a mcclain man who seriously burned himself in a kitchen fire has died. police say 91-year-old carol adams was cooking at his home on old meadow road last night when his clothing caught fire. a neighbor heard him screaming for help and ran over to put on the fire. crews found adams with third degree burns over 40% to 50% of his upper body. he was taken to washington hospital center where he later died. this this is the first fire related death in fairfax county in more than a year. a lot of people hitting the roads. more than 358,000 vehicles will be using the bay bridge during the course of this memorial day weekend. we have kuchk of the holiday tonight. a lot of events going on at home, as well. we begin with the weather. >> you guys are talking about the traffic. i just talked to the mayor here in ocean city and he gets updates all the time with the traffic coming in. a seven mile backup right now at

they have identified the marine found dead in his barracks earlier this week. 19-year-old private romanocaruso was found in his room on wednesday. he's from north carolina. the naval criminal investigative service has launched an investigation into how he died. according to military officials, it was not of natural causes. the man who confessed will this week to strangling a 6-year-old boy in new york, 33 years ago, has been hospitalized as a suicide risk. pedro per in an dhernandez is c

facing a bedside arraignment. >> reporter: 33 years to the day that patz disappeared, there is new hope for answers to what happened to the little boy on may 25th, 1979. police have arrested and charged 51-year-old pedro hernandez with the murder of patz. according to thourts, hernandez confessed to the murder telling investigators he lured the 6-year-old from a school bus stop to a neighborhood store where he worked. >> he then let him into the basement of the bodega, choked him there, and disposed of the body by putting it into a plastic bag and placing it in the trash. >> reporter: it was a cold case that was never forgotten. pats otherwise washingt pat o patz was the first missing child on a milk carton. >> do you feel a bit of relief? >> no, i don't think so. would i have felt relief yearsing years

overnight tonight, 67 degrees. a very warm humid night. tomorrow we'll get more of that humidity so the heat index will be around that 90 degree mark around the district even though we're going to a high of about 80, it will feel more like 90 to 93 degrees. notice the mountains tomorrow. still on the warm side into the 80s. but you have the best chance of seeing at least some shower activity so don't expect much in the way of rain, but expect a lot of heat, a lot of humidity coming up. so watch out for that all weekend long right on throughout day on monday. now, backyard weather, we'll be going to people's backyards all summer long. we want to come to your backyard and we want to see pictures. so send them to us. and even if it's a front yard, a side yard, if you have a garage, if you live in the district and a row home, that's fine, too. we'll do a block party.

city and it has become easier to do so even and especially now. like many others in town, i am disgusted and embarrassed by the recent revelations of campaign skull drugry. it was one and stupid. who keeps a notebook of illegal payments? but while campaign aides get krikted and we wonder who else is going down, here's something going down we can actually celebrate and that is crime. the statistics in that regard are encouraging. and while crime is down, almost everything else that matters is up. our housing market is among the best in the country. businesses are opening up all over town. construction is up. you can't turn a corner without seeing a crane. test scores are not sooping towa zooming, but at least no longer plummeting. tourism is up. and more people are moving they're stay for a while. cities all over the country are
