path. brian was killed instantly. his mother suffered broken legs and a broken pelvis. eyewitness was driving right behind. she testified she watched as his car began to veer right. there was time to correct, she said, but the car continued. it went through a thick sign. i looked u and saw two bodies fly through the air. she testified she immediately stopped and went to the mother's aid. she asked for her son. she was in a panic over her son. i said the lord's prayer and she joined me in spanish. maria chavez also testified hobbling to the witness stand on a kacane. she told the judge she had no time to react. i woke up and i was laying on the grass and i saw the lady holding my hand and she told me not to move. i told her i wanted to see where my son was. asked the prosecutor, did you ever see your son again there? no, replied chavez. her defense attorney says

they'll try to show his actions don't constitute manslaughter. said the lawyer, this case really is a tragedy. it's sad but it was an accident. this trial's expected to wrap up tomorrow. coming up on news 4 at 6:00, what victor aldona says he was drinking before that crash. jury selection began today in the jerry sandusky sex abuse trial. the former penn state coach charged with molesting ten boys over the course of 15 years. today lawyers questioned 200 potential jurors. just moments ago, the judge announced that six juries have been selected so far. help says they're making good progress at finding an impartial jury. open arguments are scheduled to start on monday in what expected to be a three-week long trial. hazmat crew s have containe an oil spill in southwest. a fuel tank was punctured spilling 30 gallons of fuel.

105 years. queen elizabeth said the jubilee has been a touching and humbling experience. the queen road through streets of london today, wrapping up four days of celebration, honoring her jubilee. after the procession, the queen and royal family greeted the crowd from buckingham palace, on the balcony. she attended a service at st. paul's cathedral. lunched at the house of commons with 700 guests. and closed with a rare tv address to her people. >> it touched me deeply to see so many thousands of families, neighbors and friends celebrating together in such a happy atmosphere. >> her husband, prince philip, is still in the hospital being treated for a bladder infection but we're told he's doing better and he watched the celebrations on television. >> tens of thousands of people traveled to witness the event.

some higher temperatures have been to the south and west. fairf fairfax, virginia, 55 degrees currently. satellite and radar. all the clouds covering. coming on down. just a little more sunshine for you. you can see those showers there showing up right there off to the west. so as we go through, i think they'll stay in this general area. unlike this morning, really don't see us being wet at all for tomorrow morning. we will have some low clouds because we're stuck with this general pattern. sometimes you have low pressure at the surface. sometimes you have low pressure aloft. more importantly, we have one that's right here. it hasn't been moving very much. the spin around that area of low pressure, lots of clouds from michigan all the way through areas of virginia and down through north carolina. so here we go. tomorrow morning, we're dry. we get some showers for the

one person is dead. another clinging to life. after a fiery crash in montgomery county. witnesses told police it was a dramatic scene as folks tried to rescue the victims inside the car. >> now, more on the investigation. >> i live right around the corner here. i heard a big boom. >> that boom, this honda civic slamming here. one of the first people on the scene were the washington county volunteer firefighter. the driver was pinned inside, but he was able to pull the passenger out through a side window. the passenger has been identified as 23-year-old oscar armando chavez martinez of german town.

he was flown to a trauma center with life threatening injuries. >> he was not wearing his seat belt. he was jostled around quite a bit from the impact. >> pieces of twisted metal and charred debris still litter the side of the road. speed has been an issue here in the past. about a quarter mile, the speed limit goes from 50 miles per hour down to 30 for drivers to make it safely. >> the field of vision narrows. if you don't start to slow down, i can see thenning la int happe night. >> reporter: the county asked for a permit to install speed cameras. the request was granted. a warning camera will be placed here on wednesday. after that will come one that tickets drivers. >> it's a tragedy, it's sad. >> reporter: it could be several

weeks before determining what led up to the crash. >> charges are being filed against the alleged driver of a car that crashed into a prince georges county apartment. it happened sunday morning in riverdale. a woman says she was sleeping. when a car came through her bedroom window knocking her to the floor. the woman inside the car told police she was driving. police say their investigation revealed she was really a passenger. 39-year-old david smith was behind the wheel and he's now facing several charges. driving without a license and fleeing the scene. a frightening school bus crash in indiana. security video shows the driver falling out of his seat after hitting a bunch in the road. he did not have a seat belt. the bus eventually crashes and goes partially through a garage. no students were on that bus. neither the driver or anyone inside the home was seriously hurt. a 16-year-old is under arrest in loudon county for the

attempted sex assault of two middle schoolgirls. police tell us it happened around 7:30 yesterday morning. around the corner from seneca ridge middle school in the sugarland run area. they say a 12-year-old and 14-year-old were walking to school when the 16-year-old tried to grab them. the girls got away. another boy chased the teen from the area. he was later identified but police aren't releasing his name because he's a minor. vandals strike outside battlefield high school in hay mark. someone painted the front of the school as well as a school bus in the parking lot. another vehicle on the property was also keyed. the vandalism happened over the weekend but so far no arrests. damage is estimated at about $1,800. >> men and women often need help getting back into the workforce. erica gonzalez has more on an organization that's helping vets make that transition. >> reporter: he served in the u.s. marine corps for eight years and most recently did a tour in iraq.

re-entering the workforce is not easy for sergeant seamus sullivan. >> the civilians might be scared to hire veterans. they may not know what job skills transfer into the civilian market. >> reporter: in 2009, the veterans curation program was started to help wounded veterans like sullivan learn basic office skills within six months to either re-enter the job force or go back to school. >> a lot of these veterans, last time, they wore a suit or a tie. it wasn't a suit or a tie, it was a uniform. >> reporter: these men and women aren't just filing paperwork though. they're rehabilitating ancient artifacts. the u.s. army corps of engineers has one of the largest archaeological collections in the country second only to the smithsonian. they've got about 10 years worth of backlogged work to get through. many pieces, like these projectile points, are anywhere from a couple hundred to 8,000

till about midnight. by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, we'll be looking at partly sunny skies. through warren on it, down through culpepper. off to the west of that is where the greatest threat of showers exist for tomorrow morning. everyone can see widespread showers, even an isolated thunderstorm coming our way for tomorrow afternoon and especially for thursday afternoon. thursday morning is dry, quiet, and probably more sunshine coming our way early in the day. that will give us a higher threat for thunderstorms on thursday. so it will be some lightning out there i think. for tomorrow morning at the bus stop, sun's up at 5:43. starting out at 52 in mp anases. that's chilly again. we're back to our early spring clothes. 75, your high in leesburg. 76, 77 in fredericksburg so it could get a little wet tomorrow.
