natives have made to the national musical tapestry. they are not to be denied. but neither are we. folks in d.c., we have been blessed with an abundance of musical genius that covers nearly the entire music spectrum from a back yard bucket to lewo inn and we're not new at this. two centuries ago john philips sousa put a lump in every patriot's throat with the stars and stripes forever. born right here. over in virginia there stands that pentagon. a pentagon of locally born or nurtured talent. in this corner you got the sophisticated swinger duke
