anything. the teacher came to the office and that's where the assault took place. >> reporter: hall, the mother of a young son, has been working since august 2009 as a comprehensive specialist. and according to her school biography has been teaching for 11 years. police say arresting a teacher for grabbing a student is unusual. but members of their physical abuse unit investigated. the student had minor injuries. >> we don't obviously have teachers arrested often, especially for assault and battery on a student. this case is very unusual. we investigated it like any other case that we receive. >> reporter: hall was released on a $2,000 upon. she has been suspended with pay. no court date has been set. in woodbridge, jane watrel, news4. an position from the head of the secret service for that prostitution scandal that rocked the agency. the secret service chief mark sullivan was in the hot seat on capitol hill.

new developments in the scandal that involves mayor vincent gray's campaign for mayor. a second gray campaign official is being charged with lying to authorities. here's tom with the latest. >> then he deceived the voters. he vowed to push ahead with his corruption investigation. just tuesday, the gray campaign assistant treasurer thomas gore plead guilty to charges he helped funnel money to then minor candidate sewell eight mon brown. prosecutor charged a second operative. howard brooks with false statement to the fbi about this. brooks had been cooperating with authorities in charges against him. now indicate another major step in the investigation. mayor vincent gray, his campaign activities under investigation, turned aside all questions about the corruption cases. including the u.s. attorney's

and kill while riding her bike on route 202 in largo in the early morning hours tell 30-year-old college student was training for a triathlon. the driver, 43-year-old christy littleford who left the scene is now on trial charged with felony hit and run. >> i'm suffering mixed emotions. it will be the first time i have seen the defendant, and as much as i've tried to move forward with my life, it is near impossible to move forward with my life until there's some closure. >> reporter: littleford's attorney that she did stop twice. but believing she hit a deer, drove home. once home her husband discovered the bike longed in the undercarriage of her vehicle. she said they got in a different car, drove to the scene to find out what happened, went to prince george's hospital center where pettygrew was being treated. then drove to a police station to report the incident. he said it was an unfortunate

the president of the montgomery county council is demanding answers. it come after a local dispatcher fell asleep on the job and was heard snoring during a woman's frantic call for help. chris gordon is here now with an update to the story you saw first here. >> an inquiry is being conducted by the montgomery county fire and rescue service. the chief has given a verbal report to councilmembers about the incident involving the snoring dispatcher. a hearing may be health this summer. montgomery county council president roger berliner requested the action immediately

after seeing the news4 i-team report monday night. >> this kind of incident is totally unacceptable it is and an embarrass many for our county. >> reporter: it happen in april when a 911 operator forwarded a call to a fire rescue dispatcher from a woman whose husband was having chest pains. the dispatcher was asleep and can be heard snoring on the audio recording of the emergency call. >> hold on one second. let me get them on the line again. >> oh! >> reporter: roger berliner is president of the montgomery county council. >> i immediately pick up the phone and call our fire chief and asked for a report. so he has given me a verbal briefing. i've asked for a written report. we will get a written report to our public safety committee and we will have a hearing in which he come forward and explains his recommendations. what went wrong and what he's going to do about it. >> reporter: the fire rescue dispatch here fell asleep was 17 hours into his 24-hour work shift. in less than an hour, he would have been due for a sleep break. he was working in a temporary

facility. dispatchers have since been moved to this newly arranged emergency call facility where supervisors have direct line of sight and can monitor their dispatchers more closely. stand chief scott graham says this was an isolated incident. >> the supervisors do a very good job. that 911 call center is very busy. they handle and process about 120,000 calls a year. so with this one particular incident, we had human error. >> reporter: the patient in this case was transported and treated successfully. the dispatcher has been placed on administrative leave with pay. tonight on news4 at 6:00, we'll ask the union representing fire rescue personnel about working 24-hour shifts after this dispatcher fell asleep on the job. >> all right. chris gordon, thanks. the private school that president obama's daughters tan is debunking a prank e-mail that web out to parents.

someone sent a message claiming condoms would be available in the school bathrooms at dances and other school functions. the e-mail claiming that inappropriate sexual behavior had prompted this distribution. the message went out to parents at the upper school at its wisconsin avenue campus. another e-mail was quickly send out and addressed it as a prank. we've got some wicked weather out there. a lot of thunder and a ton of lightning with these storms. we're seeing some very heavy rain across parts of the area. let's show you what's happening outside right now. you noticed the very cloudy conditions. the very dark skies out there. that's another thunderstorm coming right across the district right now. one in northwest. one down toward southeast and alexandria and right around the airport. the current temperature at the airport down to 73 degrees. we've fallen about 7 degrees in the last ten minutes as we've seen that thunderstorm come right overhead. the winds out of the south at 15 miles an hour. they're starring to gust a little bit with those storms. the temperature, cooler whenner we've seen the rachbl

gaithersburg at 66. martinburg, no rain yet. a temperature of 79 degrees. trust me, the rain is on its way to you, too. take a look at all this rain making its way from southeast over to northwest. a lot of the these have a lot of lightning associated with them including the one right across the district. this is northwest washington. right along 16th. you can see 16th street. also georgia. >> toward rosemary hills. seeing a lot of lightning with this. some very heavy rain. this is right along military road as it crosses across rock creek park. watch out for that storm. other storm in montgomery county. around the redland area. also, lightning with these storms and then back toward the west. back toward dulles. you can see the runways here. just to the west of chantilly. more tomorrow in through central loudoun county. look at all the lightning with this storm along route 50. if you're out driving about, you're going to see a lot of lightning but slow down out

there. especially going through some of these very heavy downpours. one of the heaviest we're at is right around the airport and right through alexandria. downtown alexandria really getting hit hard and then toward 295, also seeing some very heavy rain there. the good news is none of this is severe just yet. it continues to stay to the south and into north carolina. you can see a couple severe thunderstorm warnings. that area under a severe thunderstorm watch. for us it will be the garden variety thunderstorms but with all the moisture we've seen, we will see the potential for that very heavy rain. and these storms are moving very slowly. here's our frontal boundary. a stationary front. that's why we're not seeing much movement, because the storm is not moving. tomorrow a repeat performance of today. if you're not seeing the thunderstorm today, you may get them during the day tomorrow. as this front is still around the area. even on friday, the front will

hello. taking a look at what is now another dangerous situation out there with flash flooding. we have big time thunderstorms right around the district here. but this is the area i want to focus in on right toward northern prince william county. this is the same area that has been hit for two consecutive days. and right now i'm watching a boundary its way down from the south. that is creating the big time thunderstorms. these are right along route 29 to the north of manassas right along the bull run area and to the east gainesville. a lot of lightning with this. a ton of lionel with this. the bigger issue is the flash

around horses. >> hey, good boy! >> reporter: believe it orange he grew right up in the heart of our city in adam's morgan. but he has always been drawn to horses and the peaceful country life. so when he retired from the d.c. governmentering got this 64-acre plot of land in prince george's county. he has 11 goats here and about two dozen horses. he owns five. he boards 18. but the story of animal beauty, and rural tranquility now takes an ugly twist. you see, last january, someone drove a truck into this horse barn, attached one end of a chain to the doors of the shed. the other end to the truck and hit the gas. down came those doors. but it didn't stop there. you see, the suspect then went

into the shed and began to steal hay. lots of hay. >> what do you make of this? >> i don't know. >> reporter: after months of investigation, police have a suspect. charged in the case, 49-year-old kellene davis. he is a alone on the d.c. fire department. she is stationed at truck 15 on rhode island avenue. a couple years ago she boarded horses here but then she moved them away. she is charged with burglary. malicious destruction of property, and the theft of hay. about 20 bales of hay. it sells for about $6 a bale. the fire department has placed lieutenant davis on administrative leave. now if she's convicted of all the charges against her, she could face a maximum penalty of

15 years in jail. live in prince george's county. pat collins, news4. three drivers are recovering in the hospital after a crash at rose croft raceway in prince george's county last night. the drivers were hurt when a lead horse took a bad step in a race causing seven horses to collide. one driver has three fractured vertebrae. another has a separated collar bone. a third suffered a cracked heel, a broken bone in his foot. no hurt horses were seriously injured. a local taekwondo struggler has been indicted for inappropriate sexual contact with a minor and possession of child porn. police say 38-year-old quyen vinh phan le had contact with at least two victims between 2003 and 2008 both were under the age of 18 and police believe the contact occurred at the university of martial arts in springfield and the suspect's home. a new study out says washington does not have the worst traffic in the nation and

neither do new york or los angeles. in fact, honolulu has the country's worst traffic. that's according to the traffic tracker website. l.a. came in second followed by san francisco, new york, and bridgeport, connecticut. the website says d.c. has the sixth worst traffic. meanwhile, the same website says d.c.'s traffic is getting better. the average driver spent 45 hours on the brakes last year. believe it or not, that's 11 hours less than in 2010. the study also found the worst time to be out on the roads in d.c. is between 5:45 and 6:00 on a thursday evening. that's because many folks in d.c. don't work on fridays. a fast forward through the headlines. a wood bridge teacher is charge with saub against a 10-year-old student. police say cynthia hall grabbed the boy this month. she works with emotionally challenged students at kerrydale elementary. >> a second aide who work on

today 80 veterans of world war ii were given a chance to see the monuments and memorials that honor their service and sacrifice. the veterans were brought to washington by a group call honor flight northwest ohio. the group brings world war ii vet to the capital several time a year to visit with each other. share their stories and see the memorials. most people think of babies and toddlers when they think of bringing a family through, building a family through adoption. but there are a lot of older kids out there searching for homes as well. >> ronald is one of those children. he said he's hoping for parents

d.c. police are investigating a serious attack that left a local woman hospitalized for weeks. her husband is a high profile scientist and there was a time when police appeared to consider him a suspect in this beating. they even barred him from her bedside. pete williams has the latest. >> reporter: it's been almost seven weeks since the brutal beating was discovered at the couple's apartment on cal rama road on northwest washington. now theville's husband is fighting for the right to stay with his wife in the hospital. david guggenheim said he rushed back to washington from several days of travel in early april after family members became concerned that his wife svetlana was not answering phone calls. >> i took the next train home in the morning and came home and found her lying on the bedroom floor. a lot of dried blood. she had been there a while.

a horrible black eye in her left eye. she was shaking. and incoherent. and it was horrible. >> reporter: david googlenheim is a prominent marine biologist. the ocean doctor, he calls himself, appearing recently on 60 minutes to dramatize threats to underwater life. >> critically endangered. pretty much the highest level of endangerment. >> reporter: he was a go-to expert in tweb's bp disaster in the gulf. >> this spill will move with the currents in the gulf of mexico. >> reporter: but now he is fighting for the right to stay with his wife as she recovers from the brutal attack that left her with a blood clot serious enough to require brain surgery. at first, he was by her hospital bedside almost constantly. but then he says washington, d.c. police suddenly block him from her room. local prosecutors claimed in court that, quote, it was miss googlen i'm's explicit wishes that plaintiff, her husband, not be permitted to have contact with her. then they had a note from a

visit since late last week. >> he says police did search his apartment. they took a the love electronic including a cell phone and a computer. turning to the weather, strong storms roll through our region. >> let's get the latest from doug. >> they're rolling through in a big way. the radar is showing where these storms are. you can see a lot of them toward the eastern shore, then back across the metro area and then back to the south including a brand new storm that just popped up to the north and west of fredericksburg. that one producing a ton of line. let's zoom in along the 66 corridor. right through portions of manassas and then back through fairfax and this storm right here, a ton of lightning and very heavy rain right now. just around the falls church area. this is around the clarendon area. at love lightning, also northwest washington has seen a lot of lightning and a lot of storms coming through that area with a lot of rain. these are dumping about an inch to an inch and a half of rain in

about an hour. watch out for some localized flooding. and speaking of flooding, we've seen northern prince william county get hammered over the past two to three days and once again, getting hal werd a lot of rain. not just a lot of rain but take a look. i've turned the lightning off on these because there is too much lightning to show you. you won't be able to see the cities. notice when i take it off, this is where we're seeing that flash flood warning. the third day in a row we've seen a flash flood warning in prince william county. we have it again. also including the southern portions, right along bull run. if you live in an area that was flooded, this could be near your area to the north and west of manassas. toward berryville. this line of storm along 255 moving over toward portions of jefferson county. that is a very strong line and down toward middleburg, and then we go down to the south. more storms to the south and west culpepper. this is a big storm here. a lot of lightning.

but more importantly, very heavy rain from these storms. never drive across flooded roads. we saw that happen the other day. all of these storms rotating around a much larger area of low pressure. we're going to continue to see that low pressure around the region for tomorrow, too. we could see a repeat performance as we move through day tomorrow. here is that frontal boundary. that little stationary front and the area of low pressure. once again we'll continue to watch it during the day tomorrow. but then things get a little bit better. what i mean, we dry out but we also get warm. there's one thing you want for memorial day week. you want it to feel like summer? this memorial day weekend you've got it. 89 on saturday. 90 on sunday. 92 on monday. memorial day. a heat index between 95 and 100. maybe a little too hot. >> i am not turning my air conditioning. on thank you, doug. trying to keep up with your workouts when you have kids can be tough. now there is a place you can be a mom and get some exercise at

the same time. we asked, what's your workout? >> mommy strong, come on! >> a mommy boot camp class and we incorporate everything. we do cardio drills, strength training, core work. we kind of cover it all. the whole idea is that your kids can be at class with you. they can be in a stroller, while we're working out in the studio. we have the play room. so what is a little different is that the kids enjoy coming. it makes it easier for mom to get to class and make the commitment to be healthy for her family. we did some partner high fives. we did burpies with the medicine ball. we did some partner calls where you're really trying to cheer your partner on to get some cardio in. we did some with the beener ball, some gloot work. we've been trying to get ready for the pools opening.

the national zoo showed off two of its new additions. take a look. these cheetah cubs were born at a sony location in virginia. look at this one, a hungry little fellow. one cub was rejected by her mother. the other had to be delivered by emergency c-section. the cubs are about two pounds each but they will grow to be about 70 pounds. the female will be part of a breeding program. the male cub could make its public debut at the zoo by late summer. that is something to see. >> sweet! my goodness. coming up, it's movie night for the family. details on the free screenings across our area. coming up, police know who killed an american university professor but they can't get to him. the form he first lady nancy reagan took a nasty fall. we'll tell but that. and we'll show you how you move a 6200 ton building.

six-minute youtube video showing the fictional haley bennett facing physical violence and torment day after day until she finally committed suicide. the video ened with the message, speak up, speak out. bullying is 100% preventable. >> i was so excited. i would work on it so hard for the two days straight that i work on it. just to make sure it was done and made sure it had a good message in it. >> reporter: but jessica's good message got a bad reaction of jessica's family says that a concerned parent saw the facebook page and not realizing it was fake, call police who contacted the school. the family says school officials then suspended jessica for five days. even after she explained that it was an anti-bullying project. telling her, she says, she had created a disruption at the school. >> i started hysterically crying. i could not believe that i was getting in trouble for something that i work so hard on and the only intent of it was good. >> reporter: jessica says the

school demanded her facebook password and took the page down. she said both the facebook page and the video contained clear disclaimers saying the girl and her story were fake. cyber bullying is a very real problem. in the last few years, several teens have committed suicide after facing relentless tauning online. >> they've been teefg us since we were in kindergarten that you treat people the way you want to be treated and not to bully. i make some type of movement in it and i get punished for it. >> now at 6:00, our storm watch continues as rain washes over parts of our area. a second campaign aide to vincent gray talks about lying and the scandal is up the mayor's office. a local teacher is charged with assaulting a student. and strong storms out there. >> we've had back to back storms
